Three Things...Gratitude Thread

These: 1708477406368.png fruit snacks (I get them at Aldi's) because I can keep them in my purse for "emergencies" without feeling too guilty.

The strawberry popsicles I craved all the time when I was pregnant with DS.

The McDonald's Cherry Pies of my childhood!

Those fruit snacks look good. Wildberry. 😋

And, who else, has enjoyed the pineapple spears at Aloha Isle? So refreshing in the heat.

@TiggerTrigger @WDWEPCOT Sign me up to help with the next batch of mincemeat! I am also a big fan of fruitcake- go figure!

Frozen bananas at Animal Kingdom. This is my favorite Disney treat, even higher on the list than Dole whip (although also wonderful, also made from fruit)!

My sister makes fruited bread pudding that is to die for! It's sort of like cobbler or shortcake only not as sweet. It's divine made with raspberries, but my favorite is strawberry rhubarb!

Mango martini, from our local Thai restaurant. Eddie, the owner, is a master behind a bar, and the quality of his cocktails rivals any I've had in NYC or NOLA. The mango martini is delicious, and served with a big wedge of mango garnishing the glass.

Good Morning!

#1 - BeautIful Sunrises - I love a beautiful sunrise. When I notice we‘re having one, I will always stop what I’m doing, go to the living room window, and soak in that beautiful sunrise for a few minutes. The sunrise is over the forest next to our house and truly is beautiful. I love how it starts my day.

#2 - Watching my DD20 & her teammates get ready for their games - We always leave home earlier than needed so we can sit and watch the team warmup. I love seeing DD laugh and make memories with her teammates.

#3 - Moments at WDW - many times my DD20 and I will stop to soak in a moment. I especially love watching her soak in a moment. She’s now seeing things through adult eyes and a different perspective which has made for fun discussions afterwards.

Special times with pets one in particular that comes to mind I had a dog that was getting old and I gave him one more bath I kind of knew at the time it was probably the last bath I was ever going to give him and it was a really special bath and I just took my time and really treasured it ❤️😢 it was the last bath I gave him but it’s a very treasured memory of cuddling with my dog

Play with my kids - we used to play Chase all the time and it’s so funny because I’d be like you need to knock this off before somebody gets hurt with somebody that would get hurt would always be me 🤣🤣🤣 it never stopped us though!! Chasing them with the hose Every night when I watered the flowers Or when I wash the car

Memories of DISNEY I was harassed to no end about all my trip to Disney I sacrifice a lot so I could go to Disney I was making memories with my kids I treasure all those memories - chasing characters special parties cruises and excursions all the fun things we did the buses we missed the boats we got on the touring the hotels seeing if we could get into all four parks and under an hour we did! We were having fun!! You can’t put a price on that well you can Disney does 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Kids grow up way too fast - the years fly by and before you know it they are adults !!

1. The instrumental sections - When I sang with the symphony, there were a number of pieces with movements or sections where only the orchestra would play. In these longer sections, the choir would sit in our riser seats directly above the orchestra and wait for our next entrance. It was always so amazing to be part of the performance, yet afforded these opportunities where I could be allowed to stop for a moment and also be an observer in a position no audience member could ever experience. It literally felt like we were immersed in a blanket of music, not to mention the things we were seeing close up...like the maestro's expressions, the sheer physicality of the timpani, and the faces of the patrons sitting front/center orchestra. These are all the things you don't always notice when you're having to sing, follow your music, and follow the maestro's arms/hands.

2. Disney when they were young - We all know those people who don't understand why anyone would go to Disney before their kids could really remember it and experience all there is to offer, but there were so many little moments when the girls were preschool ages where instead of being in the moment with an attraction or other Disney designed experience, my stop and smell the roses moments were just watching them. I think one of my favorites was a moment in Spaceship Earth. It was DD17's 5th birthday and we were making that descent towards the end where it looks like you're in space looking out on the Earth. I was just watching her and she grabs my arm and says "Mommy!!! Thank you so much for taking me to space!" Nobody had the heart to tell her that it's just a ride (that she'd been on before).

