Three Things...Gratitude Thread

How awful, Eksmama! Why wouldn't the camp call you? Their responsibility to have done so. I would have had this happrned at a church camp I worked at before Covid. I'm glad to hear your daughter at least liked the other kids. Not sure I'd send her back though! Extra prayers to all of you and that you have by now had some positive health news:grouphug:

Bobbiwoz, trusted healthcare providers are such blessings indeed! I'm very thankful to God for yours and always :dogdance:in your life, my friend, too.

Sweet Dreams to all :)

Sneaking in to catch up while you're all still asleep!!! :tiptoe:

Today's Topic (Sat, 6/17) - 3 things you're grateful to come home to
After living in the suburbs for a long time, it's so green and spacious here.. Trees everywhere! ...(Although, I did like being able to walk to so many amenities in the suburban location. ...Thinking about it, my teenage home was kinda rural and suburbs, maybe that's why I like the best of both worlds! :rotfl:

On the same theme, outside space. I like coming out of the front door and not immediately being in everyone else's pockets. I can take out the recycling and rubbish/trash in my PJs if I want to!

Family.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads here! Because that can be a very easy subject or a very hard one for a lot of people, we'll go with a couple different options today:

Today's Topics (Sun, 6/18) -

3 things you're grateful for about your dad

.
.....or

any 3 dads you're grateful for - TV dads, friend's dads, grandpas...

I love that I can have both deep and very lighthearted (silly!!) conversations with my dad.

One of you mentioned acts of services and my dad is so good at that, too. He's very generous and considerate.

I could list lots more, but I'll go with the fact that it was his idea to go WDW that first time when I was a kid. It was a big deal visiting the US from the UK back then and Disney World was unknown to us, really, and a complete surprise!

Happy Father’s Day - enjoy your day !

Pass today I’ve got nothing on this one but years of counseling I’m good 👍
:hug::hug::hug:
Lots of holidays today, from the official (Juneteenth) to the wacky (Garfield the Cat Day). Some areas/industries have the day off and some don't, so we'll stick with a...

Miscellaneous Monday for Today's Topic (6/19) - any 3 things you're grateful for
Cool breeze on my face.

My slow cooker/crockpot. It's so nice getting to dinnertime and most of the work's already done.

Netflix!

3 Miscellaneous Things:
>Today is finally here. I am having knee replacement surgery on Wednesday, but today is the day I start taking pre-surg meds, washing with antibacterial soap, etc. I have been waiting and waiting and WAITING for this surgery (originally scheduled for 5/16 but surgeon was sick so it was postponed, then scheduled for 5/31 but I had a cold so it was postponed again) so I am glad we are finally on the path to getting it done!

>DH has a new job offer! At his age we weren't sure it they'd come through (he's almost 63) but they did. The top of the salary range is a bit of a pay cut, so when he meets with the department chair he's gonna try and negotiate for more. He's good at this, so I am optimistic. He'll accept the position if they offer him the top range, as his current job is stressful and demands a lot of his "free time" so he's always busy grading at night and on the weekends, in addition to being on campus and teaching full time. Fingers crossed that he is offered more money, but I am so grateful he has this new job offer!

>It's sunny today! We have been having grey skies and drizzle all spring, at least 5 days a week, so I am grateful that the sun is out today!
Thinking of you on Wednesday. Here's to a smooth experience for you. Fingers crossed for your husband's new job negotiations, too.

And thinking of you, eksmama ...and your daughter, too. I wonder why they wouldn't call you. Did she/will she go back?

Good Tuesday Morning!

#1 - I’m grateful for all my earrings - I love wearing jewelry - cheap or expensive - I don’t care.

#2 - I’m grateful for my morning slippers - so warm and comfy

#3 - I’m grateful for my fun socks - DH always buys me fun socks, because he knows I won’t buy them for myself. The newest ones are Harry Potter ones.

