Ticket and Identification

I noticed at Busch Gardens and Sea World that they have the finger scan to verify you are the ticket holder - at least for my annual passes. But not everyone has to do this, and I assume that is only for the single day tickets.

What do they do at US/IOA? Is it a finger scan or some newer (hopefully faster) type of system? If I buy a 3 day pass, will it apply to me, or does it apply only to annual pass members?

They use finger scans at Universal too. It applies to all multi day tickets and annual passes.

It also applies to one day tickets.

That's too bad. I remember getting an annual pass at Sea World once and they took our photo. It was not on the ticket, but when they scanned it at the gate, our photo showed up on a monitor the attendent could see. The great benefit was that it was fast. The finger scans just seem to not work well for my family.

Here's some tips (because I've been having a terrible time with finger scans all week!).

Use the same finger. (ie: Don't forget which one!)

Use an open hand (don't curl your other fingers).

Try to remember how hard you pressed down, and be consistent.

Try to use the same angle and position (ie, if your finger is touching the top of the plate than always put it there).

Warm up your hands beforehand, and wipe your fingers on your jeans to make sure there's no excess oil on them.

It can definitely be a bit tricky. The machine seems to like people with good clear fingerprints, not people like me, whose fingerprint ridges can barely been seen. I've been stuck using my thumb, because none of my other fingers work. And even my thumb only works sometimes, though I'm getting better at it!

The staff are very encouraging.
