Throwaway room (read post #2041 or #2710 before posting)

For those of you wondering about physically checking in for the parking pass - here's what happened to us in November. Morning of our throwaway booking, we parked at MK and scanned our MBs to get in at the gate. Later that evening, I went to physically check in at the campsite and get our paper parking pass. Not necessary, but we found it beneficial to have that paper parking pass.

I would like more info. You said it was not necessary for you to have the paper parking pass? How can you get your free parking without it?

Just want to confirm:

I have an on-site reservation and I have booked FP+ s with it at 60 days.

So, if I cancel the on-site reservation, will I lose those FP+ s ?

What should the timing be, if I want to cancel the on-site reservation and if I want to keep the FPs? Should I wait till I'm in the 30 day window?

FYI: The throwaway room doesn't appear to give you the rolling 60 days for FP once your initial date has passed. I have a reservation for April 18-22nd, then I'm moving offsite. I was only able to make my FP selections through the 22nd. It is now making me wait until 30 days out to make the rest of my selections for April 23rd through the end of my trip. The throwaway room will not be as advantageous as it once was unless I'm just experiencing an unlucky fluke.

You've calculated incorrectly. The rolling 60 day window does not open for April 23rd until Sunday Feb 22 and each day thereafter.

Luckybee is correct, you will be able to book each subsequent day when that day is 60 days out....so in two or three days, you'll be able to book for April 23rd, and the next day for the 24th, etc.

What's the point to doing this? Just to get magic bands for the day? Wouldn't they only be good for whenever you are staying onsite? Or do they work for your whole trip that way? I'm lost...as usual.

I strongly suggest you read through some of the posts in this thread. It will explain things to you. In a nutshell the main reason to book a throwaway is that with a 1 night booking you get 60 day fp+ for all the nights you'll be in Orlando on a rolling basis as opposed to 30 days. In addition you get magic bands for your party, parking for the arrival and departure day and emh again for your arrival and departure day. A 1 night stay or throwaway both serve the same purpose.

Disney lists the checkin time for a campsite at 1pm. Will I be able to use the EMH the morning of my reservation before I checkin? Or if I check online will that allow me to take advantage of EMH at 7am?

Check-in online and you'll be fine. You won't need to stop by the resort at all.

Arriving tomorrow. I have a throwawyay "room" booked at the campsites. I just went to do the on line check in and it wants my cc info. I don't mind giving the info but what will happen when I do? Will I get a bill at the campsite on my last day for what I've charged at the parks?? If I do give my cc info will I be able to charge in the parks, even though we are staying off site? I don't see any way of being able to NOT give the cc info when checking in on line. PLEASE help, I'm leaving tomorrow and don't know what I'm supposed to do.

THANK YOU,

Karen

Thank you SO much...I've been sick and obviously not using my brain. I will try again to book more FP's tonight at midnight!!!!

In addition, some people I believe are using it for an extra band and sdfp

Think of it as though you were going to be sleeping at the campsite. For the time that you are checked in you should be able to charge on your magic band to your "room" .Yes there would be a bill at the end for anything that you charge. Once you "check out" you wont be able to charge any longer. The process is no different then a normal check in anywhere else.

Thank you so much for the reply Luckybee. I have actually checked in for the week. Long story short we were on the Disney Dream during what would have been part of the rolling 60 days so I just booked for the week so I could do FPs all in one night prior to the cruise. So anyway, as long as I am checked in (NOT in person) at the campsite I will be able to charge to the MBs? Obviously I won't be at the campsite on the last day to get the bill but I'm guessing that's OK too?
Thanks again,

Karen

Yes, you'll be able to charge for your length of stay and they'll email you the final statement.

karensi, if you wanted to cancel some of the nights, you could and you won't lose your FPs. They'll remain in your MDE account because your tickets are also linked there.

Sorry if this was already answered. So if I were to cancel my room, would I still be able to use EMH? I know the fast passes will stay. Thanks!

No. If you cancel the room you are no longer an on-site guest and you don't get any perks associated with being one. (You just don't lose the perks you've already used, like getting the MBs in the mail, and booking your FPs).
