Ticket price increase?

I asked this question on another blog and was told that my reservations would need to be paid in full to avoid the increase. I went online and paid off the balance to ensure no extra charges.

I noticed then that the first sentence of the Terms and Conditions states, “All prices are in U.S. dollars and are subject to change until package is paid in full.”

If you have the funds and want to err on the side of caution, I'd suggest paying in full before any rumored increases.

Nope, if you have the tickets reserved and you have paid your deposit - you are locked in at the ticket rate, your package price will not change. Now, if you make changes to your package, then it may be affected by the new ticket prices.

Why is it so hard for everyone to understand the hike in ticket prices? Prices go up every year around this time, so why wouldn't they in 2009? Because of the economy? Then I guess you didn't see Disney's latest financials. Furthermore, tickets are the main source of revenue for Disney. Think about it: off-site guests aren't staying at a Disney resort and don't eat at the F&B outlets as often. Therefore, tickets are Disney's best means of collecting as much revenue off that guest as possible. The same can be said for DVC members who have pre-paid their stays using points and most of whom have kitchenettes in their villas. Tickets are the common denominator of revenue that connects all visitors. The prices will go up every year, as well they should.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- One day after it reported declining revenue, Walt Disney World announced it will be raising prices effective Sunday.

Disney said theme park admission tickets will go up between 2.5 percent and 5.3 percent. It said the timing of the raise "falls in line with the needs of the travel trade industry to produce up-to-date 2010 brochures and guidebooks for guests."

A one-day theme park ticket will now cost $79, up from $75. A three-day ticket will cost $219, up from $212 and that same ticket for a Florida resident will cost $134, up from $129. A seven-day ticket will cost $234, up from $228.

Thursday, Disney said reported third quarter revenue of $8.6 billion, down 7 percent from $9.2 billion in the third quarter of 2008. Analysts had estimated revenue at $8.8 billion. Disney said revenue from theme parks is down 9 percent.

Disneys main source for money comes from items purchased in the park. A one day ticket pays a cast menbers salary for around 6 hrs. A $35 t shirt that cost $1.50 to make times hundreds of t shirts and other trinkets that we all buy even though we know they are over priced, well thats were the profit is. Also, the $45 sit down meals that they have been giving away for the past and next few months hasnt helped. If they go back to the old ways it would thin crowds some but they would get more money from each guest.

Attendance has been down for a while and management needs to compensate for the loss. Next stop will be Chapter 11 and/or maybe a bailout?

nothing so drastic, I think.

Bwahahahahaha, they made 954 million last quarter and half of that came from the parks, that's far from Chapter 11. They are set and will be fine through this economic recession. Attendance isn't that far off.
