O.K., O.K., I know you are never, never, ever supposed to expect a towel animal, but I REALLY WANT ONE. We just spent 10 days at the POLY in June and never got one in spite of the tips left for the mousekeeper. Now I'm taking my 4 yr old DD to CBR for a week with the Fairytale package and I would like to know what to do to encourage the mousekeeper to work some magic for us. Any ideas?

We got towel animals (bunny, bird, swans) and other interesting washcloth things at POR when we were there just a few weeks ago. I don't know how or why we got them. We don't tip mousekeeping so I don't think tipping has anything to do with it. Also another part of our family was staying there also just 9 rooms away and they didn't get any towel animals. I think it just has to do with the maid that is doing your room.

We stayed in POR for our wedding/honeymoon in Feb. and I was *really* looking forward to getting a towel animal:-) Every day we tipped Mousekeeping, and every day we would get a signed thank you note; on our wedding day we got a congratulations note as well. After 4 days, and no towel animal, my DH decided it wouldn't hurt to ask:-P So he left our Mousekeeper a very polite note saying that I really liked towel animals, would it be possible for her to make one, we'd really appreciate it; if not that was fine, but he wondered if it was possible. That night we had an elephant and a note saying that she wasn't very good at them, but she tried. lol! I was thrilled:-)

We had the same woman every day except one - that night we returned to a plethora of towel flowers, hearts, animals, folded towels on the tub to hold the Mickey soaps, etc. They were even decorated with little cut-outs from the coasters. Then we realized why our regular Mousekeeper said she didn't think she was good at them. But we didn't care, a towel animal is a towel animal:-) We were sad to leave our new pets when we returned home;-)

Good luck getting your own pets on your next visit!!

I feel your pain, after numerous on site trips including concierge stays, we have never recieved a towel animal:( We have been the reciepiants of other magic, but alas, not one towel animal.

The best was though, we were in Montreal this past Easter and every night we got TOWEL ANIMALS!!!!!!!! Go figure.

The only time I've received a towel animal was at the All-Stars LOL. So it goes to show that I think it's just the maid you get, doesn't matter if you're in a deluxe or value, concierge or regular room. I think if you were really wanting one bad, so much that you would be disappointed if your stay didn't include one, I would try to arrange it through housekeeping or the front desk of the resort, and make it a special request and see what they say. If the maid you were supposed to have usually doesn't do those, they might go out of their way to switch the maid for that one room for that day so you could get them, or another maid could make one and give it to your maid to place in the room, if you made a request like that. I don't know if they would be willing to do that or not, but never hurts to ask!

We've had towel animals almost daily at every resort we've stayed at in the last 5 years. We've stayed at the CBR, the WL, and the Poly. We were just at the Poly in May and the mousekeeper was great! We had at least two animals every day except for the two days she was off. Apparantly the other maid didn't make them. But the animals we got were generally huge! From wildebeasts to life size monkeys swinging from the canopy bed, they were all great. I know we are not supposed to expect them but my 4 y/o, and okay, myself also, would be deeply disappointed if we didn't get them! That was the highlight of coming back to the room to see what special thing she had made. I would never ask for one or not tip because I didn't get any. I just think that after getting them on every trip I would be let down if we didn't one time. We are spoiled! I don't know why some get them and some have never seen them. Good luck and I hope you get some next time!

Wildebeast & Life size monkeys!!!!

Now I am really jealous.

I don't remember if we got them at the Boardwalk Villas, but I distinctly remember getting them at the Wildnerness lodge, and we never tipped. We had the same mousekeeper every day, and she was wonderful. I was with 2 girlfriends of mine and all of our bath and bodyworks girly stuff. I remember she made comment of how wonderful our room smelled, and she would leave us tons of mickey soaps and stuff each day, and would always arrange our stuff very nice on the vanity. As to the towel animals we got a few, but what was more fun was how she'd arrange our souveniers each day on our be, on the balcony, on the tv etc. She was great. All we really did was say hi to her in the hallway each day. Of course we left her a tip on our last day.
At the the villas, we had a suite with an adjoining room, I'm sure we had something, but it wasn't nearly as memorable. I think its just a hit or miss thing, but I would never purposely pay for them. We went on a Royal Caribbean Cruise for our honeymoon and we got at least one a day, if not more and our cabin steward even taught us how to make one, they are fun, and we never took them apart, we had a virtual zoo in our room after 7 days, but they certainly worth stressing over. Don't let it make or break your vacation. There are much more magical things at disney than a towel animal.

