Thursday's What Word Riddle!

Oooh, I make the best salsa!

Tomatoes
Jalapeno peppers
fresh cilantro
lime juice (fresh lime is best)
black pepper
lots of salt (more than you would think you would need)
sweet yellow onion

depending on what I need it for...I either put it all in the food processor or I dice the tomatoes and leave it chunky. (I like the chunky one best)

It's so yummy...I could eat it all with a spoon.

(darn, I might have to go make some of that today) ;)
OK...do you skin the tomato and scoop out the insides, or use the whole thing? My wife's is kinda watery and that was a suggestion to keep it a little less watery. It isn't like the water is bad.

We need to talk salsa. Do you make it? My wife has a bunch of tomatoes and jalapeno peppers at home.

I've never made salsa before, but I like mine a little watery and not so chunky. Maybe I'll try and make some this weekend. I love trying new things

No, I use the whole thing......but I drain some of the water out each day to keep it fresh and less watery. The salt is what breaks it down and makes it watery...but it doesnt taste the same without the salt to me. If she uses the food processor it will be more liquidy. If she dices the tomatoes it starts out less watery but if you drain a little of the juice each day, it helps out with that.

What do you mean drain it each day? How long does your salsa last? Maybe I'll have my wife write down what she does and I'll send hers to you.

She doesn't use a processor. She uses some kinda white choppy infomercial type thing that cuts the stuff up into little pieces.

tell her to use a sharp knife and cut them! That little choppy thing is what does it! (it pulverizes the tomatoes)
after she cuts the tomatoes...there will be a lot of juice on the cutting board.....just scoop up the tomatoes and not the juice if you dont want it that watery.

and when I make salsa...I make a huge bowl...lasts a couple of days or until we eat it all! so every morning...I drain out a little of the liquid.

holy heck...it's not rocket science. :rotfl:

That's not a required life skill in Texas? :confused3

:rotfl: I missed school that day, but I was there on Howdy day:thumbsup2 OH and mechanical bull riding day:lmao:
OH I forgot, I do know how to make homemade tortillas though

my mom makes salsa sometimes, but hers is really simple just tomatos, serano peppers, and clinatro. Cook it up and eat. it's actually pretty good, but not very hot

You know, with all this talk of the culinary arts, someone might think this thread was REALLY controversial and posts got deleted!!!:rotfl:

There is actually a logical flow the conversation follows, if you start from the begining. When posts get deleted, it's more like:

"Who wants to hear about what happened to me this weekend???"

followed by

"So you just make sure you turn the meat only once, and you should be ok."

Hey...someone could have been posting interesting pictures in between all those posts!
