In case anyone is looking - I just booked a mid size with Thrifty for 10 days starting the day after Thanksgiving. The other sizes were alot higher than the mid so maybe its a special today. It was lower today than yesterday.

Hope it helps someone.

OH MY GOSH!!! I think it just helped me!! I had been finding rates for the week before Thanksgiving for 200.00 and up (mostly up), but just reserved one on Thrifty for 150.00 TOTAL!!! :sunny: (including taxes and every imaginable surcharge!)

I am going to call to confirm. It was saying something about a Wal-Mart CC, but I don't think you have to use that.

RichNKatHolly, was there any catch to this that I missed? This is an actual airport location isn't it?

Thank you so much for this tip. I was getting kind of discouraged b/c I had planned on about $150.00 for the car, and I couldn't find that price. Now if SW will just come out w/ some good fares!!! :cool1:

I had to use the KW18 code for my reservation so try one more time with that code first. They are off site but right outside the airport entrance. I have read on the boards that the shuttle is prompt. The price we got is about 1/2 what I've been qouted elsewhere, so a shuttle is fine with me!

Good luck with SW. I couldn't wait for their fares any longer and booked with USA3000. Hoping for good things from them.

Take care!!!

I have used Thrifty several times in the past and the shuttle is very convenient. It is only a 5-10 minute ride and the shuttle runs continously from the rental car level of the terminal.
I have also used the WMRT code with no problems. I have never had to use a Walmart CC or even show one. I believe that the KW18 code is associated with the Orlando Magic Card and you may have to show that in order to use the code. You can check on the Mousesavers site on how to download a free card.
Make sure you sign up for the Blue Chip program at Thrifty. There is a special line for BC members and the clerks do not pressure you about additional insurance.

Thank you so much for the heads up. I was able to get a midsize for $141 inclusive for 10/1 - 10/9. Now to figure out how to get all of our luggage & stroller to fit. Looks like myself and our daughter will be taking ME while DH and MIL go to pick up the car. They can get the car and head to POP where we will meet up with them.

I used the SAMS code because I am a Sam's Club Member .. it mentioned having to have a Wal-Mart credit card ... I don't ... wonder what problems that will create???

I am going to call and check on the WM card thing either tonight or tomorrow morning. We have a Sams card, but no WM Visa or anything. I kind of feel like it will be fine b/c I have a reservation confirmation and all. I will post after I call.

I did read on Mousesavers that the WM card thing is an error and you do not need one. For the KW18 we will have to download the Magicard but that is free and easy.

We will probably have to pack lightly to fit everything in the mid size, but it's quite a savings so we will make it work. If DH or my sister have to sit on a suitcase, so be it! :goodvibes

Yikes .. that will be a tight squeeze with everyone & luggage. Are you bringing a stroller or do you rent from the parks??

I priced an SUV this morning. For the extra $100 I think it might be worth it for all of us to travel together and be comfortable heading to POP. My initial thought was to split up and I take DD on the ME Bus and DH and his Mom pick up the car and meet us at the hotel. I'll have to see what my husband thinks.

Actually, we used to own a Grand Am (a bit larger than the mid size) and it was quite roomy. The 3 kids will sit in the back possibly with a carry on or 2 on the floor, and we only have an umbrella stroller (will probably rent a double in the parks). Plus, we will only be doing a few trips that will include the luggage.

I've started packing very light since usually we don't wear 1/2 of what we pack :) .

It will work. For us anyway, we really have to go by price on this one since we just had some unexpected expenses that crept into our Disney $$ :guilty: .

If it wasn't for that, I would probably fork over the extra $100 for more room too.

Can I ask where you qouted the SUV for only $100 more? I haven't been able to get one below $300. Thanks!

Oh crud ... I thought I had taken the reservation through the "almost booked" screen when I saw the price of $243.00 but like a dork I hadn't gone the final step. Once they tack on the final final fees it comes to $289. That was on Thrifty's site with the SAMS code. 10/1 - 10/9

I was initially seeing $141.88 for midsize and $245.98 for SUV so I thought "Cool -- just $100 more for extra room"

I HATE when that happens. Today I saw a midsize for $120 and was so excited. Well, fast forward to the second screen and it was up to $300! That is just so ridiculous! Kind of like our 22% sales tax on hotel rooms here in NYC. 22%!

I hope you find a better rate for a larger car. I will be looking every few days and will definately post if something comes up. A few weeks ago we did get a price for a small SUV (rav4) from Budget for $265 total for 8 days so they are out there.