3. Waiting on nature - Whether we've picked a scenic area to wait on sunset or a prime location and time of day for wildlife spotting, there's a lot of stop and smell the roses moments while you wait. Sure, it's spectacular if you see those animals you were hoping to see or if the conditions make for a spectacularly vibrant sunset, but sitting down and waiting sort of forces you to observe the other neat or special things around you.

Exactly what I’m saying about taking your kids to DISNEY! I started taking my kids before they were three years old and everybody said I was crazy but it’s not and I went very pregnant with my second child in the summer-! That might’ve been crazy! I
have a lot of memories of my kids when they were little and how mesmerized they were with the characters and the rides how scared my daughter was to go on jaws because she thought that shark was going to eat her And I had to protect her from the shark she thought it was real ! How scared they were to go on the haunted mansion ride and it became one of their most favorite rides and how the pirates were going to get them and again the Pirates became their favorite ride
The times when you were on the people mover ride because one of the kids was too small to go on the big rides so you rode that for a while and just watched everybody in the park and quiet time with a young child making memories
I have a lot of fond memories from Disney it’s not just riding the rides it’s quiet times waiting for fireworks or just sitting and watching people sitting by the pool it’s trips to celebrate things it’s Christmas at the parks spring break at the parks Thanksgiving was a great time at the parks I’ve enjoyed several holidays at the parks treasured memories
I’ve endured tornadoes hurricanes all kinds of things and again these are memories they’re not bad because we were safe because we were with DISNEY and DISNEY takes care of you
Then you bring DISNEY home and you make it part of your every day life so you can keep sharing those memories with you
That’s what makes it so special !!

Stop and smell the roses moments:
This is basically who I am as a person, so I would have way too many to list just 3! So, 3 categories, I guess.
1. WDW: always stopping to take photos of the details. My DD who has gone to WDW since she was 3 and is now in her late 30’s, also approaches WDW the same way. My favorite Savor the Moment on our last trip was my DGD at the Imagination jumping fountains. We were there so long watching her jump and laugh and playing with these 2 boys. They all took off their shirts and were soaked and loving it! (So glad I took video)
2. Nature: Again, stopping to take photos and sometimes literally stopping to smell a rose.
3. Museums: When I was growing up we went to a lot of museums. i especially hated the way my mom would spend so long looking at a single painting! And as an adult, guess who does the exact same thing? :)

When we are on vacation, that few minutes of quiet in the morning where my husband and I have coffee before everyone else wakes up

The quiet time at night when everyone else in the house is asleep and I get to quietly read for a bit before I go to sleep myself

As much as I don't love winter, sitting in my house and watching the snowfall during a blizzard(just don't ask me to go out into it lol)

@WDWEPCOT I am right there with you on the Haunted Mansion. I have a very blurry picture of my girls fleeing from the Haunted Mansion at the end of the ride. I think they were 2 and 4 in the pic. They really thought a ghost would follow them home, so they were trying to outrun it. 🤣 Sounds a bit cruel, but now they love the attraction and love the memories.

(Wed, 2/21) - 3 "stop & smell the roses" moments you're grateful for

1. Cruises - there are so many times where it just hits me how fortunate we are to be in this moment and I'm very grateful for them!

2. My evenings before bed - DH and I usually go to bed at the same time, but he gets up and goes to bed lol. I usually put any randomly left out dishes in the dishwasher, turn off lights, etc. Then I usually get a last little cup of water and just pause to be thankful for where we are in life and how blessed we are. Good shelter and good people to enjoy it with.

3. When we used to drive to visit our kids at college. The drives were filled with anticipation of the weekend ahead, but also again being grateful for the experience our kids were having at college and our appreciation of what great people they were!

Stop and smell the roses...

The drive to/from from the city centre/downtown takes me along some beautiful country roads. Even after several years, I still take it in, more often than not.

Standing at the train station end of Main Street and looking towards the castle. It bookends a trip in a lovely - and emotional! - way. ...Actually, the whole of Main Street! The red pavement, the Emporium, the candy store, the Plaza, Casey's, the cinema, the trolley...

Lying on grass, looking up through the trees, the branches swaying in the breeze.

ETA: I've really enjoyed reading all of yours.
