Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Afternoon all!
#3 - MINCED GARLIC - This is the best and so convenient. I use it all the time.
This. Definitely my number one and so much easier to use than messing around with proper garlic cloves.

2. Nutella - one of my favourite sweet treats, I love that chocolate hazelnut flavour.

3. Mayonnaise - technically you can also get it un squeezy bottles but I hate these as you can never it all out so buy the jars instead. Mayo is my favourite thing to put on burgers, sandwiches and especially with chips/fries.

Jars...

My son-in-law's grandmother gives everyone jarred foods for Christmas every year. She makes amazing jams (blueberry lemon, strawberry, apple pie, caramel apple, apricot, etc.) and produce (pickles, dilly beans, corn relish, etc). I'm so grateful she considers us part of the family.

CBD cream. I have a pinched nerve in my neck and I think the CBD cream really helps it feel better.

Spices. We have maybe 100 different spices: Whole, dried, ground, single spices, spice blends, etc. I love all my different spices and the choices it gives me when cooking.

Happy December 1st Everyone

#1 - MY FOOT SURGERY - I’m having foot surgery on Friday and I’m grateful the date has finally arrived. I made this surgery date back in July, so Ive been waiting a long time. I’ve been having issues with this food for over a year, so please keep me in your prayers for this surgery to work so I can get some relief.

#2 - CHRISTMAS MOVIES - I love them! We’ve already watched two - The Santa Clause and Christmas Vacation

#3 - CHRISTMAS CLOTHES - I love wearing my Christmas sweaters, sweatshirts, t shirts and sock for the next 25 days. The only clothes that aren’t Christmas themed are my pants. Our patients love my Christmas clothes - they make for good conversation pieces.

#4 - BONUS - CHRISTMAS MUSIC - The only music I listen to in the car is Christmas music. It always makes me feel so happy and festive.

Christmas Bonus - very grateful I get a Christmas bonus it covers my personal property taxes and my road fees so I’m very grateful because I tell myself every year to budget for them every year I forget to do it so my budget is my Christmas bonus🤣🤣🤣 they’ll be a little tiny bit left over that I’ll spend on me

Although it’s a massive pain to do once it’s done I do enjoy the Christmas decorations I think they look very festive and very nice and I do enjoy them it’s just a chore putting them up !!! It’s also a daily battle they keep the cats from running off with some of them🤣🤣🤣🤣 all that glitter those little kitty cats love that

For the rest of December I can’t say I enjoy much of it me in a county there’s a lot to do in December so I will say this the month goes by extremely fast because you’re so extremely busy doing all those year-end things that you starting in December and hopefully have finished by March🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

That it'll eventually end? I find the holidays unbearable stressful due to expectations and feeling as if I never measure up.

>I have cataract surgery scheduled for Dec. 4th and Dec. 11th. It's getting harder and harder to see anything clearly, so I'm glad the waiting is almost over.

>Nutcracker!! DD32 is dancing again, and will be in 4 pieces. I love watching her dance, and as the ballet mistress said, "She's still got it!"

>Semester break. Classes end December 12th. I'm on sick leave starting Dec. 4th due to my eye surgery, so I am pretty much 'done' for the semester right now, although there will be a whole bunch of stuff to do to prep for Spring. However, spring semester won't start until January 20th. I'm hoping to get most of the work completed as soon as I am off sick leave, so there'll be a bit of time to enjoy the holidays. DH and I leave for a split vacation (NOLA and Orlando) on Jan 7th- we'll visit my sister/BIL and then hop over to MCO for a few nights at SSR, no park tickets, just visiting friends, eating good food, and drinking good drinks... definitely something to look forward to!

The Power of the Vibe - I'm generally a very positive and upbeat person and the energy of the season just amplifies my positivity. I just often feel like there's positive vibes all around me as we approach Thanksgiving that gets supercharged on Dec 1st. I know this time of year can be so difficult for some, so in addition to walking around like a joyful ball of sunshine, I try to use my energy augmentation around this time to help boost those in my circles that often need it the most. Some of it seems counterintuitive to my norms, but being a positive force and helper doesn't look the same for everyone.

Lights - I have been a huge fan of holiday lights ever since I was little. It was always so crushing to me as a child that my maternal grandparents had such a stranglehold on my old parents when it came to decorating that we pretty much had nothing...which is really sad when you consider that my father is not Jewish. Lights and such just weren't the norm in the Jewish culture even though Hanukkah/Chanukah is the Festival of Lights. I vowed to be different when I was an adult and had the opportunity to decorate. Beyond that, I just love everyone's lights. I had a nasty walk this morning...set out in the dark, 40 degrees, and pouring rain...but the number of houses that still had their lights lit brought me so much happiness and determination to keep moving and seeing more lights. In any event, while I know some people's displays go up before 12/1 (me included), December 1st seems to be the magical date when everyone else who was waiting for it to be "the season" goes into full festive mode.

Clothes/Accessories - While I know most people go around dressing like they normally would, I love that it's the time of year where a lot of people aren't afraid to change out their bags for something festive or periodically don a more cheery seasonal top. Even sequins become much more acceptable outside of formal gatherings. I have a red Harvey's mini tote that I often wear in December. I have two different sequined tanks that I really like this time of year, but this year, I also got a brown and tan checkerboard sweater with gingerbread men and a holiday plaid tunic with big ruffle sleeves adorned with peals and rhinestones. In any event, I just love being able to wear my festiveness and get a big smile on my face when I see others doing the same.
