Today's Topic (Sat, 1/4) - 3 foods you're grateful for with any kind sauce on them

Spaghetti and meatballs homemade of course I have a friend that lives in New York I used to work with this we’ve been friends for decades she’s Italian and she doesn’t call it sauce she calls it gravy and it used to confuse me because she’s like oh I’m making gravy tonight we’re having pasta and I made some gravy and when she would say that I was thinking you know like brown gravy or milk gravy and I’m thinking this most disgusting thing in the world to put on your pasta it took me a long time to realize she meant tomato sauce we had a good laugh over that one and then she’s like well don’t you make your own tomato sauce and I’m like normally no she was horrified and then she gave me a really long lecture and I can never tell her that I popped open a can of tomato sauce because to her that was unthinkable you had to make your own gravy you could not open up a jar from the store what were you thinking🤣🤣🤣

Chicken fried steak with gravy and I don’t mean tomato sauce🤣🤣 I don’t eat this very often but man a man do I love it have ever since I was a little kid

Chicken and dumplings!! I consider that broth since it’s so creamy a sauce !! I used to make this about once a month on Sundays!!!

Chocolate lava cake !!! The only cake I like a sauce with!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Good morning friends :)

The only sauce I enjoy is Sprouts Original Applesauce.

Pre pandemic when I enjoyed ice cream, hot fudge sauce was sure yummy. Dear WDWEPCOT, I do remember thinking Denny's lava cake was very tasty.

Dad enjoys pizza and pasta with sauces.

My homemade macaroni and cheese (or any good cheese sauce).
The sauce on DD's braised short ribs.
Good bolognese sauce.
Fruit sauces, especially cherry, orange, and apricot (not like applesauce, more like for meat or ice cream, I suppose, if I have to...)

Hollandaise - We were just discussing it last night. DD16 and DH are big Benedict fans and I love it on veggies like asparagus. I’m debating about giving DD16 a lesson on making it because I want to test the water bottle egg separating technique.

Cheese sauce - While Mac & Cheese is my most common use for it, it’s fun for sprucing up broccoli or even a casserole topper. Not exactly the same but it also has me thinking about fondue.

Cream gravy - It came to mind because I’ve been asked to make stroganoff before DD18 heads back to school. Not that it’s made with cream gravy but it got me thinking about it. I like cream gravy so much that I could eat it like a soup. I even prefer it over ketchup and mayo for French fries. Of course it also goes with biscuits, chicken fried steak/chicken/pork, mashed potatoes, etc.

The Perfect Gift with Jefferson Moore and The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry were two smaller movies that were well done by my faith belief.

The original Santa Claus was a lot of fun.

Mary Poppins is a bit too long for me but such a timeless and great story.

The Thin Man movies - 6 of them from the 1930 - William Powell & Myrna Loy

Just about any movie with Walter Matthau & Jack Lemmon - from Grumpy Old Men to the Odd Couple and A few other movies

Billy Crystal movies - always entertaining I enjoy a lot of his movies - some of my favorites - Americas Sweethearts & Analyze This & Analyze That & City Slickers

Harry Potter of course !!!

Good Sunday Morning!

#1 - The Greatest Showman - Great memories of DD21 seeing this at theater and watching it together many times afterwards

#2 - City Slickers I & II - Great memories of seeing these with my grandma, she loved these movies. Every time I watch these now, I always think of her.

#3 - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part I & II) - I love all HP movies, but the Deathly Hallows is very special for me. I took DD26 to see these at the big IMAX theater at Navy Pier in Chicago (no longer there, it sadly closed during COVID). It was a lot of fun seeing these there. Every time I watch these now I think of those days.

Shawshank redemption ...love freeman comforting voice.. I always wait for the one bank teller whose voice makes my life

Chariots of fire soundtrack is uplifting and has it haunting moments

And if I only one movie to watch over and over...1983 Blade runner... soundtrack nourishes me and Roy Batty's ending speech....fit for all of us.."if you have seen what I have seen"

The Harry Potter movies - always one of my favorite marathons

A double-episode (so movie-length, if I can count that) of The Waltons that I watch every Christmastime called The Children's Carol

And Steel Magnolias, because I can count on it for a good cry if I need one!

Movies . . .

Classic musicals like My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, Brigadoon, etc. I have always loved musical theater, but grew up in an area where seeing a live performance wasn’t an option. Movies were the only way to see the classic shows. While I like later musicals too, the classics are some of the very best in my opinion.

Holiday romance movies. There is just something extra when a movie is set during the Thanksgiving to New Year’s period that even tops the valentine themed films. I watch my favorites all year round.

Saving Mr. Banks. I know it wasn’t a huge hit film, but I love it. To see Walt and the Sherman brothers brought to life is amazing to me, and Ms. Travers backstory was so touching. I am sure there were plenty of liberties taken when comparing the movie to real life (such as the friendship with the driver), but the movie is the way I hope many aspects of the real life story came about. It’s just a little gem of a film to me.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone - I saw it first with my parents over thanksgiving 2001 (they were into the books…it took me longer) and the next weekend with DH (who was BF at the time). The visuals, the story and the entire world were just pure magic. Add in that it was the holidays and the movie had a portion that took place over Christmas time and it was perfection. It also debuted about 2 months after 9/11, so it brought some welcome hope and joy. I also would later find that it’s one of two that remains really faithful to its corresponding book and all of the rich details. So, I can watch it and feel good with that too.

Wicked - I love musicals but it's been a long time since I've seen one on the big screen that I really enjoyed. We absolutely loved it and it was nice to have a family night out at the movies where everyone had a good time.

Mary Poppins - It’s my favorite Disney movie. The music and the messages are timeless, not to mention that it’s a perfect blend of live action and Disney animation.

3 pkg Baking Potatoes 🥔 - these are better potatoes than they regular ones great for baked potatoes

Three Stooges - stupid but funny I still think they’re hilarious I’ve been watching them for decades it’s really just funny to me I enjoy watching them

Primary colors - Red / Blue / Yellow - if you have those you can make just about any color you want
