Three Things...Gratitude Thread

It's...

Inspired by these small but mighty little critters,

Today's Topic (Wed, 7/16) - 3 things or actions you're grateful for that make a big a big impact for their size

Softball slappers - Everyone loves to gush over the power hitters, but the small speedy girls often have a more consistent positive impact on offense.

Compliments/Words of Praise - It's really a small action that has a huge impact.

Notes - A singular note is something small, but put a bunch of them together and you have music.

Batteries... Where would we be without them? My watch, my laptop, DH's phone, LittleGuys RC cars, the remote for the TV, flashlights, hearing aids... all run on batteries. Small but powerful, for sure!

Contact lenses. I don't wear them, but so many folks do. They are so small, but they give the gift of clear vision!

Our hamsters. We are currently without hammies right now, but we have had two in the past 5 years, Mia and Jingle. They are small and don't live very long, but they are funny to watch and just adorable. They each brought so many smiles to our faces during their time with us!

Good one! I wear them part if the time (sometimes wear glasses) and they are definitely a game-changer!

I second this one as well!

And adding:

People holding the door when your arms are full!

Contact Lenses - life changing !!! I absolutely love my contact lenses I hate wearing glasses I have to wear now because I have to wear readers but I absolutely love my Contact Lens when I turned 18 that was the first thing I had lined up to do besides registering to vote was get me contact lenses my father would not get those for me so I went and got them myself and I have worn them ever since and I absolutely love my contact lenses

Nice compliments from somebody especially from people you report to at work where I work you don’t get them very often so when you do get them it really means a lot I’ve explained to my boss time and again that it’s nice to let people know when they done a really nice job
When some of his done a special favor for me that they didn’t have to do I will call her boss to let them know that that person did me a huge favor people will often call or complain but they don’t call a compliment and call to compliment

Greetings often times people don’t give greetings I’m not saying everybody I’m just saying a lot of times people just don’t do it I try to make an effort to always say good morning or good afternoon or good evening I try to give a greeting and in the same respect I often tried to tell them to have a good day or to wish them well I truly mean it I try to have a positive attitude I don’t always succeed but I often try it’s something I’ve been working on and I continue to work on

I dont wear contact lenses anymore (had my eyes lasered) but I remember how they changed my life when I was younger so totally get this!

1. Greetings/pleasantries - agree with WDWEPCOT on this. Its so nice when people just say hello, goodbye or any sort of social pleasantries. I work in a partially open office which my team and another department share and I get so annoyed when people from the other department cant even say good morning. Same when I'm out walking, it may be a northern England thing but its nice to go out for a walk first thing and say hello to people.

2. Work compliments - again seconding WDWEPCOT on this. People are very quick to complain about someone or something but never as quick to praise or compliment someone's work when it can so easily make their day and show appreciation. My job involves telling a lot of people off and being the bad guy, so its definitely nice when people appreciate that 😂

3. Communication - people being responsive and communicating with you is always appreciated, especially when its something as small as asking how your day was or remembering about an important event.

Awwww.......Guinea Pig Appreciation Day ❤️:goodvibes
Makes me miss our sweet little girl Zoe.

#1 - Teeth - So small, but you can't chew without them. Even one missing makes a huge difference

#2 - Paperclips - It's wonderful how something so small can help keep papers organized.

#3 - A Wave - It's amazing how a simple wave from someone across the room can make your day.

Smiles: one of the the things I missed the most during the pandemic when we were masked was being able to smile at people.

Small notebooks, especially the one next to my bed where I jot down things I want to remember.

The small words of courtesy: please, thank you, etc.

Memories of my beloved late grandfather and how much he loved shopping at Pic N Save.

Dad and I got our Kindle one Saturday (years ago) during a very special one day sale. We got it for under $50.

One of the things I miss most about Kmart are their weekly surprise points. I would be given the equivalent of $5 off $5 in points in a particular category such as toys. I would get a toy for just over $5 so it would basically be free and have a Christmas extra toy drive donation. That was such fun and meant a lot to me to be able to do. I also still have throw blanket that thanks to surprise points and a sale one time, only cost me 67 cents. I am not a big shopping fan. When needed or to be able, I pray, to make a difference, bargains and coupons help make purchases more possible especially today when truly every penny counts for my Dad and I.

I always love a bargain although typically now I'm struggling to think of any.

1. Violet Blonde perfume dupe - Violet Blonde is a Tom Ford perfume that got discontinued years ago and was one of my faves. Recently I found one of those perfume dupe websites that does a version of this, and while it doesnt quite last as long as the original, it was £15 for 100ml versus £££s that the original used to go for, and also brings back a lost fragrance i loved, so an absolute steal!

2. Vinted purchases - I have bought far too many things off Vinted, both brand new and secondhand, and they've all been such a bargain, like brand new dresses with tags off for a fraction of the original price.

3. Aldi & Discount/Bargain Shops - I do virtually all of my weekly shopping in Aldi and get other bits from certain discount/bargain shops (Home Bargains, B&M, Heron), and can usually grab good bargains on various things all the time, which really make a difference. Heron is especially great for bargains on branded food & drinks, although usually encourages me to buy things i dont need 😂

I got this huge armoire for $100 the value of this was well over $1000 I refinished it and it looks absolutely amazing❤️❤️❤️ when I say huge I do mean huge it is about 8 feet tall I’m still madly in love with it

I went to a hoarder estate sale many years ago I can’t even begin to tell you all the things I got the sale was held over two weekends I went several times the amount of things I got I couldn’t even begin to list the prices were so cheap the items were unimaginable you couldn’t even walk through the house there were so many things I have so much stuff in my house from that sale

I think one of the best sales I ever hit was a couple years ago with Victoria’s Secret it was buy three get three free plus a coupon plus free shipping plus free items it was literally like they were given me stuff for free and paying me to shop there I got so much stuff and I got so many items free and I hardly paid anything for it I think it was one of the best shopping sprees I ever did I’m still using the stuff I bought and I still got a bunch of it left to go ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I take a lot of vitamins, some pretty expensive, so I am always grateful when my supermarket has a buy one get one free sale

I wouldn’t exactly call these 2 bargains, but I do appreciate how they help me afford expensive things. My Rewards dollars on my Disney Visa have allowed us to stay in DVC villas on our last few trips. And my Hanna Anderson rewards, combined with their sales, help me to be able to afford to buy my DGD some very nice clothes.

1. The 25 dollar Nike sneakers I could buy at JCPENNEY when my kids were toddlers and money was so tight. They never wore out and my kids were always on the move.

2. In 2023 I was able to get 35% off a stay at WL. DH and celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary on that trip. It was the very same place we started our marriage. ❤️ It was a great trip!

3. I am grateful for every sale that I have encountered that has allowed me to stretch my dollar and provide for my family.

God has blessed me abundantly in so many ways!
