Ticket not used in new system

Hi ,
I bought a one day MK ticket for December 3 for an elderly family member that now cannot come. What happens to the ticket with the new system?

It stays linked to your MDE account until you use it to enter a park or use it to upgrade to a higher priced ticket.

If it hasn't been used, it can be reassigned to someone else.

Thanks, so long as it does not expire if not used. I don't know when or if this person will ever be able to use it.

The next time you go, you can change the name on the Profile line, or, you can go to My Reservations > Tickets and Passes and reassign it to someone else.

The new 1 day tickets do have an expiration date. After the expiration date, Disney will give you credit for the amount you paid towards the purchase of another ticket of greater value.
