Throwaway Room and Ticket Question

I’m not trying to be mean but just stumbled across this practice recently! I’ve been blown away by extremely busy crowd levels at all times of the year now! I’m not saying this is the sole reason but it certainly doesn’t help! Now today seeing blogs from UK advising all to do this, I’m assuming it’s made it’s way to all over the US and abroad! And the original post started on Disboards in 2016! Hoping Disney has closed the loophole!

Those of us on the camping forum appreciate those of you who don't approve of this practice. While I understand why it is used, to save money, it does block someone from getting a campsite that would actually be USING the campsite. Just something to consider.

Appreciate it.

Here’s a link to the original thread started 2 years ago! You might want to post your comment there but be prepared, the Moderators of this blog don’t see anything wrong with this practice! As long as post doesn’t mention cancelling the additional nights it’s ok! Which floors me also!!!

Here’s link to email Disney World guest services which I’ve also done many times!

I have had direct PM with Webmaster Pete over that thread and even he told me that he does not approve of it. He and I talked about the moderators as well. That thread, at that time was stuck up at the top like a billboard sign. That was removed after our discussion about it. Now whether it was done because Pete took action, or what, I do not know.

As I said, I understand why. The reasons I camp at FW numerous, but one of them is affordability. Disney prices are stupid high, and going higher. People want to be able to go and take their kids, so they try to find affordable ways to do it. I get that, and can't say anything bad about that. I just hope they realize that camping is some peoples ONLY way to be able to go, and by wasting the site it keeps them from going. Some people can live with it, that's them.

This is Disney's fault for not fixing the loophole. They are losing money because of this, that's obvious enough.

Yes I agree but also adding into the crowding issue at all times! And now good neighboring hotels will be allowed to perks of staying inside Disney! These hotels are much cheaper then WDW resorts so why cheat the system? There are 2 threads, one under parks (on 2nd page) and one under resorts (on first page #12 down) that are still easily found! I’ve seen an UK blog where it is openly discussed and refers to this blog in getting the info! So kudos to the Moderators & Webmaster!

Well, maybe some of the moderators...

I literally tried it last night. I book a campsite 60 days out for one night. I have 5 day tickets. It only let me make FP for the two days of the reservation. And then when I canceled it, it told me twice that any FP selections would be canceled with my room.
Could this have been because you weren't trying to cancel within 30 days from the date of arrival? Perhaps the FP would have stayed put if you were closer to the date, and within 30 days of your reservation.

Totally possible. My little experiment only tested it at 60 days.

This is correct. FPs stay intact when inside 30 days.

In fairness, the Hotel Plaza Boulverd properties used to have more of the perks offered to onsite visitors. I'm sure of EMH, although it may have ended before/around when Evening EMH started.

I had a question actually. I will be going to Disney and staying at a resort 5 days and will be getting 5 day passes. However, I will not be using all of the my tickets consecutively/ and during those 5 days but 1 or 2 will be used a days after my stay at the resort. (family reasons). Will I still be able to reserve my FP 60 days before my reservation even if those 2 days are past my actual stay at the resort?

i don't like the whole fast pass thing. It used to be required for you to be at the park. Tickets were dispensed over the day and you could get fast passes. Now if a person doesn't plan way ahead and try to get FP the wait times in the park are just miserable. I know it was not this way 40 years ago. People basically go for the FP and then head back to the hotel and back out again later. Its a totally different way of doing Disney with massive crowds.

You should be able to, but for absolute information see the pinned threads on t he Theme Parks Advice & Strategies forum.

Well, it wasn't this way 40 years ago because Fast Pass wasn't introduced until 19 years ago. I disagree that the touring style has changed. There have always been and always will be diehards, and there have always been and always will be visitors who take midday breaks, and many other styles of touring. But most important, Walt Disney World attendance has been increasing annually.

I am betting this still works like a charm. I went in and booked a room at ASSports for five days before my check in date at POR on June 1 and it moved my Fast Pass day from April 2 to March 28th on my MDE. I went back in after I seen the effect on my Fast Pass day and cancelled the room there, but sure enough, it moved it up by five days.