I really hope that our maid at POR makes towel animals. Im trying not to get my hopes up, but I would love to come back to that after a day in the parks and see my kids faces light up!

Of all the times I've been to Disney I've never seem towel animals either. I guess the maid just didn't know how to make them. She did always seem to do something cute with our pillows and stuffed animals that we brought from home and our souveniers. I too would like to see them at POR in a few weeks but if not, no big loss.

Last week I was at a referb room at Coronado which was great. Our maid did animals there. I saw her in our neighbors window arrange two childrens bears to greet the family when they returned! She even wrote us a thank you note for her tips which she was thankful for..... What a nice CM!

We left cheery little notes along with the tip at CBR. But I think it depends on the housekeeper. I like not knowing if and when I might get a towel animal.

We were in building 16 last year and receiving a ton of towel animals each day! The kids couldn't wait to get back in the room and check it out. They weren't allowed to touch them though. I had to take pictures first. On our last full day there, we came back to find all our stuffed animals looking at the floor, there our stuffed animal dog was "chewing" toilet paper that he brought from the bathroom, the toilet paper was still intact to the roll. It was hilarious.

It does make the trip more memorable. And it's easier for the kids to get back to the room after a long day at the parks. I hope we have a magical mousekeeper at the GF next month!

On our first stay at POR in Nov. 2000 mousekeeping always did something cute with the kids stuffed animals. They were so excited to come back to the room and see what had been done.

Our last trip to the Poly in Dec. 2002 the only thing was one night when I noticed "Ariel's" signature on the steamed up mirror. Other than that no towel animals (in fact one day the maid left all their stuffed animals in a heap on the floor!) and never a thank you for the tip we left every day.

I guess it just depends on who you get. The kids were dissappointed.

if you leave some stuffed animals around the room, they will often use them in the arrangements.....the kids love that.

I've just returned from the Caribbean Beach, we stayed in Jamaica building 43. We had towel animals almost every day. If we didn't have towel animals then she had done something with the stuffed toys we had bought. Even came back one day to find Pal Mickey watching TV, she had even turned the TV round so he could see properly.

We had a great Mousekeeper one day at the G.F. We came back from our day at the parks late...just after turndown time, to find our huge stuffed Winnie The Pooh, sitting up in bed (under the covers), with our sunglasses on, with a remote control in his paw, watching The Disney Channel. Everyone was in hysterics over it. We ran to find the Mousekeeper that did it and she was so pleased that we enjoyed it so much.

It really was a very special treat!

In November of 2002 we stayed at Poly Conceirge level and we got towel animals everyday for my 2 DD's. I think we got a few extra ones because housekeeping knew how sick my daughter was and that we had taken her to the hospital twice during that trip. They were very good in housekeeping to us as well I wasn't having them clean up the mess of a sick child and they said that was their job to which I said no it's not new bedding is all that I expected them to do which they did and went out of there way to leave special towel animals for her and balloons. It was one of the worst trips we have ever had but the suprises in the room made it better. We leave in 5 days for our next trip I can only pray we aren't in the hospital for 5 days this time wish me luck all.

Just an idea (and I know it's not what you're looking for), but if all else fails and it's very important that you get a towel animal for your dd, how about learning to make em yourself?

http://home.g-net.net/~cbrock/TowelAnimals.html (I think this link only works for IE)

I know it's not as good as the real thing, but it's not a bad skill to learn- you can always practice at home before you go and surprise her when you get there!
