Next year, I am retiring after serving 20 years in the US Navy. So...this year, I will be taking each son on a special vacation and DS10 chose WDW. That's my boy!!!!!!

We are taking a red-eye (DS10's preference) and arriving for four nights at AKL (Jambo-SV Studio) and then four nights at VWL (Studio). DS10 wants to try out some new experiences in dining so we are doing the DxDDP for the first leg.

LEAVE

With our snack credits, we will fill in the areas missing. We are not huge eaters, but are very excited to try several new places. We have only eaten at Yak & Yeti (LOVE), Boma, and Les Chef's de France in our many trips. I originally had 1900 Park Fare for dinner on 02Apr and HDDR without WPC on the first night, but think that would really be too much. We really want to do 1900 Park Fare for the characters, but we both also really want to do HDDR. We can do the earliest dinner time for Park Fare and do the late HDDR, take out WPC, and pay OOP at RFC on the first night. I am a Safari Club member and don't spend much on the meal.

What do you guys think?

If you are doing DxDP, I don't think you are going to have to be Thrifty at all. You only have one meal that requires 2 credits (unless I am missing something) and not even ADRs for every meal. I'm sure you will be able to share more than the one meal you need to share right now. If you want to be Thrifty, you might need to book do room service or book more Signatures or HDDR twice. (I am actually considering doing this for my sons, since they always like things better the second time.)

I asked on here and researched 1900 for my boys (10,12 and 3) and the reviews were not good at all. Seems like people preferred every place except 1900 for food and boys. If you really want 1900, can you go for breakfast or lunch instead? I wouldn't miss HDDR for 1900 with a 10 yr old son.

Anyway, it looks like a great time and congratulations and thank you for your twenty years of service.

I should have used a different word than 'thrifty'. I am trying to stretch the meals over the five days to minimize any out of pocket costs. I thing we are going to cancel 1900 Park Fare and grab an OOP snack/lite CS meal to hold us over. DS10 still wants to do the late HDDR vice moving up to an earlier one. We can eat breakfast in the room and I will move our lunch ressie later.

I would question why you would take boys to Akershus for Breakast when it's a princess meal. princess::rolleyes1 Just sayin'. There may be better options here, perhaps Cape May Cafe for their character breakfast. pirate:

What days are you staying there? Do you have Deluxe or regular? I'm looking at it that you have 24 meals to spend and you haven't spent them based on these adr's :confused3. I'm not sure why you are paying OOP at all.

I don't see any reason for OOP either. Especially with the two snacks. There are tons of things you could get for breakfast or lunch with snack credits. I would say, go ahead and use your meal credits at restaurants where you really want them, then use a "Snack" when you just need something lighter.

It took a minute for me to figure out, but I think that looks like a really good plan. It has you using up all your deluxe plan credits and stretching them right up until the end of your check out day for the first part of the stay, and then you have more affordable meals planned for the second half.

The only thing I might change, since you are traveling with your son and probably don't have any urgent need to see the princesses, would be to cancel Akershus and use the extra credit change your Boma dinner to Jiko. The food is really amazing, one of the best of the signatures and well worth the two credits.

Enjoy the father-son time! The whole trip sounds like a great way to celebrate your retirement. :)

and on your last day of DXddp - you can use your left over snacks to buy muffins and fruit for breakfast for your next few days.

Actually it is Mother/Son time. Since I have boys, we have never done a Princess meal in the many, many, WDW and DL trips. But since we are doing DxDDP and spending the day at EPCOT, it works out perfectly. DS10 doesn't even mind that since he loves a breakfast buffet! Plus being in the military for almost 20 years, it will be nice to do something girly for a change!

I am taking advantage of the military four day pass w/o park hopping so we will spend one day in each park. We would rather do Water Parks and More. Plus we are going to US/IOA for a day. I am going to need a vacation from my vacation.

Dinning plans look great. My son hated 1900 park fare for dinner but loved breakfast. Tigger and the mad hatter where super fun. the food was great
