Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Three M things I'm grateful for today:

1 Every day beyond all else, how grateful I am for Jesus, Messiah!

2 Positive memories along with His blessing of daily moments with my dad.

Okay. Playing catch-up again because I had something almost every night this week. And fair warning, I got a bit carried away with one specific answer... Ha!

(Monday 1/9) - Music You're Grateful For
1. Worship music/hymns
2. Every summer, my church does a children's musical. I'm one of two assistant directors under the main director (though I always say that title gives me more credit than is due.) The kids get their music, audition, and get their parts/solos in advanced, work on it on their own, then we put it all together in a one week camp/workshop type format. That week is absolutely CRAZY, but I love it. Seeing it go from "Okay, let's make sure everyone knows the songs..." to a full production in a week is pretty amazing.
3. Specifically Andrew Peterson and Laura Story music.
I could really go on and on about music, but I think maybe you might have figured that out about me by now??

(Tuesday 1/10) - 3 things you're grateful for beginning with the letter C
1. Chocolate. Specifically dove dark chocolate.
2. Church/Christ
3. Cadence, my niece!
(Also, I now have the "C is for Cookies" song in my head.)

(Wednesday 1/11) - Any three things
(I'm going to come back to this to see what else I list for the given topics. !)
1. Modern medicine. It's just amazing what we can do now that we couldn't do years ago
2. Puppies. I don't have one of my own, but still... puppies.
3. These boards

(Thursday 1/12) - 3 things you're grateful you were able to do, or learned how to do
(Okay. Warning. VERY LONG explanation for number 1. Ha!)
1. My church participates in a school-year Bible memorization program called Awana. It's for toddlers to high school, with different "clubs" or levels within the larger program. The main focus (I'm not sure that's the right word?) is the 3rd to 12th grades. High school seniors who complete all books from 3rd to 12th grade earn their "Citation Award." 3rd to 6th is really just the memory and questions. 7th and 8th they add Bible reading. They read the entire New Testament (NT), give a brief summary of the book, have a memory verse for that book, and give the author, date, and theme of the book. High school does the OT, and then adds in a service/leadership aspect, where they help in the younger clubs or do some other long term act of Christian service, and then also a training aspect. Okay. Now that that's explained, on to the main part... So I did Awana as a child/teen from preschool to 4th grade, and then again 11th and 12th. But I only finished 2 1/2 of the 3rd to 12th grade books. As a leader in the program, during awards night, I always sat there thinking, "I wish I had done that," as I watched the Seniors get their Citation awards. A few years ago,k I decided to do something about it. So from 2018 to 2021, I did 7 1/2 books (I found the other 1/2 of the one I'd done in high school) and earned my Citation as an adult in May 2021. To make it extra special, I got my Citation award on my birthday, and I finished with a girl in the Senior class that year who specifically wanted me to finish with her when she heard I was earning it as an adult. So... I'm grateful I was able to earn my Awana Citation Award! I'm also greatful that I get to be a a one-on-one leader for an amazing 7th grader with some special needs. And I also think it's awesome that this was a Thursday question, because Awana is on Thursday nights. :) (Okay. Was that long enough for you? Ha! Sorry. I got carried away)
2. I recently learned how to do Rubik's cube! I will NEVER be a "speed cuber" (Still over 5 minutes for a "full" solve where I didn't get lucky and get to skip steps) but it's still so satisfying when I solve one!
3. I've really enjoyed helping lead worship for the traditional service at my church.

(Friday 1/13) - 3 things you're grateful for beginning with the letter K
1. Kitchens. I mean... where would we make food if not for kitchens? Ha!
2. Kindness
3. Kids (Specifically my church kids. and even more specifically, Kaeden, the kid I work with one-on-one in Awana (see Thursday's number 1 answer.)

(Saturday 1/14) 3 Products/Tools/Routines that you're grateful for because they help you stay organized or make your life easier
1. GPS. Oh my goodness. I'd be lost without it. Literally. At the very least, I'd definitely have more panic attacks while driving without it! Ha!
2. Computers/Smart phones. As much as I hate how much I'm on the computer and my smart phone, I love how easy they make things.
3. Google!

3(Sunday 1/15) 3 things you're grateful for that begin with M
1. Mom
2. Mark (my brother who lives with us [mom, Mark and I all live together. it works well for us])
3. Music

M things:

1. Medicine—I often think how awful it would be to live in a time when we didn’t have antibiotics to treat infections and what it was like to endure dental work or other procedures before anesthesia and pain meds.

2. Money—we aren’t wealthy but we are very comfortable by my standards. I always tell my girls that we may not have as much as other people that they know (always someone richer or at least who appear richer based on their material possessions) but we have absolutely everything we need and a great deal of wants and that makes us some of the luckiest people on the planet.

3. Melons—love almost all of them. I like most fruit but love melons and berries.

3(Sunday 1/15) 3 things you're grateful for that begin with M:

Me - not in a self-centered way, just that I have the opportunity to be here, doing this, at this point in time

Movies

Mobility - have been having challenges straightening up after bending over, walking without limping and other various creaks and pops and stiffnesses over the past week but, despite that, I can still move myself about. For that, I am grateful.

And, thanks to the community for beginning and continuing this thread. And for giving me an opportunity to participate.

Happy Monday Everyone
It‘s the start of a new week
I hope it’s a good one for you all

#1 - I’m grateful for softballs 🥎 because this yellow ball has given me memories with my DD19, a great college scholarship for DD19, had us go places in the last 12 years I would have no reason to go to otherwise and friendships that will last a lifetime.

#2 - I’m grateful for my eyeballs 👁. I don’t have perfect vision, but any vision is better than no vision.

#3 - I’m grateful for the sun ☀️ which is something we won’t be seeing today. When the sun is shining it makes me feel so good, even when it’s shining bright on a 5 degree day.

Our pond’s de-icer is round. It prevents the entire surface of the pond from icing over. In winter, the fish slow down, mostly stay on the bottom, but they still need oxygen. So there has to be a spot where oxygen can get into the pond and carbon dioxide can get out of the pond.

Cans, cylinders with round ends. There are so many foods that I enjoy that come in cans.

Oranges. I love their color, their smell, their juice and their taste.

Round things. Hmm...

The sun, the moon, the earth.

Pizza

And Charlie Brown!

2. Kindergarten...being a teacher of kindergartners.
3. Kids...I just love them. Adults could learn a lot from them.

(Saturday 1/14) 3 Products/Tools/Routines that you're grateful for because they help you stay organized or make your life easier
1. As much as I hate technology, I am grateful for what I have access to when it's not driving me crazy.
2. My school routines which help me to be effective and create order in my classroom helping us all to be productive.
3. Books...for more reasons than I could list.

(Sunday 1/15) 3 things you're grateful for that begin with M
1. My Mom, may she Rest In Peace.
