Anyone know the scoop on how to be a part of this? Going up first weekend in Dec. Are they still doing it?

They are running the show through the end of the xmas season. I'm not sure how to be a part of it....I'd like to know though too.

If you go to that area of the park 20-30 minutes before the show starts, you will see costumed cast members roaming the area who are looking for participants for the show. There's only a limited number of spots available, but I believe if you just go up and ask to be in it that's all you need to do - they will give you a card that lets you on board the Mark Twain, and I assume they give you further instructions once you're there.

It's really great! We saw part of it and it has the old Disney magic feel, unlike the Celebrate! street party/parade thingy. It just made me smile and I felt like a little kid again.

It is DEFINITELY worth waiting early for and watching/participating.

We really liked it too, although everytime we were in New Orleans Square we happened to be there when the show was going on, so that song they sing as they parade around is ingrained in my brain!

I can't wait to see it in a few weeks!

We might be there the same time. Were going up for the Dec 4th weekend! and one of my best friends lives in New Braunfels, close to you?!

Our group is definately going to try and be a part of this Jubilee!!! We shoot for the Saturday Dec 5 - let's hope for the best!

Kayla's Mom - Could you tell if they are only picking adults and older (10+) kids to participate in the show? I read that earlier so I'm only planning on watching the show at some point rather than trying to get tickets to join in on the boat. I was wondering if this was your perception as well. Thanks!:thumbsup2

We didn't actually watch the actual boat part of the show -- we just constantly saw the performers (the DL ones) parading around. I am sorry, I am not any help!

on that link that I put from micechat, the poster looked like a college student, so maybe they will pick us big folks too? In his post, there were kids too.

I spoke to one of the performing cast members on opening weekend and asked them about children getting chosen. His response was that they are only choosing slightly older children because they are tall enough to be seen over the rails and can handle the props per their instructions. With the costume and prop changes, the show is a bit more complicated than young children can participate in. I've seen ones in it that were about 8, but height matters.

Thanks for all the info. My DNephew19 was supposed to be a performer in the show but he ended up in the hospital on Halloween night. He had to stay for almost a week and then off work for 2 more weeks. Needless to say he didn't get to be in the Jubilee or even do his last performance of Celebrate!

Good news is he has been cleared to return to work and will be back Monday to learn any changes in the show and first performance will be Tuesday. We have always, as a family, been there for his first performances and plan on being there Tuesday. He was in his first parade last year-he was one of the reindeers. We saw both shows that day. Then when Celebrate! premiered we waited 2 hours to see it/him (I never wait 2 hours for anything! :rotfl2:). And then I was planning on being there for his final Celebrate! performance on Nov. 5th and his first Jubilee one on Nov. 6th but life interferred.

I was trying to decide if DD10 should miss school all day on Tuesday so we could see him perform and hopefully get on board and based on the posts I've read looks like we need to get there early in the a.m. for a chance to ride the boat. DL opens at 8 a.m. that day so I'm not sure how early we can make it but we will get there as early as possible so we have a chance to ride the boat-it would be great to have a little private time on the boat with all the characters, inc. my DNephew! :woohoo:

DD10's teacher doesn't like it when kids miss school for anything other than illness, but my DD has a 4.0 GPA and is already over 200% of her AR goal. I don't think missing one day will hurt her, right? Besides, it's the short week before Thanksgiving and they won't be doing much school work anyway, right?

Hope she's tall enough to be selected! She's small for her age, only 52" tall (just tall enough to finally have riden Maliboomer recently.)

Oh, and we have to go to DLR tomorrow so we can get our free Princess and the Frog kid's movie tickets. It's the last day.

To answer one of the PP's question, the show is running until Jan. 3rd. Then they'll be draining the ROA for maintenance in Jan.

CELEBRATE! will be back after that. My DNephew has been asked to be in it again. :)

Well, we're going right after Thanksgiving, and taking DGD6. She's almost 7, but only 46" tall. I'm also hoping we can get her into the performance! But from the sounds of this thread, maybe not? If anyone has further information on age/height requirements, please post! I'll do the same when we return. Thanks.
