If your booked for the end of August - check your rates (dont forget about the SAMS promo code) - I HAD what I thought was a good deal - then Thursday they dropped, so I called my brother and had him change his ressie, he saved a bunch and was happy - but he didnt call me, so I check the rates for his trip, and his wife told me what they were paying... uhmm... did you use the code cause I am showing a difference. Turns out the rates are EVEN LOWER today... I am sorry but 95$ midsize 7 day rental is unbeatable.

I love saving money.

Hey what is the SAMS promo code? I just booked with National and with all my codes and discounts I am still paying $147 per week plus all those crazy fees they now add onto the car rental. ANy codes appreciated,

thanks

DEE

www.mousesavers.com has a list of car rentals in Orlando and promo's. To see them all - go there. SAMS is the Sams Club code. There are also contract ids for flat rates. Mary has them as promo codes but they go in the box to the left of the promo box.

Happy hunting.

I can't believe how low they are, I already have a fullsize with National through Priceline for $157, I could have gotten the midsize through Thrifty for $130, oh well, at least I don't have to deal with a shuttle. :thumbsup2

I am always on mousesavers, thats how I booked my National car. I used all of her codes, I am aaa and emerald aisle with National, but I am not a Sams club member, can I use the code anyway for THrifty?

Dee - did you try "WMRT"? (also shown on Mousesavers for Thrifty) I was playing around with codes last night, and I think it gave about the same discount as the "SAMS" code.

I was able to reserve a minivan with thrifty through Orbitz for Aug 17th - 30th for 179 a week! Then I called then up and added the SAMS discout (do they check for a Sams Card?) for another 10% off :) Total 2 week rental of a minivan with all fees and taxes...$414!

I just tried it from thrifty's sitewith the WMRT code and got the same $414 rate.

Thank you so much for the info! I just saved another $90.00 on our 16 day mini-van rental. I had Dollar for $574 and just booked with Thrifty instead for $483.00! For that price we will deal with the shuttle!

Thank You
Barbara

Barbara,

Try to reserve again...I just did with the WMRT code and it was even cheaper! $353 total vs the previous $414.

GO BLUECHIP. You will thank me.
I have stood in line at the airport counters longer then it took me to catch the shuttle to Thrifty. Shuttles are quick and comfy, and if your Bluechip, you tell the driver your name, when you get to the thrifty office you go to the VIP counter and its sign and drive. Twice my car was out front, with the air on, ready to go to Disney World.

The shuttle is a pleasure :)

Ishy, thanks for the advice! We were going to do the ME, but when I saw this thread, I checked rates for 8/23-30. I got a mid-size for $78 for a week!!!! $111 after taxes and surcharges. It's worth it. My e-mail states estimated total. So, you think I should sign up for this blue chip thing? We don't rent cars very often. Should I bother?

I POSTED THIS ON ANOTHER THREAD YESTERDAY....CONSISTENT WITH OP!

Just an FYI....Thrifty car rental prices for a mid-size have dropped really low for end of August. I've been checking weekly and they are at the lowest right now.......$94.50 for the week and only an additional $15 for each add'l day. Total for 8/24-8/31 comes to $149.74 after all fees/taxes, etc.... Haven't looked at other categories, but I assume they are low as well!

This is the lowest I have seen......and I have been searching! Blue Chip is worth it! We rented for a week last year and received a free day coupon to use this year.....so another $15 or so should ultimately be deducted from my low price above :cool1:

Andy-

Thank you! I just got my 16 day rentat 8/24- 9-9 for $412.00! WOW and to think just a couple of months ago the best I could find was around $700.00! What a deal!

Thanks again,
Barbara

If your not buying the offered insurance and your relying on your credit card or car insurance co to cover any accidents (dont mean to be gloom and doom) You should check how many days they will cover. Since my insurance and cards would not cover a 16 day rental (I think max was 14 days), when I took an extra long vacation - I broke it into two rentals. This required me to drop off the first car - we did 9 days in orlando and were doing the rest on the Gulf Beaches so we switched to a minivan at that point. Just a warning and passing on information from my own experience - tho we didnt have an accident, we were thrown out of our condo on the beach for Charley, and couldnt get a hotel room in Tampa -- Orlando was booking up... so we stayed near Sea World - as soon as we settled in - Charley took a turn away from ST Pete and came straight for us. I was worried like heck about something hitting the minivan or damaging it. glad i broke it up.

I thought it couldnt possibly go any lower - well I was wrong, redid my rental this morning and BAM - saved another 10 bucks!

Thats a Tshirt!

Check your ressies people... I am happy I did!

OMG... thanks for posting. For my dates, it is about $123 inclusive for 7 days (WMRT code). Rates have really come down across the board this last week...

WOW -- I am so glad I keep checking back. Thanks to all that are posting your great rates! Last week I had a minivan reserved for our 16 day rental for 574, now I have it for $383! What a Savings! I am now VERY VERY happy with this rate!

Ishy-

Thanks for the advise on checking for the insurance coverage beyond 14 days. I just checked into this and we are covered for 30 days! PHEW!!! Thanks for the information though I would not want to be without insurance!
