Sorry Alan I have to disagree. All y'all is not redundant but a whole 'nother level of conjugation found only in the true Deep South (and maybe in Greek and Russian because they just have crazy tenses.)

Y'all is you all... meaning you and the others.
All y'all means every last single one of you all.

all depends on howin's you look at it....I was born in Indiana...buy my pa he come from down round kentucky parts, my mama's parents were from Mt Airy NC. Ive lived in Florida too, but have been in Alabama around about 25 years....and seeing as how I was 9 when we moved here I figure Im an Alabamian.

My brother was working in a sawmill (yes, this is true) when someone came in and said "How are you'se guys doing?"

"You ain't from around here, are ya?"

It was then explained to him politely "If you feel like you have to address us, just say 'hoss' "

They next day he came in with "How are you hosses doing?"
