BUT, I seriously doubt Disney does anything to stop this. It's too profitable for them and with the likelihood that ALL park tickets will be able to book advance FP+ very soon, it wouldn't make sense for them to "shut it off" just to turn it back on.

They may or may not make FP+ open to everyone. Likely? Yes. But not a definite.
As for profitability, If they think they are losing money by people only booking one night and limiting availability for those booking week long stays, I think Disney will change the rules on FP+. This is a public forum and it wouldn't be beyond belief that someone at Disney reads this or that a poster has notified Disney of this.
