Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Full Ride-Through at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World

It has to be asked - how in the world did that take years to redo? That is a good ride but that is unreal. Disney is a multi-billion dollar company. That is embarrassing. It’s not that much different. They have a few moving characters but really? That took YEARS?

When did Splash actually close? It hasn’t been years has it?

Try a little over a year. Not years. 1/23/2023 to 6/28/2024. 1 year, 5 months, 5 days. And that's just to the official opening date.
They announced it for years. It’s been closed almost 18 months. I guess you could say they announced it and did absolutely nothing on it until it closed but if that’s true - also an indictment.

Why would they strip it down before it officially closed? When have they ever done that? Closing down a ride, stripping it down completely, doing all new construction, and animatronics in a little under a year and a half doesn't seem like something to sniff. Haunted Mansion in Disneyland is going to be down for about 8 months just to redo the outdoor queue. The scrapped redo of Spaceship Earth was supposed to take multiple years. The reconstruction of Space Mountain in Japan is a multi-year renovation.

I mean you’d be building animatronics and the pieces of the ride that you attach to what was Splash Mountain. I’m not saying you tear down Splash. You work on what is replacing it while Splash is still running. That’s just business 101.

I'm confused. Are you suggesting they drop new stuff into the existing briar patch and desert mountain motiff? For a ride set in the bayou? They never just pop new stuff up while the rides are running. I feel like you want to be negative about this for the sake of being negative. They took down and completely refreshed a ride in under 18 months. That's no small feat. Animatronics take years to complete and perfect. The ones they added are pretty impressive.

It’s like people are mad when Disney doesn’t put enough effort into projects and then they’re mad when Disney puts too much time and effort into projects. Some people just aren’t happy unless they have something to be upset about. I’m excited to see this new iteration.

I love Splash Mountain and Dr Facilier. AND I'm still excited to ride this one. Based on what I've seen, I'm really digging the changes. I think it captures the essence of the movie, and has a nice message.

Are we certain that Dr F has left the bayou?

I'm disappointed. I really think Disney dropped the ball not including Dr. FACILIER. It's honestly wild to me. I get it. It's supposed to be after the movie. But you didn't have to make that the story line. The ride could have been based off the movie. I really
Think they messed up here. Of course everyone will ride it including myself but smh Disney. Someone in the meeting room wasn't thinking.

New ride is looking great! Never cared for the theming of Splash, it was fine but nothing that made it one of our top 10-15 WDW attractions.

I don't have strong feelings either way about not including Dr. Facilier but, even with a post-movie story, couldn't they have added an element in the scenario where he comes back from the other side in an effort to thwart Tiana's efforts, but is ultimately defeated again and sent plummeting back?

Exactly! That's what I really thought they were going to do.
