Tiana Character a Dissapointment?

Did anyone else experience some disappointment with Tiana at Disney? She is my daughter's new fave. When we went to meet her at the Magic Kingdom, she just didn't strike us as playing the part. In fact, my daughter didn't want to stay to meet her - she insisted on hiding her eyes from her!

oh so sorry you had a bad interaction. Our interaction with Tiana and Naveen was great.

We had a great interaction with Tiana and Naveen! My dd had a Tiana dress on and she made a big deal asking if my dd would trade dresses with her. Naveen knelt down to hug her and my dd almost knocked him over. They were really in character and chatted her up alot.

Wow. They must have been having an off day. They were some of the best characters we've ever met in all our trips.

I find that hard to believe as well. We thought they were both exceptional - they were really good about feeling kids out, and if some were nervous, they didn't push at all. They were dancing up a storm, just like in the movie too! They spent a lot of time getting to know guests, and took a long time with each one - they didn't seem to care too much about time at all. It was refreshing as most characters greets are very rushed.

They were fabulous, so not sure what happened? Perhaps your daughter was afraid of Naveen? Tiana was very welcoming and gentle to the children, so perhaps your daughter was just sensitive about something else?

That's a bummer - we had a *fantastic* experience meeting Tiana and Naveen. I agree with other PPs that it was one of the best character interactions we've ever had - they were completely in character and got down to DD's level to talk with her. She was nervous about meeting Naveen (she only wanted to see Tiana), but afterwards couldn't stop talking about him.

We met them in December and they were fabulous.

It makes it harder sometimes when you're kids are shy too. My DS was completely overwhelmed by the princesses and hid, too. They tried to interact with him, but he wouldn't cooperate, so they would talk to my DDs instead.

Did you actually talk with the characters, or did you get that feeling when you were in line that they weren't playing the role well? It sounds like the latter from your post, that's why I'm asking. I think it would be difficult to judge them without having spoken with them.

We had great interaction in March. My DD who is 3 was so excited and they were great with her. They even talked to myself about our trip, where we were from (from LA too so they loved that). I am a teacher and was getting autographs for the girls in my class and when I told them, they asked about the class and the girls name, it was great!
Sorry your experience was bad, maybe it was just an off moment for them?

My DD visite with Tiana and Naveen this past Dec. in Disneyland *New Orleans Square* they were lovely and such fun!

My DS7 and DS8 have HUGE crushes on Tiana, so we can't wait to meet her in August!

We loved Tiana and Naveen when we met them! They were the most interactive prince and princess we've ever met and we thought they were great!

Could you have seen another "one" perhaps? Those characters have many "appointments" in many different places.

It must have been different ones from the one's we saw in December. Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen were awesome. Some of the best character interaction we have ever had. If you go back maybe try again. Maybe DD was really nervous to meet her fave. My DD sometimes clams up and shuts down when she's overwhelmed.
