I have been to Disney once and only once so far, this past Nov. I did go on several thrill rides and found them amazing. I am going back again this year with Mom and Dad, and want to know what are the best factors to consider for the thrill rides for those in their 60's. Keep in mind, my parents have not been to an amusement park in about 20 years. Which one's are not that bad, which would be questionable for someone with high blood pressure etc. I ask only because I went on a lot of the rides but at the time didn't think of the particulars with each one, I more or less just screamed my head off and cheered!! Thanks in advance for your advice and info...

60's isn't TOO old, but I would be a little concerned about rides that may be a little rough, or be very difficult to get in and out.

I guess I'd warn about:

- Space Mountain - Can bang you around and the vehicle may be tough to enter/exit
- Dinosaur - really loud and shaky
- Primeval Whirl - another potential for banging around
- Mission:Space (spinning side) - green side should be fine

As long as some speed and drops don't bother them, I think rides like Tower of Terror, Rock n' Roller Coater, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Everest, Test Track etc. should be fine. For the most part these rides are smooth, and I've seen plenty of folks in thier golden years enjoying them.

I'm close to 60s, and I find more problems with the moving walkways to get in/out of rides than the rides themselves. The hardest one, that comes to mind first, is Spaceship Earth. I also don't like getting into Buzz Lightyear (although I love the ride), getting off TTA, getting on HM.

Thanks very much- many of the rides mentioned and described I haven't gone on yet so this is very helpful.

I'm 63 and have high blood pressure, and the only rides I don't do are Space Mountain, EE and RnRC. I also don't do rides that spin, but that's a motion sickness issue rather than an age-related one. Actually, EE & RnRC are motion sickness issues, too. SM I don't ride because it's too rough.

20 years with no amusement parks will probably be the big issue. Start them small and move from there.

My grandmother at 80 rides Everest multiple times in a row. She'll make the drive to Disney just to do Coasters. She actually almost had my mother believing that she could ride TOT and leave right before the drops started. :rotfl2:

I'm 60 and my husband is 63 and we like everything except EE (primarily because I am leary of sudden drops) but I LOVE splash mountain. DH's favorite is Mission Space (probably because he is a former Air Force pilot), but he has occasional back and neck problems so he won't ride the real jerky ones if he is feeling any pain when we go. I guess everything is up to the individual, but if you don't try everything once you will never know! I may even get gutsy and try EE next time.

If they're healthy, they set their own limitations based on likes/dislikes. My father absolutely detested spinning and refused to go on the tea cups at Disneyland--regardless of his age! *LOL* My mother disliked heights and felt the same way about Dumbo. :) Both rode the flume ride at Knott's Berry Farm when they were in their early to mid-70s (similar to Splash Mountain, but not as well themed).

Regardless of my age, I detest drops (ToT) and I'm not fond of anything that goes upside down (RnRC). I've done each once at WDW and ToT at both DHS and CA--and never will do either one again! For some reason, the flume drop at the end of Splash Mountain doesn't particularly both me. Go figure!

you might be surprised.

definitely do soarin'

happen to love Mission:space - the orange side - will be 59 in a couple of months.

just depends upon them.

now what you mean about that darn floor....

Hah,
My kids told me that they thought the ECV's WERE the thrill rides for
seniors...... said when I reached "that age" they would just park me on the monorail and pick me up on the way out.... I am starting to wonder about my kids,
