Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Big :grouphug:Eksmama and extra praise to God! I am so happy for you, my friend!

Summer! :cheer2:

Longer and brighter days filled with an extra sense of new beginning and fresh hope.
Dad enjoys Dodgers baseball. I, of course, hope they do well, too.
God willing at the end of July being able to wish my friend Sue a Happy 100th birthday on her actual special day!

Playing catch up today:

Beautiful/Relaxing:
1. A nicely scented candle. I use them more in the winter, but a bit in the summer.
2. My hanging baskets—they are filling in now and look really pretty.
3. A good book (preferably reading by the ocean).

Coming Home To
1. A clean house—I really like coming home to a clean house.
2. Dinner almost ready to go—either because we are having leftovers, dinner is in the crockpot or we are ordering in.
3. Open windows—I like the smell in the house when the windows are open.

Dad
1. He was a great model of a kind/decent man. My sisters and I all married good men and I think it was because we knew what that looked like from him.
2. Grateful that he is still alive and doing well for almost 82.
3. Grateful he lives close.

Miscellaneous Monday
1. A nice celebration of Father’s Day with extended family.
2. A busy weekend is over. It was fun, but hectic.
3. A free evening to get caught up from the weekend.

Pairs:
1. Absolutely contact lenses—one of the best inventions ever!
2. Washer & dryer—makes life so much easier
3. Good shoes that keep my feet from hurtinh

Summer:
1. Usually a family vacation
2. Schedule slows down a bit
3. Middle Dd is home from college

Summer Summer Summer

Wimbledon. (And Glastonbury) . Now if only I could watch them while floating on a pool like Slo!

The ease of going outside - sliding bare feet into flip flops/sandals etc and not having to pile on extra layers.

Air-conditioning in homes isn't a thing here 🥵 so it can be much harder to deal with the heat than with the cold in winter ...all of which is to say I'm very grateful for the air con in my car! 😅

Oncologist cleared me and my CT shows the other issue is benign! One more hurdle to go and then hopefully I'm done!

***grateful!!!***
Brilliant news! You're in lots of our thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:
3. There is a soccer tournament I play in every summer-I really look forward to it. The proceeds are donated to a local center that helps victims of domestic violence
That sounds fantastic! Good luck this tournament. 🏆

Inspired by @flyingdumbo127 yesterday wishing wishing DIS posters JOY...

Today's Topic (Thur, 6/22) - spell a positive word with the first letters of things you're grateful for

As an example for JOY, I'm grateful for:

Jeopardy - which DH and I watch together almost every evening
Owls - one of my favorite animals
Yoga - which I enjoy and need to start doing again

Note: You don't have to limit this one to 3 things, as the number depends on the word you choose.

Good Morning

This is a fun idea for today ::yes::

I’m grateful for my life - I love my life and all our blessings.

L - love - I love giving it and receiving it
I - ice cream - such a good treat sometimes
F - flowers - so pretty this time of year
E - evenings - when DH and I watch TV together

F - Fridays one of my most favorite days of the week

R - Reassuring - Both giving & Receiving to others

I - Income - grateful I am employed

E - Electricity ❤️ & Education ❤️

N - Novels - I so love to read nightly

D - Doctors - Blessed & Grateful for my GP he’s so sweet

S - Seasons - grateful for 3 of the 4 - push thru the 4th

T Trenton NJ where I went to college, taught school, both boys were born and we made many friends.

O Our Lady Star of the Sea where both boys were baptized and I taught CCD and I met a wonderful counselor who helped me through difficult times.

M Math. I have been a math teacher in all levels of education and I have seen growth in many students and it’s wonderful to see the smiles when they really understand because it clicked for them!

Sorry I missed the first day of summer lists, but here we go:

1. WARM weather. No snow, no frost, no need for multiple layers of clothes just to go to the mailbox or grocery store.
2. TIME OFF with DH. We both work in academia but at two different locations so our breaks don't always align. However, once summer sessions end (by July 1) we are both off at the same time. Yes, there is ALWAYS something to do, prep, etc, but we have more free time/no grading so we can spend more time doing things together.
3. Fresh veggies. Tomatoes won't be in until August, but strawberries are just about ready!

Positive word: Humor. I'd be lost without a sense of humor!

H- Home. Nothing felt as good as coming home from the hospital last night, so I could sleep in my own bed (although Hospital would also work, and I'm very grateful for the compassionate, knowledgeable people who took good care of me yesterday!)

U- Underwear... probably TMI, 'nuff said~

Mint- most specifically, mint ice cream (prefereably pepperMINT) and mint jelly (to serve with lamb!)

Orthopedists- I have a new knee!

R- Roasts... lamb, beef, duck, chicken, turkey, done in the oven or on the grill. (I think I'm getting hungry!)
