Hi! I am trying to talk my husband into going for a few days to DW. I thought I could get him to go if he plays golf during the day while I take my two girls to the parks. I have 3-3 day passes that do not expire. Unfortunately when we bought them my youngest who is now 6 didnt need a pass at that time. I was wondering if she could use my husbands. So my question is does the finger scanner things really work? Will it pick up that she isnt my husband?

Crossing my fingers........:worship:

What will most likely happen is that the CM will see that your DD is using an adult ticket with a finger scan on it.

So she will insert the ticket and it will wait for the scan but children do not have to scan. If she did scan her finger it wouldn't match. This will bring the CM to the gate and they will notice that she is using a used adult ticket.

Since tickets are not transferable she will not be allowed in. If it was unused it may work but not if its used.

They definitely work. I was using the same finger on the wrong hand and it wouldn't let me through. It's definitely accurate!

But obviously as stated above the kids don't need to use them so that would alert the CM.

As long as your husband does not use the pass on this trip it should work fine. We recently went to DW with a stack of misc non expiring passes and they all worked fine. My thought is that the fingerprint probably resets after a couple months of not being used. The finger print is only to prevent mulitple users during the same vacation. Don't quote me on it, but there is no way that by coincidence we all used the correct pass and used the same finger for the fingerprint. The passes were not even labeled with anyone's name. You should be fine. Have fun:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I would definately try and use it. What is the worst that could happen? It doesn't work and you need to buy another one.........

I don't think it resets ever that would defeat the entire purpose of the scan. Its not just to prevent multiple users per vacation.

It more to keep you from giving/selling your partially used ticket to some one else. Since the ticket never expires they are not going to erase this data.

There are situations that give the appearance that the Fingerprint thingy doesn't work such as some times tickets bought together are linked so anyone's finger will work. So don't assume that the finger print doesn't work because of your situation.

Also in the OP's situation the CM would see that a child is using an Adult used ticket. The kid's finger print in not in the system so there is no chance that its somehow linked to that group of tickets.

Disney goes to get lengths to keep you from sharing tickets.

Oh and the worst that can happen is that the ticket is voided and you are escorted off the property.

I would guess this is a big no-no.

Sorry. JMHO. Seems like breaking a pretty big Disney rule.

Nope, they do NOT reset. AP holders have to go through as well. It isn't to stop mulitiple users on the same trip..it is to stop mulitple users period.
Many have tried and gotten away with it. But, on the other hand, many have tried and gotten stopped. Then, they had to buy a new, full price park pass, right there.

Since they don't expire and its an "adult" pass.... I would save it for next time. Purchase her a Jr. pass that would be cheaper than using up this adult one.
They will notice that she's a child using an adult pass and then you will have to come up with some kind of explanation.
too much trouble for me..... I'd just get her another pass. :goodvibes

No the worse thing that can happen to you is they put you in the Goofy suit for the day.

Or maybe that's the best thing, I get confused sometimes.

A usage history is kept for every ticket. When they see your child is using an adult ticket and then look up the usage history and find that it does not make sense with your child's age, for example your child wasn't born yet ...

I agree about purchasing a child's ticket for your 6 year old, this way your husband can use the other adult ticket if he ever decides to visit the parks.

The finger scan is not always turned on. We went a week ago and the finger scan was not on (this was in the morning but it was not busy at the gates) so none of us had to do the finger scan. We just walked right through. I went in on my husbands ticket and my kids had new tickets that now do not have finger scans attached to them. Worse case scenario is that you have to go buy a ticket for your DD.

The scanner being off does not in anyway eliminate the most obvious part of this story. That is that there is a child using an adult pass. One might as well be wearing neon lights that say...I'm trying to get away with something here.
Try it if you like, but be prepared for some possible big time embarrassment.

In my experience, it is not common for it to be turned off completely, even in the mornings. You cannot know in advance.

If your kids are under 10, they don't do finger scans anyways. That's also why it is more noticeable if a child tries to use an adult ticket or vice versa...whether the finger scanner activates...

Again, the WORST thing to happen is that you lose your tickets and get trespassed from the property - which can also result in you being banned from the property.

I wouldn't do it...
There is of course just the honesty thing...but also, there is a chance that it will create a big scene, with you and your children standing there while CM's are called, guests lining up behind you, etc...just a bad example to set for the kids. If you do it, whether or not you get away with it, and then your kids get in trouble for not following the rules in school, or cheating on a test, etc...how are you going to correct them from a place of moral authority?

Buy your daughter a child's pass. Tickets are non-transferable. It isn't worth the hassle or worry about what might happen if it is noticed. And I would be worried about possibly messing up your husbands AP. If it is an adult AP your daughter will have to scan her finger to get in, then it will cause a problem when your hubby goes to use it.
