Thrilled that my wait list just came through for Thanksgiving at SSR for Anniversary trip and sad that due to airfare prices being so astronomical I will probably have to cancel. It would have been DH's 1st DVC trip and my 2nd.
Just wondering if anyone knows of some good websites I should try before giving up.

Where are you looking to fly out of? I live in south jersey and its cheaper for me to fly out of atlantic city than Philadelphia. For example

I usually check a couple websites, but lately I seem to like Hipmunk. You can set up a fare alert. Same with some other sites, like Trip Advisor. Thanksgiving is that time of year where flights tend to skyrocket. We are going the week of Thanksgiving this year and we booked our flights in January for $217. I just checked them and the same flights are now $702. :crazy2:

I've used Kayak and Yapta. Be sure to check surrounding airports as well.

Where are you coming from? Is it possible to drive instead of fly? I know vacation time can limit one's ability to drive, but before giving up on a Disney holiday . . . :drive:

Depending on where you are flying from, Southwest is running a sale right now. Check out their site.

Can you drive instead? If you can plan to drive, just keep checking flights.

That is what we have been doing the past few years. Our trip this fall was going to be over $2000.00 (we usually pay between $700-$900 for the three of us) but we kept checking flights and about a month ago, we got flights for $800.

Our trip for early next year is coming up as $3700.00 :scared1: ….are they nuts! We are planning to drive but will continue to check flights until then. We are even considering the auto-train which will be $900.00 for coach seats for the three of us….one way…so we are thinking of driving down and taking the train back up.

Thank you! I've never heard of Hipmunk. Will set it up.

Driving would have been a terrific option except impossible to take off more days.

Friends took the Auto train this summer and loved it. It was so convenient with the car packed and pulling right up to the room.

We have taking the auto train several times to disney. Like the airlines they have tiered pricing, so the quicker you book the cheaper it can be. We usually get a family cabin which adds to the cost of the trip.

Try Kayak.Com, you can even set it up to email you when prices drop to your destination of choice.

Another vote for the auto-train. We have used it many times. We love being able to load everything we need in the car. It leaves Sanford, Virginia at 4pm and gets in at 9am. We're rested and ready to go! As the other poster mentioned, we get a sleeper. I like it much more than driving or flying.

Check DCA (in DC). Might be a bit of a drive you hadn't planned on, but we get some great deals on JetBlue out of DCA. Also could check BWI and Southwest. I look directly at airline websites and I also check via Expedia.

We hated the autotrain and it was just as expensive as flying...but you could check it out (they do AAA discounts).
