After seeing a positive review posted for San Angel on this forum a week ago, we decided to give it a try on our trip to Epcot this past weekend. So our family of 5 dined in Mexico at the San Angel Inn for Saturday lunch on 9/25. All of us (includes 3 girls, aged 12 - 18) agreed that it was great. Had 12:30 reservation, we arrived at 12:37 and was seated within 10 minutes. We had best table in the house, or at least it felt like it, with it being on the rail next to the river and the unobstructed view of temple and volcano. With this setting, the atmosphere is hard to beat. Food was great and almost more than we could eat. Chips and salsa were good. Service was very good. We eat mexican a few times per month at home and felt that we were experienced different and better tasting food at San Angel. For future Epcot trips, we will definitely do this again.

We ate here in Sep. had a great dinner. Service was great atmosphere was great and we are definately going back again :thumbsup2

We just ate there too on Friday 9-24 and it was fantastic !! I had the crab appetizer (amazing !!) and the ribeye tacos. My DH had the crab app and the tamales. He loved them! We were very happy w/ San Angel !!! :yay:

Thanks for sharing! We booked San Angel Inn as part of the Candlelight Processional Package because we've always wanted to try it. It seems to have a lot of bad reviews here on the DIS, so it's nice to see some positive ones (and reviews that are more recent). :goodvibes

Thanks for the positive review. I have always wanted to try it, but being from Texas was afraid the food may not be to my liking. I will def. be trying it now.

I have eaten at almost every disney restaurant, and this is easily one of the biggest letdowns. Atmosphere was good, but I thought the food was better in much bigger portions at the counter service outside the building.

To each their own, but I enjoy almost every other sit-down non-buffets at WDW better than San Angel Inn.

We ate lunch here this past may and LOVED it. So now we are going for dinner in december...popcorn::

We ate there in June. We all loved it. We are going back in March, and would like to make another ADR there, but we have decided to try some new places instead. We will DEFINITELY be getting a speciality margarita at some point, though.

Glad to hear more good reviews for San Angel Inn. Going in October for the first time in years...I remember loving it as a kid!

We went on 9/25/10 for a 2:30 lunch. We were seated almost immediately. When we arrived, I said, "We'd love a table by the water if one is available". One was & we were directly in front of the pyramid & volcano & has an un-obstructed view of the boats going by.
I was apprehensive about this ADR b/c of the reviews I have read, but we decided to go for it since the atmosphere is something you can't get just anywhere. Well, it turned out to be one of my very favorite meals on our trip. Chips & salsa were very good, as was the guacamole. Me, my DH & 2 DS all ordered the sirlion w/ chicaquiles (sp?). It was very good. The chicaquiles were a bit spicy for the DH, but was still tasty. Desserts were very good. Each of us got different things...all were delicious.
I am so glad that we decided to try it & will def be back next time!

Dinner has always been good, Margaritas are the best! The atmosphere is romantic, but the chlorine smell from the water ride is sometimes really strong.

We've got a lunch ADR for our visit this December. I'm really looking forward to it.

I've wanted to try the food at the Mexico pavilion for the longest time, but didn't because of all of the negative reviews. With the uptick in reviews, we decided to risk a lunch ADR this time.

(We actually have an evening ADR at Le Cellier that night, and didn't want to give that up, anyway. Also, my DS is not much of a fan of Mexican food, and if he doesn't eat much at lunch, it's not a big deal.)

We did the boat ride through the pyramid, and that restaurant is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did not eat there due to the negative pundits here, BUT, I wish I would have tried it over the Cape May.

We had an ADR at San Angel for our trip a few weeks ago, but didn't end up going because we needed a day off from the parks and it just happened to be the same day as our ADR.

I'm really sad that we weren't able to try SAI. We like the atmosphere and even though I normally see poor reviews, I'm optimistic about trying it out sometime.

I'm glad to hear that your family enjoyed it! We will be sure to make an ADR for our next trip, whenever that might be! :thumbsup2

So for all of you people that loved it....what did you order for your entree?

We're going here in about 20 days & we want to order well :)

We went for a 2:30 lunch & had the sirlion asado con chilaquiles. De-lish! The steak was very juicy, tender & had not one bit of fat on it. The chilaquiles (layers of corn tortillas w/tomatillos & cheese) was also very good. My dh thought it was kind of spicy, but not me! I ordered rice, which was good, but no beans. For dessert, I had the vanilla mousse w/ fresh berries & milk caramel-it was fabulous!
If you can, request a table by the water when you check in for your ADR.

We have skipped SAI the past two or three trips because we didn't like it in the past. It was either the service or the food, or both at times. I am SO glad to be reading some good reviews of it because we love the look and feel of the restaurant. Im seriously considering adding it to our list.

I would love to hear more from people who have been recently. :)

We will be there for Cinco de Mayo in 2011 - wanted to eat here on that day but it is not on the DP for 2011. Is it worth paying out of pocket for a meal here?
