This may be a duplicate post--if so, please forgive! There is a one-day park hopper for sale on Ebay, which is what I am looking for. The description notes that black-out dates apply (not a problem) and that one side has a castmember name and the other says "not for sale". He says it is a castmember ticket for family and friends. Is this "legal" to purchase, and will I have any trouble using it if I do? TIA, Susie

That is a "legal" ticket but you don't know if the ticket has been used or not.
That is a Cast member ticket that they receive at different times. I wouldn't want to use it if I didn't know the cast member.

Well, if it's labeled "not for sale" then it is not legitimate to sell it. It may not be illegal, but it is certainly in the gray area.

Wow. That is treading dangerously for that CM if they are in any way responsible for that ticket being on ebay. I understand that is grounds for termination! We have generous CM friends that give us their comp tickets and they tell us how they are warned not to sell them. Each ticket is coded so that Disney knows which CM it was issued to and when.

There was another thread a few weeks ago about buying tickets on ebay, and how you won't know until you get to WDW if they are good or not. Someone said they knew of a family that was in line to go thru the turnstile and the tickets were used up or bogus, I forget which. By that time, you need to 1. get more tickets that you know are good, and 2. figure you won't get your money back for the bad ones.

I think in this particular instance with the CM, it's not a good idea; but I've seen numerous Ebay power sellers with good reviews where people who bought tickets said the tickets worke.d

in this particular case, i'd have to pass on the ticket. i did, however, buy tickets on e-bay last month, sent them to a friend in orlando and she had them scanned at MK guest relations-they're valid 2 day park hoppers w/ choice of DQ or PI, just like the e-bay seller said they were :) if you're still looking on e-bay for tickets, his ID is *golden* rule.

But now Disney sells one-day tickets. Sure, you might get a better price on Ebay, but as has been pointed out in numerous places - you don't know until you get to Disney if the ticket is actually valid.

The ticket is "not for sale" - It's likely that the cast member in question has been recently terminated and if not, will soon be terminated - so it's hard to garentee that the ticket will still be valid.

Some of the Comp tickets given to cast members also require that cast member to be present with their valid Cast ID also. Depends on the ticket, and for a 1DPH, i doubt it, but the DQ & PI tickets usually require the CM to be there.

If you're going to buy tickets anywhere else but Disney, remember one thing: Tickets are Non-transferable. Look on any ticket, it tells you that. I don't care if Joe Ebay has 3 days left on his park hopper, non-exp ticket, that ticket is Non-transferable to you. It will be locked to his biometrics and unless you have the same name, you're screwed. Disney won't help you, because you're trying to get into their park illegally.

When it comes to this purchase, it will probably work, but it's still illegal.

There are very few legitimate places to buy tickets, other than WDW. Before you jump on that great discount you read on the internet, you should be sure that it's legit.

Do you really want to get tickets to the park that don't profit Disney? If so, you can explain why Mickey can't feed Pluto :earboy2:

Just want to comment...Disney WILL profit if someone buys this ticket..they will profit on parking etc and everything the person buys inside!

Well, Disney hopes you will buy, some don't (bring their own lunch and drinks). If you are staying at a resort, there is no parking fees.

I would not buy any WDW ticket off E-Bay. I would be too nervous..what if they don't work, which is a possibility. You also have no recourse on E bay so it's buyer beware.

So because you probably buy food and souveniers in the park, Disney isn't entitled to an entrance fee?

FYI - when we were at Disney in January, I had several hopper tickets that I had purchased on various trips and did not know how many days were left on any of them. I asked a CM at a ticket booth at MGM to scan them, so I could figure out which ones to use for my family. She gave me a very hard time about this and mentioned "keeping" my tickets because they were not transferable and I was not allowed to let anyone else use them! :confused3

I then pointed to my family (Dh and 2 DDs) and showed her who they were for and said I was just trying to figure out which tickets to use! She reluntantly scanned them and gave them to me.

I know she was doing her job, but I was annoyed at the inquisition and would worry terribly about using a ticket purchased on eBay for that very reason. :guilty:

Don't worry folks--I'm not going to cheat Disney out of any bucks. If I could have figured out how to delete this post before any replies I would have. I answered my own question almost as soon as I posted and never had any intent to buy this ticket. That being said, I do believe that you can safely buy a ticket on ebay from a seller with a good rep (for similar sales). I actually sold an extra ticket that we purchased for a friend who backed out at the last minute on our trip to Universal last year. The buyer got a good deal, I got a little less than the price I payed, and I'm sure Universal made money in the process. Not trying to start anything.

I've actually purchased a two-day park hopper through the organization sponsoring the convention I'm attending. I don't think I can do all I wanted in one day anyway! Thanks again for your input.
