Thrifty fears

DH and I are in Orlando this upcoming weekend. We have a great rate with Thrifty that we couldn't pass up. However, we are nervous about the negative aspects that has been conveyed on these boards: drivers demanding tips, pushy sales counter. Anything one can do to make the rental run more smoothly?

Thanks!

I have rented with Thrifty a couple of times and never encountered a driver asking for tips.

The rental agent did push the insurance pretty heavily, but there is a simple way to avoide that; join Thrifty's Blue Chip Club, which will let you go to a different line and not be sold insurance. Blue Chip is free and will save you a lot of time and hassle, because with Blue Chip you fill out a master rental contract ahead of time, so when you arrive at the counter all you have to do is sign out your car and get moving.

You should tip a courtesy shuttle driver IF he helps you with your luggage.

In Vegas Thrifty combined a hard sell for the insurance with an aggressive stance toward damage. Clear stickers were put on existing dings, any ding much bigger than .25" without a sticker was being charged.

Hi,We just got back and we did not experience any problems with the shuttle.
We did sign up for Blue Chip so we went right to the Blue Chip counter and nothing was said about insurance at all....Easy in and out.

Join Blue Chip and call to get it added to your ressie. Just used Thrifty in September. Nice car, incredible rates, nice courtesy driver, super easy car drop off, no insurance hassle at all. (Fill up at the Hess station across from Disney Marketplace. The places near the airport were at least $.50 more per gallon on 9/24/05 than the Hess stations on Disney property - believe it or not!!!)

No worries. Have a great trip.

I've used Thirfty several times and have never had a problem...we did get a hard sell on the ins. once and the agent got really snotty when I asked him to skip it because I did not want the insurance. But after that I joined Blue Chip, and no more pushiness.

I'm looking forward to renting from Thrifty again. Last time I rented from them I reserved a Dodge Intrepid; they were out off full size cars so they gave me a Lincoln Town Car, $115 total for the week. Lots of friendly smiles.
Good Luck