DD did not have fun. She was overwhelmed by the heat and they wouldn't call me when she asked. She said the kids were nice. Ugh! Hope your kids had a better time 😊

Oh no! I hope today is better for her. The bright side is that the kids were nice! But the counselor not calling you is a tough one, especially with the heat. A quick chat with you could have put her mind at ease so she could enjoy the rest of the day. Hmph :(

Mine had fun. Nice kids overall. DD9 said she made a friend who is “as crazy as her!” And I had to clarify what she meant by crazy, like crazy misbehaving, or kooky/silly? Luckily silly and kooky were better descriptions. Haha!!

DS11 was in tech camp and he said one kid was disrespectful to the counselor, but it was dealt with. Both are indoors this week, so not having to deal with the weather is a plus. It’s swinging wildly between heat and storms.

Sets of 2:

- Shoes! I love shoes! My longstanding favorite are the Birkenstock Arizona sandals. I’ve continuously owned a pair for the last 30 years. Now they come in so many colors. I’m having a hard time not buying another. ;)

- Earrings! DD9 and I recently got our ears pierced together. I almost chickened out, and I do not like needles and things that poke my skin. She was so brave, and inspired me to go through with it. We’ve had fun buying new pairs, and am looking forward to earring shopping next time we are at Disney!

- Our cats. They are sisters and we adopted them as a pair. They provide endless entertainment and snuggles and are quick to purr and love on you. We adopted them when they were 8 years old after their owner passed away. So, we feel grateful they landed in a home that very much wanted them!

Sets of 2:

>My Christmas socks. I wear holiday socks every day from Thanksgiving to New Year's. I love them, especially my Nutcracker socks. DD was a dancer until Covid hit and every year did 8-10 shows of Nut with a traveling ballet company. I'd wear my Nut socks to every show I could get to.

>My Sparkle Crocs. I love them. Due to my knee and foot issues, crocs are the only shoes I can wear, and we all know that they aren't particularly pretty. However, I have a silver sparkle pair and a gold sparkle pair that has fuzzy lining, so I have sparkle crocs for all seasons- and that makes me smile! Actually, one of the reasons I'm having knee replacement surgery tomorrow is as a lead-in for having my instep on that leg rebuilt. Hopefully once ALL the surgery is over and I'm healed, my leg/foot will be aligned enough for me to be able to wear REAL shoes! (but I'll still love my crocs!)

>Because this is timely for my life... I am glad my surgeons come in twos. Yup, my knee is being done by a surgical team, Dr. Carmen and Dr. Kathy. It means that every time I've been to the ortho office, I've seen the doc who knows my case. No techs, no nursing assistants- not that I am opposed to those well-educated folks, but when it comes to major reconstructive surgery that will take 2 or 3 surgeries, I am glad that there are two of them- and both will be in the OR with me tomorrow. (OK, maybe I'm starting to get nervous...)

Sets of 2:

1. Snicker and Doodle the gerbils
2. Pickle and Moo the kitties
3. DD and me

@Tink-osophy I woke her up to go and she told me it really was not her thing. She didn't like the heat, being outside all day, the portapotty, or how sick she felt. Another girl was throwing up from the heat and they didn't call her mom either!! She said she only wants an indoor art or theater camp in the future. The animals weren't enough to win her over. Oh, and she said they didn't wash their hands between animals and lunch!

Well, it is important to find out what you don't like, just as what you do like. Good for her for asserting herself.

It doesn't sound like the camp is the best run. There are other ways to be around animals.

Hope she has lots of fun this summer one way or another.

Twos Tuesday

Earrings. (Like Slo said.) Such an easy fashion choice to make each day and they always fit!!!!

Spielberg and Williams. (Steven & John!)

Orange juice blended with frozen banana. Not a set, just a yummy combination of 2!

Special mentions to Frasier & Niles Crane, Cagney & Lacey and, of course, Mickey & Minnie.

Things that come in pairs or sets of 2:

1. Definitely shoes - I never had too many, just the essentials that I wore a lot, but now that the 2 oldest are on their, I'm splurging a little more on myself sometimes. They still have to be on a good deal, but I have started accumulating more pairs!

2. I'll agree with the socks too - that's always been part of my mom's gifts to people. She loves giving socks - they can just be a fun thing to give and to use.

3. My 2 daughters - I'm so glad they have each other!
