Throwaway room (read post #2041 or #2710 before posting)

All of it added up makes a pretty convincing case to stay onsite and if throwaway rooms are an option, I can see them becoming big

And I can see if it becomes big, Disney putting the brakes on it. I'm surprised they haven't already, but I suspect the reason is there isn't enough of it to make it worth ticking off people who have legitimate reasons to book a single night. Once this got big with free dining, they fixed it. So, keep it small, keep it quiet and it will probably last a while.

I think that I would have to be within 30 days to move with ruining my FP, right? That basically the 60 day window was only open because of my campsite booking the first day of our stay and moving our stay to the last day would make my bookings invalid? But if I changed the reservation on November 16 this would be 30 days out anyway so it might work? :confused3

If you are within your 30 days, this definitely won't affect your FP bookings. FP is tied to your tickets not your reservation. It's just the date of your booking that opens up FP for booking at 60 days out. The general consensus is that the FP's will remain, even at over 30 days out. There have been reports of both FP's remaining and FP's disappearing. I would try and wait for the 30 days if possible to be safe.

I have magic band for upcoming trip, ticket linked, MDE account and have booked FP+ 60 days out. My DH has MB no park tickets. Can I take his MB or my MB from my past visit into the park and make same day FP's? Thanks in advance

If the Magic Band is connected to a MDE account, you can't use more than one MB per person per MDE account to book FP+.

Ok, here's a question - we have a room only reservation for one night and a package starting the next day. We have received magic bands for both of those rooms and both are showing active. Can I use the bands from the one night room only ressie to book additional FPs. Both sets of bands show in MDE as active.

No. Your Magic Bands are connected to your MDE and therefore a single ticket per person.

We just got back from our trip Oct 1-6th. We had a throwaway campsite on Oct. 2. We did NOT physically check in at the campground. We only did the online check in. ALL of our FP's worked perfectly! We had no issues at all with using our Magicbands, FP's, or free parking. Your FP's will work if you do the online check in. No need to worry!

So do the parking attendants at the park just scan your bands? You don't have to have the paper parking passes anymore? We booked a 1 night campsite also and I was planning on getting up and checking in at 6am so that we could get our parking passes, but if this isn't needed that would be wonderful!

FWIW this poster could tell you you're fine and then something changes tomorrow. Personally I would just go over and get the parking pass or be prepared to put out the $17./$18. I forget which.

I don't know if the "automatic parking pass" has been enabled for everyone doing online check-in yet, but I would think it would be by now. But don't take my word for it...things change daily. :)

You should totally do what you feel comfortable with but wanted to let you know that we also did online check and did not go to the campgrounds and was able to have the MBs scanned for our free parking this past June. It worked for 2 cars on our check-in day and 3 cars on the check-out day. We had a party of 10 but 1 of the cars forgot to get them to scan their band for free parking on the check-in day since they were not wearing it when going through the gate. We didn't just show the band and got waved through. They were actually scanned. I would not hesitate to do the same if we had a throwaway. Can't imagine why they would do away with this working but again, you should do what you feel comfortable with.

If you had to pay, couldn't you go to the resort later that day and get refunded? I thought before MBs that that was Disney's policy but since I never had to do it I really can't say 100%.

Edited to add: We took a printed copy of our reservation but wasn't asked for any proof beyond scanning our MB which I assumed showed we were onsite for that day.

Question - I'd like to book a 1 night throwaway room in order to get the 180+10 ADR's and 60-day FP.

Does the 1 night qualify for 180+10 & 60+?? days out for ADR/FP?

Or does my throwaway room need to be for my length of stay?

Thank you.

If you want the +X advantage for the entire stay, the room reservation must be that length.

A single day basically gets you +1 - check-in and check-out day.

That appears to include ADRs now, although the reports I have seen are a bit inconsistent still.

Imagineer5 - What doconeill posted was exactly my experience. I booked a throwaway room for our upcoming Thanksgiving week vacation.

ADRs - I was able to get 180 + length of stay online. Over the phone, I was able to get more than that, but they may have closed up that loophole by now.

FP - I was able to get 60 + length of stay. However, it appears that once the 60 days is opened up, it stays open. What that means is you can book each day's FP at 60 days out. If this didn't exist, you'd be able to book your FPs at 60 days out for the first 2 days, and then it would revert back to 30 for your other days. That's not what happens. Each day, at 60 days out, I booked another day of FPs.

If it matters to you, you will also get MagicBands and free parking for your check in and check out day. In addition, you'll be eligible for Be Our Guest FP if that's something you're interested in.

Yes, I forgot to mention that...it still stands that once you've hit the 60 day window, it stays at 60 days from the date in question until you've reached your actual check-in date, when it snaps back to 30 days.

Is booking a throwaway campsite still a practice? I could just cry. We love tent camping for long trips at Disney and for the first time ever, we can't get more than 5 days in a row for ANY of our potential trip dates.

Super, super bummed.

VP

Then complain to Disney, ask them are they aware of throw away campsites, talking about it here will get you no where, complaining to them, if enough complain will.

So for those who booked a campsite, would on line check in work in order to get early entry to a park on the check-in day?

I don't know, when others step up and say they don't like this, it lets others know that there's someone else that thinks like them and might motivate them to write Disney as well. So, in reality, it probably does help.

But I agree, people should write Disney about this particular loophole as well as others that are being taken advantage.

Yes, they scan your Magic Bands and access to EMH starts on your check in date. As long as you have the Magic Bands, you're fine

Curiosity has me wondering do you get the EMH for longer than your 1 night check in check out day? I have always wondered what the scanner says when they scan your band for EMH. Do you get EMH for more than the 1 night ? :confused3 :goodvibes

I have not seen any reports of this happening, and I would be surprised if it did. Anything can happen. I just wouldn't count on it.

I think it's the same thing as anyone else after they have checked out. Even if you stayed for 14 days, after your check out day, I don't think you would be able to get onsite privileges any more.

You get it for the _days_ of your stay. So if you book one night, you get EMH for the check-in AND the check-out day.

Scanning the bands accesses the reservation dates, and says whether you are currently within your reservation.
