Sorry I'm a little tardy in posting this, but I wanted to pass along my thanks to MS for taking care of our unused points due to the weather conditions last weekend (1/23) in the northeast. We were supposed to check in on Sunday, 1/23. Due to the impending blizzard, we tried to fly out (BDL) on Saturday. Actually were on the plane, door closed and pushed back when the weather deteriorated and the type of plane (MD-88) we were on was not suited for poor visibility or slick runways. So the stress level increases; rebook and cancel, etc. All flights out of BDL cancelled Sunday. We get out mid-day on Monday, check in at 4:30 PM. I call MS from our room and they have already put the cancelled points into a holding account. They release them from holding and put them back into current use year!! Thanks Giselle in MS!! I hoped I spelled your name right! :sunny:
 
Thanks for sharing with us...it does balance out the posts which share the negative experiences.

And most important, make sure you share your thoughts with Giselle's boss!

That was great! Did you call MS and let them know when you couldn't get out? If you did, that might be why they were so helpful.
 
Since we left or should I say were scheduled to leave on a Sunday, MS was not open. We did call the BC front desk and even though they are not officially affiliated with DVC, they said there would not be a problem with the one day cancellation. We mentioned that we would be down (optimistic at this time) Monday. To be honest, I assumed that the points were gone and that's why I was pleasantly surprised the way Gisela (I finally got her name spelled right) handled it. Since my OP I have e-mailed my thanks to MS and Carli D'Agostino, and heard back from Carli this morning. Signing off on a good chapter and now it's time to go back out and shovel the 4 more inches of snow we got last night.

I still suspect the fact that you called DID make a difference. Glad it turned out so well for you.
