Now's the time to say Good bye. . .
Our last morning I had planned to eat Breakfast at Fresh. I had wanted to try it and I was determined to go. I told the others they were welcome to join me or not. Shug had overdone it (big surprise!) and decided to stay in bed, but Kimmi and Phors got ready and we headed down.
Breakfast was good, the selection was good the service was AWFUL. Our server couldn't be bothered to come by and we ultimately had to hunt someone down to be able to pay our check. Then back to the room to finish packing up and leave.
I had tried to make contact with Sideshow Bob a few days earlier but he was in meetings. I decided to try again to see if we could just say hi. I reached him in his office and arranged to meet down in the lobby. Bell Services came to get all our bags and we gave them all of our leftover muffins and donuts. Yeah, I had brought a ton of muffins and donuts and some juices for breakfast because we decided that it would be cheaper and easier to eat in our room each morning. Did you see any mention in this trip report of that actually happening?????? NO! I think only 3 muffins and a handful of little donuts got eaten. But I had lots of room in my suitcase for my shOOOOOOOOping! The bellman said that they would be very appreciated among his friends. I hope they enjoyed them.
I caught up with everyone in the lobby--can't remember why I was late, I probably had to bust a wee, that is my usual excuse. They were talking with a tall, well dressed guy that I assumed had to be SSB. We only had a few mintues to chat but it was great to meet him! Word of warning, if you go to the front desk of the hotel on a blinged out
scooter, wearing a tiara and carrying a paper doll on a stick and ask for Sideshow Bob, they WILL look at you very strangely!!! (and were probably calling security.. )
Mears had our special services chariot awaiting us so Kimmi, Phors, Shuggie and I headed out for the final good byes. Hugs and tears for all. I thought that Phors or Kim had taken pictures of us, but if they did they didn't send them to me. If you all have them let me know.
Back to the airport, check in the luggage and all and someone there pushes Shug into the airport (she was back in her manual wheelchair) and parks her over by the wall. We were told that someone would be along shortly to help her to the gate. So we wait. While we were waiting you will NOT believe who showed up. . .
THE WATA CHECK GUYS!!!
No really, look!
Their outfits were a bit different from the ones we saw at Disney Studios, but the props were the same!
WATA CHECK!
Anyway. . .
We waited.
and waited.
and waited.
And no one ever came to help Shug to the gate. It takes us quite a while to get through security and we wanted to hit the
Disney Store and get something to eat so finally I told her to grab on to the arm of my scooter. I grabbed the arm of her w/c and gunned it! I pulled her through the airport--I really wish I had a picture of that!
First stop, shOOOOOOOOping at the Disney Store for a few last minute things. Then to security. That was a fiasco but I won't bore you with the negative details. If you want to know I posted it on the disABILITIES board, PM me for the link.
Picked up some lunch and off to the gate. Here the Queen waits. .
The trip home was fairly uneventful. No one spilled their wine on them. No major problems getting on or off, except that the skycaps bringing Shug on couldn't seem to grasp that she could not walk on and had to use the aisle chair. But it worked out.
I guess the only major excitement was when Shug decided she had to bust a wee, NOW. And the seat belt sign was still on. I had asked her before we boarded if she wanted to make a potty stop. I am a mommy, I know these things. I had a potty stop before we boarded (hell, I don't pass a bathroom without stopping!), but she was adament she didn't need to. 20 minutes later she has to go NOW. Remind you of anthing, moms and dads? The seat belt sign is on and not only does she have to get up, but I would have to get up with her to help her to the door and back. We were in the front right next to it but it is still a few hops to get there. So I ask the Flight Attendant what to do. She said that since the seat belt sign is on she can only advise us that it is unsafe to get up but if we choose to it is at our own risk. Shug and I unbuckle and start to get up. And the seat belt sign goes off!
And now for some lovely on board photos:
Yes, that is WINE I am holding!
And I did actually drink it!
And this was Shug's 3rd wine!
She wanted me to let you all know she was only drinking it for medicinal purposes to help the pain in her foot. . .
And
YES TAG FAIRY, she was keeping her foot elevated the entire time!
At the airport these 2 girls came running at me screaming Mommy--I started to yell "NOT MINE!" but then realized the week was over and they were "MINE".
But we are already planning for next year. . .
Anyone else want to join us????
