Check out what I scored at my local thrift store last week! I was so excited to find some really cool, older Mickey toys. I have only found a couple of them online (on eBay) but I can't find much info on value, year or anything like that. I was hoping someone on the DIS might give me more insight to my treasures. I didn't necessarily buy them for value, I just bought the items because I thought they were cute or unique. I just would like to know the story behind it and the rarity of the pieces I guess. TIA if anyone has info! :thumbsup2

I know this is an AM radio, and it originally had a microphone that plugged into it on the side that is missing. However, it does still work!

Pretty cool... I like the radio

Those are AWESOME things! And since you got them at the thrift store I bet it was all so cheap too. GREAT find!

If it's that important to you, they have giant books on Disney collectibles that help you find out the history and value of particular pieces. Also, if you go to the Disneyana value guide on ebay it helps you judge the value and rarity of particular Disney products. Once you learn a little more you can sort of guess their year and value.

You seemed okay with Minnie, and we know because of the timex thing that the Mickey is from the 50's. As far as the radio goes, based on its appearance just from the pic i see, it could be from the late 70's - 80's.

The helicopter as the original logo from the Mickey Mouse club which aired in 1955, and has similar makeup to a lot of toys made in that time. I would guess that's from the 50's too.

In truth, if you want exact histories and dates, you would need a professional who works with antiques and collectibles. But by researching general toys from each decade you can get an idea of roughly what year each toy is from.

Ok, so maybe I am totally clueless, but they have a Disneyana value guide through eBay? Or are you talking about buying a value guide from someone on eBay? I guess I never really considered buying my own value guide, but I always assumed that they would be outrageously expensive. But maybe I will have to think about it and start searching around for one, know that I have this new obsession with vintage Disney toys! :lmao::thumbsup2
