Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Fancy is in the eye of the beholder…that’s my take on this question

I think flowers are fancy. They are beautiful.
Birds
Certain tails on goldfish are called fancy, and I will agree.

Now, as far as I go, I like one “fancy“ thing. I go to Palo and get the Dover sole. Our server has to debone it at the table. That’s probably the fanciest thing I really like! Our last server deboning the fish.

I'm not what anyone would call fancy either, but my DH occasionally has to wear bow ties for Lodge, so it made me think of that, and I'm grateful for the friends we've made there.

I'm grateful for Fancy Feast cat food, because that was the favorite brand of a beautiful cat we had.

And I do like fancy dishes for holidays.

I forgot about fancy dishes for holidays. About 5 or 6 years ago on one of my local facebook trader pages, someone listed the Lenox Christmas dishes that are octagonal with the pretty tree in the middle. It was a great price for 8 place settings and a bunch of service pieces. I got them and do love using them at Christmas. I would like to get a few more place settings. Now, I just use plain white dishes when I need more than 8, but I'd love to find a deal on a few more.

Not at all fancy here either! Simple :)

Bow ties will always bring me a smile to think of a minister friend who used to wear a bow tie every Sunday. When he left our church, we all wore a bow tie in his honor that Sunday! :)

I also enjoy Christmas light displays and ornaments, of course, too.

Every day blessings are the greatest of joys and truly can be fancy as some of you have already wisely said! I also love how alike we are! :)

Fancy things...

Tutus! I worked for about 10 years as costume mistress for DD's ballet company. I loved making beautiful, fancy tutus, and I loved watching DD and her friends dance in them!

I love to go to "fancy dress-up" parties. Weddings, out to nice restaurants, dinner/dance receptions, cocktail parties, etc.

Holiday dining tables, decorated beautifully, full sets of china, flatware, multiple crystal glasses, tablecloth, cloth napkins, fancy centerpieces, etc. I rarely do this anymore, but I sure did love a fancy holiday table setting!

Good Tuesday Morning!

#1 - I’m very grateful for my New Balance running shoes - an athletic shoe store fitted me in them last year and I love them. I never thought to buy New Balance before, so loving these was a surprise. I’ve put lots and lots of miles on them (I’m a walker not a runner) so it’s time to replace them. I can’t imagine doing all the walking we did at WDW (46 miles) without them.

#2 - I’m grateful for my little Mickey Mouse earrings - my DH bought them for me several years ago and I wear them in the second piercing in my ears every day.

#3 - I’m grateful for all the fun Harry Potter and Mickey Mouse socks my DH has bought me - he always buys me things that he knows I wouldn’t buy for myself.

I am most grateful for my two arms, as I really hurt my left shoulder and my arm/shoulder needs to do double duty! Throw in other parts of my body that come in pairs. Very thankful!🙏

My pair of orchids. It seems one of them is always blooming. Right now, the yellow one is fading, and the purple one is sending up a brand new flower stem!

Next will be our two sons. Different, and precious in their own ways.

Earring - nothing worse than losing one and trying to find it ! Thank God they sell the backs in gross !!!

Socks 🧦- you can get such cute ones these days !!!

BOGOF - love those deals !!! Buy one get one free !! Hard to find those deals anymore

Grateful I have two arms / two legs / two feet / two hands / two ears / two eyes / two kidneys / two lungs / so many people are not blessed with this and I’m very grateful I have mine even if they hurt or don’t work right as others are not so lucky so I’m grateful and I try and remember this every time I start hurting -

Again I would like to mention that I really enjoy this thread I think it helps keep me grounded and grateful I’m so happy that you started this and it has continued and I’ve gotten to know everyone here a little bit better and I’m very grateful for all of you even the ones that like snow❄️ I’ll overlook that🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️

I immediately smiled and gave extra thanks to God for my Grandma Dolores and Grandpa Sam! What precious blessings they were and always will be to me! The added Grace of having two sets of healthy hands, legs and feet with all 10 fingers and toes in proper order. Same with eyes and ears and eyebrows/lips. All body parts!

Pairs/Twos

My Crocs... I was very late to the world of Crocs, but they are so handy (and comfortable) by the back door for when I need to run out to the garage or water the garden. They're also a cheerful color!

I have a particular pair of earrings... I got them in San Francisco years ago - they're simple and light, a bit unique and remind me of a standout summer.

Musical Duos... Simon & Garfunkel; The Shires; Ward Thomas; The Carpenters; Tears for Fears; Wham!; The Pet Shop Boys; Savage Garden etc. etc. (Who did I miss? 😊)

Here are two pictures of Champ, dear Tink, thanks for asking. May he bring all of you kind friends an extra Saturday smile. He was a wire hair fox terrier.

As a stuffed animal p.s. In the first picture, you can see Minty my childhood stuffed bunny who I still have by a green flashlight. Benjy, a stuffed dog also from childhood who I still have is near the lamp above the stuffed lamb with the red ribbon. Grandma Dolores brought me home Benjy from a trip she had taken to visit family and friends in Chicago.

Other animals have been passed on. God gave me the blessing a number of years ago now of my gifting the two Gund stuffed dogs, one by Benjy and the other on the next shelf to a lovely church family of then two, today three young daughters. Adeline the oldest must now be in her teens! Wow kiddos sure grow up! Grandma also had given me Honey (Smaller) and Yummy (Bigger) She loved them both. It meant so much to me later in her life to be able to give her a few stuffed animals including one 🧸that brought her a whole lot of comfort as her dementia horribly progressed. Reminder that small things can absolutely make a huge and kind difference.

I love the smile in the second photo, @flyingdumbo127 ! Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Things in pairs:

1. I love fun socks - my mom always gives socks to everyone for Christmas. I used to be more for practical reasons, but now, it mainly for fun and she always finds the nicest socks!

2. My slippers. I was never a slipper wearer, but my sister got me a pair one year for Christmas and I love wearing them now!

3. The pair of Christmas trees that we have on each side of our front door at Christmastime. Last year was the first year we put them out and I really enjoyed them!
