Ticket - hard plastic or paper

If you buy tickets from Disney online, are they the plastic, credit card kind, or the paper ones? Last year, we bought from ticketmania and they were the paper kind which I didn't like as much.

They are the "paper" kind. It's really not paper though.

I'm continually amazed by the discussion on "paper" vs plastic tickets here on DIS. It seems that a lot of people think that the "paper" ticket really is flimsy paper when really its a very durable, tyvec like, synthetic. Other than being much thinner than the plastic (think room key) type tickets, there really isn't any difference in their durability. But since the "paper" tickets are thinner, they are easier to store and cary.

my ap is the paper kind...i used it three different times this year, for a total of about 18 days. numerous fastpasses, etc. and it looks good yet. it expires tomorrow.

I've had similar experiences with my AP. Typically we get 25 or more park days (often more than one park per day) in a year and never had problems with the AP media.

I guess the answer might be...AP tickets are the "paper" sort, regular tickets are the "room key plastic" sort. Unless you get them at check-in, then it seems you might get "paper".

Or are we really just discussing the merits of "paper" vs. "plastic"?

I think I remember reading recently that all tickets are now going to be the plasticized paper (except for admission that is put on your hotel room keys, for your convenience). The plasticized paper is much more durable than the plastic card type.
