Thrifty and Dollar the same?

Are these basically the same company? I’ve been monitoring prices on car rental savers and these two seem to have the lowest on-airport rates. I have rented from Thrifty once, but not from Dollar. Anything I should know? I’m just trying to get the lowest priced non-electric vehicle that doesn’t require a shuttle.

Yes, same company and same rates almost. They just dropped "skip the counter - straight to the garage" deal, now have to wait in line inside the terminal. Had just 3 people in front of me and only 2 employees working the counter and it took almost 20 minutes for me to get to the counter. Then a million questions and then to the garage where someone shows you where to go to get your car. Got a very nice Toyota Sienna minivan. But my wife and sister meat me at the counter inside the terminal after getting their bags at the Southwest baggage area. So they had to wait 5 minutes while I got our paperwork finished. Looking to go elsewhere in the future, will spend a little more $$ to skip the counter to save a lot of time at the counter.

Yes, they are both earned by Hertz and generally operated as one. In some places it's even the same counter, not sure about at MCO. I've rented from both and had no issues. Their cars are a little older and may not be as well maintained as some other fleets. They are generally going to be the cheapest on airport option, but you will have to wait at the counter in what may be a very long line. How much your time is worth is a very personal decision. Budget is usually the other one in the same ballpark pricewise with the same issues.
