We stayed in a THV last week 7/19 through 7/24 and it was nice but I have a few questions/comments. First, why would you build a place like this and not put LOCKS on any of the doors? Next, the sofa and chair in the living room are so short in the sitting area it feels as if your going to fall foward right out of the chair. The TV in the living room is hard to see from all of the seats....it would have been better served hanging on the wall (up higher) between the kitchen and the master bedroom door. The queen sized bed in the master bedroom should be a king....it's too small! We never used the deck and table/chairs because during the day we needed shade (golf course view 7038) and at night too many bugs, they should have umbrellas! The busses....don't get me started on the busses! It was sooooooo annoying to continualy drive PAST the entrance to the THV when they could just swing in and make the 2 stops! We did LOVE the pool...most days we were the only people in it which was a bonus.

Wow! I'm one to experience things for myself but you bring up a lot of good points. It's way too hot in Florida not to have some shade. The bugs, I knew would be an issue, decided to bring citronella foggers when we go next year. The locks I don't really care about, but the seating and bedding should be comfortable, no excuses there. We drive to the parks so no bus issue, that's a releif!

Thanks for the insight! I guess we'll see what happens when we go!

iirc someone posted when THVs were in soft-opening ( or whatever appropriate term is) with CMs staying there, there were issues with door locks sticking or malfunctioning or something like that so decision was made to remove them until they could be replaced with better ones.

I'm assumming you're talking interior doors, right? The door to the outside locks doesn't it? :confused3 I really wanted to stay at THV but we're tall folks in this family and the way you're describing the furniture I'm wondering if we should rethink that. Also I didn't realize that some of the villas are in the direct sun. I thought they were all in the woods. I love sitting outside but not with the sun beating down on me. Thanks for your report.

Well I don't think it was the locks that were sticking but the door handles, twice my DD9 got "LOCKED IN" her room....the door handles are very sensitive and if you don't turn the handle ALL THE WAY to the bottom the door won't open! But no locks! That's crazy....sometimes adults want a little privacy while on vacation!

Yes ita. Even if everyone is in habit of knocking if a door is closed that doesn't always guarantee that they will . I would have thought by now going into month 3 of THVs that they'd have the doors refitted with locks.

We stayed in the THV last month. We wondered if the no locks thing was going to be an issue for us (we use locks to keep our 3 yr old out of places!) but it turned out not to be an issue. And actually having locks can pose a problem with a 3 yr old too... lol

The short seating thing I am not understanding... Do you mean deep? I will say that when we got there the cushions were sticking out a bit due to not being pushed all the way back after the beds were folded up. So I pushed them back. And sometimes we'd move those long throw pillows out of the way to make the seat more deep. (We are not short people, dh is 5'10" and I am 5'8.5".)

We did not use the deck much as the times when we had time to sit and relax or eat a meal, there were bugs out there.

Yes...I did mean deep....none of the chairs or the couch ever seemed quite right and I am short 5' 2" with shoes on!

The bedroom isn't big enough for a king bed...otherwise there would be one. Due to the unique shape of the unit, there wouldn't have been enough room for clearance between the corner of the bed and the wall with all the windows.

The TV didn't bother me. Our living room TV sits on a credenza that's similar height. Honestly I laugh whenever I see a flat panel hung over a fireplace or otherwise high on the wall. Hurts my neck just to glance at the TV. :rotfl2:

We saw a lot of bugs at night, too, but didn't have any desire to sit outside.

Not sure what's going on with the door locks. I heard that they did have some sort of locking mechanism during CM previews, but it was clumsy and difficult to open in the event of an emergency (child locks self in.) So the locks were simply removed. At the very least, I'm surprised they haven't at least put a lock on the shared bathroom door.

Probably the same reason they put a queen sized bed in the master bedroom. Not enough room. Smaller furniture makes a small room look larger.
