Throwaway room (read post #2041 or #2710 before posting)

It was more commonly called "disconnected" around here. That's actually the first time I've noticed someone call it "off circuit" myself.

Thanks, I knew about the issues, just hadn't ever heard it called that and it's been a while since it applied so had completely left my radar.

No no....it was many many

But she now says 2002

Still not sure why she changes her name though...well maybe I am :lmao:

I guess you can't read. I couldn't remember the name, couldn't remember the password. If I was going to be on the boards, I really didn't have much choice.

Since you seem so interested, here's the story:

I don't know how long I was a member- I know it was at least 2002, because my girls graduated college in 2002, we went to Disney on a 2 week Christmas trip for part of their graduation gift and were given some really nice perks by a CM who frequented these boards. So I was a member then- how long before then, I don't know.

Then my husband became seriously ill and I got busy taking care of him. He was sick for a long time and there was no time to play around on forums or take Disney trips. Then he died. By that time I had been off for years and I wasn't interested in much of anything. It took me a couple of years to get back to where I used to be- if one every really does.

So, finally my daughter talked me into cruising and I thought about the Dis and came back. After all that had happened my screen name and password were lost to me and since most of the people I had known really well weren't around, didn't much matter if I started anew or not.

There- hopefully that satisfies all your curiosities.

Wow, I hope you got the answer you wanted Luckybee, if not I am sure there are some neighborhood kittens that need a strangling.

I thought threads with this much personal venom were closed out.

I will be honest i a $90 campsite allowed me to save hours in line or got me dinner readies early I would do it, pay 1 night for "X" amount of perks I would do it, and for those complaint it was wrong I'd say don't do it, don't go 1 mile over the speed limit, don't take a penny from the container at the quickly mart don't take tax breaks dot use coupons don't eat mets don't wear leather don't have your own kids, adopt and any other thing the can be considered "criminal" or selfish.

Yay I am apart of the hate thread

Is it of any value or interest to disney to even attempt to stop throwaway rooms?

Why do they care?

They don't. A sold room (and park admission) is all they want, not someone sleeping on site

I happen to love kittens so no I wont be doing that. Read between the lines....read a lot between the lines and check out what this poster has been doing and perhaps you'll understand. I have no interest in knowing her personal business and if I believed for one second the tale she just told then I'd feel badly but this poster has been twisting everything that a number of us have said, changing her story repeatedly. It was quite frankly time for her to be called on it.

So then, and like I kid my wife. .... If momma's happy, we're all happy. Lol

If anyone tells you definitively if it's of value to Disney or not, they're talking out their backsides.

No one knows what's of value to Disney or not. We have opinions and that's it. Some of it's based on what we've read or something a cm might have said, but no one has facts, only opinions.

It's my opinion that if this continues and there is enough of it happening that they'll care because 1) guests ( in general, there are exceptions) staying on site spend more money with Disney. They don't want to just sell the room, they want people physically on site and for several reasons, but mainly if you're on site, you're spending your money on site.
2) Single night bookings cut into long term bookings. I want to book today thru the 21st for example and the resort has lots of 7, 8 day openings but due to single night bookings, nothing available for that long- I don't book and they lose a bundle.

There may be more reasons others can provide but those are the ones that occur to me.

The only reason they would care is if it costs them money.

Do I care if Disney is losing bookings or money- not really, as long as they're making enough to keep the parks going and I don't think that's in question.

I care because Disney has a history of "fixing" loopholes to the detriment of on site guests. I'm tired of losing perks.

I really don't give a rats *** if you believe my story or not. As for you feeling badly for me- please- I don't care what you feel one way or the other.

You got the "story" because you and others just couldn't stop trying to figure out my nefarious reasons for being off the dis. Why I left, why I came back. Easier just to put it out there than try and figure out how to answer your ignorant questions and avoid saying it.

Uh once again No. You indicated that you'd been on these boards for "many many" years. Given that so far others and I have pointed out the absurd contradictions with regard to your bizarre positions, and your innate ability to continuously twist what others have said to suit your purposes, I was once again pointing out that many many years is not back to 2013. IF I was wrong about your motives for changing your name, and if you really have been on these boards for as long as you say then Im sorry.

Im not going to engage in further debate with you. You seem hell bent on stirring the pot as I have said a couple of times and do seem to relish in causing others to get riled up. I wont try to figure out your motives any longer as it is irrelevant to me.

Good, then we can just ignore each others posts. I think that works great.

I don't need nor want your sorry's. I didn't put that information out to get sympathy from anyone. I don't need it, I don't want it. . I put it out so the questions would be answered as it was clear the harping on it wasn't going to stop and there was no way to stop it without actually revealing what had happened.

In the spirit of ignoring you, I won't bother to respond to the other points you were attempting to make.

I'd suggest looking through this very lengthy thread. For the most part you'll see that most people agree that Disney really isn't interested in attempting to do so. Lots of info here and helpful hints as to how to do the throwaway if you're so inclined.

I could care less if somebody books a throw away room or campsite. Feel free to do that and get your FP+ for the check in and check out date. I object to then going offsite and continue to reap the on site harvest for the dates you are not onsite. I also think that if you cancel a reservation your FP+ should cancel too. Disney introduced the 60 day for onsite guests as a perk and off-siters want that perk too and will do whatever it takes to get it. Eventually Disney will close that loophole.

Yup.

Folks please keep to the topic of the thread.
Whether this is appropriate or not it is the responsibility of Disney.
I remind you all that 1 to 1 debates or attacks will not be tolerated.

Idk if this has been answered but I will tell you by my recent experience with my reservation. FP+ will only let you book FP's for the amount of your ticket media so the room ressie wouldn't matter. If you booked a 10 day stay and had a one day ticket you would only be able to make FP reservations for one day. I have a 6 night reservation but only a 3 day hopper, I'm also going to MNSSHP a 4th day, I did FPs for the day I go to MNSSHP an then it would only let me book 2 other days, MDE recognized I only had a ticket for 3 days it wouldn't count the 4th day because the MNSSHP hard ticket is not in the system. I see no reason to book a dummy stay.

This is it exactly. Imagine if I said I was booking a "throwaway room", just so I could have a place to sleep at night. Should I be forced to attend EMH and book ADR's every night just so I can use the benefit of sleeping in the room? Am I ripping Disney off if I just sleep in the room and never go to the parks? That's why this argument is so absurd.

Disney doesn't sell/rent ADRs or EMH access or any other perk offered to guests staying onsite, so your comparison is invalid.

This is true (although I thought I heard some had success linking the party tickets and booking FP+ - I could be mistaken). However, this discussion is more about the opposite - only having a 1-day stay but having a longer ticket, and using that 1-day stay to an advantage.

You should be able to make FP+ reservations from 4-7 PM for any hard ticket event, and it will not count toward your multi-day ticket. You should be able to link this hard ticket on MDE.

Not sure about the rest of your comments. No one is advocating making room reservations for longer than the length of ticket.

Booking a throwaway room would in essence booking over your purchased media with a plan (although no longer possible) to book extra FPs with additional magicbands, that's the point isn't it? I'm not advocating one way or another just stating what would or wouldn't work.
