Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Evening all

I'm going to mix and match my top 3 today from both topics I think!

1. New York Rangers - on my first trip to NYC, I was introduced to ice hockey and the NHL in general, and I'll never forget watching the Rangers play in Madison Square Garden. Thanks to this i always try and catch an NHL game whenever I'm in the States.

2. Film locations - one thing i really loved about NYC is the amount of films that have been shot there and the sheer number of iconic filming locations you can visit around the city. I'm a huge film fan so getting to see some of these places up close in person was a dream come true. My biggest highlight being the Ghostbusters firehouse 😂

3. NYC style cookies - not sure if you call them this in the States? But these are my favourite type of cookies to eat and make, in any flavour. I made some gingerbread ones the other week that were divine and my mince pie ones went down a treat last Christmas! 🍪

Well..... Christopher Cross got stuck in my mind as I used Cloud ☁️ ☁️ cover this morning to weed 4 yards of elderly folks... when you get caught between the moon and New York City

Lillies.. cover the shoulders rural roads in July, unlike any thing on the West Coast... Oregon has no roadside wildflowers...in. ...New York country side a festival of blooming colors

Elimira New York...my family ancestry is rooted there as well as Mark Twain history trivia

Constution Island... after reading the Wikipedia page.. I am a pioneer in its preservation...my Colonel solicited my help in 1984 to help his eagle scout project... to build a simple path on land still off limits . The island historical home of Anna Warner... ✍️ Writer of the song Jesus loves me this I know

...so.yes....easy to fall in love ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Good Monday Morning

It’s the start of another week.

#1 - ICE CREAM CONES - I’m grateful for a local family owned ice cream shop that’s open Memorial Day - Labor Day. We love their waffle cones and I love our family ice cream cone evenings in the summer.

#2 - GIRL’S NIGHT OUT - I’m grateful for some friends that I go out to dinner with a few times a year.

#3 - FAMILY DAY - These are getting less and less as DD22 gets busier and busier, but when they do happen my heart is full and happy. Last one was when we went to downtown Chicago the beginning of August.

Spaghetti with brown butter one of my favorite meals

Ice cream cones nothing says summer to me more than an ice cream cone or a beach with an ice cream cone

When I think of state capitals I think a state fairs and I have fun memories of going to state fairs funny thing I’ve never been to one of my own state because the next stayed over there’s was closer so we went to that one

Memory of my beloved dad and I bringing donuts and a balloon to my late friend Sue two years ago on her actual 100th birthday. That was such an incredible blessing.

My friend Ruth God willing (who was a lomg time friend of Sue's from our church) will be celebrating her 100th birthday next February.

OK, I'm not big into cleaning and organizational products. Yes, I have some out of need, but I'm one of those people who can find things better from a pile than putting it in a nice and tidy place where it's supposed to be. So, I'm just jumping to Sunday's and Monday's topics since I'm already behind.

New York

Having "the city" in close proximity, influencing much of my childhood life/formative years - I grew up in NY metro NJ and so much of who I am is tied to growing up in this area. As much as I love the city, I love to joke (although, it's true) that some of the most iconic parts of NY actually rest inside NJ's state lines.

Syracuse - The city is home to my alma mater and is a place that I will always consider home. I spent four of the best (and snowiest) years of my life up there. Where the vale of Onondaga Meets the eastern sky Proudly stands our Alma Mater on her hilltop high. Flag we love! Orange! Float for aye- Old Syracuse, o'er thee, Loyal be thy sons and daughters To they memory.

The Catskills - This mountainous region provided summer refuge for countless Jewish families over the course of several decades. It also gifted us with many comedic greats who fine tuned their routines at the many resort clubs throughout the mountains. While I never got to experience it in its heyday, even I was lucky enough to have a few trips to one of these amazing all-inclusive resorts that defined the region for so long before it went under (like they pretty much have at this point). It's also a really pretty area in both summer and winter.

Today's Plethora of Options

Autumnal Equinox- I can now watch the Great Pumpkin and listen to my Halloween playlist without considering it premature. I can even decorate if I so choose!

Business Women- I think any of us working or retired from a job (and are women) can be thankful for these opportunities in the work world.

Ice Cream- It's not my favorite dessert but I am thankful that brands like Halo Top have helped keep me in line with my fitness and weight loss goals. I think I may also ask Santa for a Ninja CREAMI so I can make concoctions at home.

IT'S WITH GREAT PREDUJCE.... that I write ✍️ ✍️ ✍️ ✍️ ✍️... having only visited one capitol mall

SALEM OREGON is the Best
The building was FDR WPA built and interior exterior art and there is none other like it

3 lawns border the building, a creek full of the burnt columns that winds thru the complex... great place for Pooh sticks....a splash pool at the steps... gotta make government fun 😊 😊 😊...a gold statue of an ordinary man rest on the dome... protected by elementary school pennies

The best part...buy McDonald's yards away and have a picnic amidst the flowers...water features...and cherry trees...you know how it is with toddlers at Disneyland...what was your favorite part...the hotel pool .. so in Salem..eating hot McDonald's on Green lush grass....at least that's my favorite during Cherry blossom 🌸 🌸 🌸 🌸 🌸 🌸 season

Oh... I forgot the 🐿️ 🐿️ 🐿️ 🐿️ 🐿️

Hobbit day?? 😂

This is actually a tough one trying to narrow it down.

1. Ice cream - no matter the flavour, whether in a proper waffle cone, a cup cornet or even a wafer or cookie sandwich. Can't go wrong with ice cream in the summer and here in the UK, you know its summer when its warm enough to eat ice cream.

2. Walking - going car free isnt something I do a lot but I always try and get out and about walking when I can. Whether for exercise or if I can walk somewhere for errands, I will. I really enjoy it and am grateful for the exercise and fresh air. So much better than getting stuck in traffic.

3. Autumnal equinox - while i don't like the fact that summer is now over, I do love all the autumnal colours, the ability to wear jumpers without it being too cold and that i can have as much pumpkin spice flavoured items as I can get my hands on.
