Just returned from a trip to WDW where we stayed in the THV. I loved the THV but I have one complaint. The bunk beds are NOT comfortable. We had a 100 lb teen and a 135 lb grandma sleeping in the bunk beds. Grandma moved to the pullout sofa bed after one night. The teen stayed in the upper bunk but didn't get a good night's sleep as it was very uncomfortable.

I would suggest putting only small children in the bunk beds. We won't rent the THV again due to the bunk beds being so bad for sleeping. It's a pity, too, since the rest of the villa was great.

THV is supposed to have a sleeper chair in the living room, in addition to the sleeper sofa also in the living room. Did you try the sleeper chair?

Good info, thanks! We were planning on my DD 15, 5'1", and 105 lb and my DS 11, and 60 lb  sleep in them. They should be fine. :thumbsup2

I do agree with OP my 2 DD's slept in the bunk beds 20 yr old moved to couch after 1 night and 19 yr old who is 4'11 and 100 lbs tried to bottom bunk and moved back to the top! When I told them I booked THV for 3 ni over x-mas they were less then thrilled due to the bunk beds! Other then that we all LOVED THV! I still think a better option for the room would have been a double bed, 2 twin beds or a day bed with trundle. The weird thing is we have stayed in the cabins at Ft. Wilderness and never had any problems with bunk beds, I even slept on then on occasion.

I think the reason for the bunk beds (other than you always hear people saying why can't DVC put some bunk beds in the villas instead of always putting in king sized beds:scared1:) was the room is so small. I don't think two twins would fit.

My niece is 18, 5'3" and 100 lbs. She HATED the bunk bed. Said it was really uncomfortable and very loud, making noise every time she moved.

The sleeper chair is about 2 feet away from the door to the master bedroom. My mom snores like a freight train so she used the sleeper sofa just to be a bit farther away from our door.

My niece stayed in the upper bunk bed rather than sleep in the same room with her grandma. The snoring bothered her more than the bed, I guess.

The room is very tiny so no, I don't think they could fit anything other than one twin bed or the bunk beds.

We won't be staying at the THV again just due to the bunk beds being so bad. I wouldn't ask anyone to sleep in them in the future.

I was just there in Feb and while in the room was thinking how they could fit a double bed in there , get rid of the shelve, put the bed against the wall like in the cabins and get rid of dresser/desk thing and have shelving in the closet for clothes. I do "get" the bunk bed theory but was shocked at the protest to sleep on them.

I like the concept of the bunk beds because you can have different sex children in the same room with separate beds. But for them to work, they need to be upgraded in quality. I slept in a bunk bed at Wilderness Lodge about 10 years ago and don't remember having any problem with it. I don't know what it is about the bunk beds at THV, but they are just not the same quality.

My DS9 slept on the bunkbeds for 8 days without complaint. he has asked to stay there again just because of the bunkbeds. I did notice that the beds were a bit squeaky.

DD said bottom bunk sunk way down but top was okay

DD (23 - 150lbs) and her friend had no complaints about the bunkbed!! :confused3 She was actually excited to sleep in them. Who knew.

This trip DMIL will be sleeping on the bottom. Hope all is ok for her!! May need to put the sleeper chair in there for her (if we can fit it!)!!

The chair is too heavy to move and you will damage the villa doing the moving.
