Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Good Monday Morning

#1 - The Holy Trinity - I’m most especially grateful for this.

#2 - My neighbors girls (3 of them) - I’m grateful to have been a part of their entire lives. They are good girls and I love them like nieces.

#3 - 3 Strikes/Strike Out - when my daughter was pitching. I was always grateful when she would get a strike out. After she stepped off the mound and didn’t pitch anymore, I always got excited when the other pitchers on her team would get a strike out. One of those pictures now plays for Loyola in Chicago and she is absolutely incredible. So much fun to watch and one of my favorite players that DD21 ever played with (they played together in high school)

:) dear Tigger. I'm glad you enjoy Mary Poppins, too. I have thought for many years that Disney ought to make a Mary Poppins ride of sorts.

There was some speculation a while ago:

Thread here

I know Walt wanted one and there was buzz for a while about something being added in the UK area at Epcot, but it's still never come to fruition. I personally have had all sorts of ideas, but my favorite would be a dark ride where you're in the role of Mary, riding on an "Umbrella" where you get to explore the worlds of Bert's various chalk masterpieces. I'd initially thought a carousel horse would be better, but the horses are specific to that chalk drawing and I think it would be fun to explore multiple. Maybe some Imagineers are listening??? 😊

Car rows - For the last 12+ years, I have had vehicles with three rows of seating. You'd think it's to haul around my kids and their friends/teammates, but it was actually so we could all fit in one vehicle for my parents' visits.

Another vote for strikes/outs - I can hear one of the dads in my head right now yelling "that's why we get three!"

"Holy" Trinity Mirepoix - While it's early in the crawfish season, we went out for Cajun/Creole the other night since DH was craving etouffee. We all ordered different things, but the trinity seems to be the backbone for pretty much all of them. Man, some gumbo would really hit the spot right now!

Today's Topic (Tues, 1/7) - 3 creative things/people/ideas you're grateful for

Good Tuesday Morning!

#1 - My DH - He’s very creative and was awesome when he helped our girls with school projects.

#2 - My Past Customers - When I did custom picture framing for 25 years, I was very grateful for my customers. So much talent entrusted me with their artwork.

#3 - Vendors At Craft Fairs - Even though I don’t buy everything from everyone, I’m still amazed and impressed with everyone’s creativity.

Good morning!

Dad and I once had fun creating our own newspaper cover that we entered in a Dollar Tree contest. We didn't win but the procesd was a bonding memory.

Kid's drawings especially can be most creative indeed.

Original story (either book or movie) ideas can provide much entertainment.

Tigger, I also envisioned the chalk drawings being a big part of the ride. I thought somehow we (guests) would go inside them perhaps similar to entering a dark ride section now. Fun to think about :)

I had a similar thought. I feel like they could utilize some of tech/magic that went into Belle's magic mirror at Enchanted Tales with Belle in WDW's MK. Replace Beauty and the Beast scene for a chalk drawing and have it magically evaporate so we can pass through into that world.

My aunt - she always had a craft for us to do when we were kids - wide range of things that we did lots of fun memories
Because of this I think that instilled in me the belief that I could do anything and to this day I do a lot of crafts or fix up projects

Not having a lot of money when you’re younger teaches you how to refinish things or repurpose things to become creative to make all things look nice people give you things and you want them to look nice so you learn how to fix them up I had a lot of hand downs when I first got married and I became very creative
Magazines / Pinterest - Great way to get inspiration to try things in your own house very grateful for both

Photographers - I am and will probably always be a novice, but good photographers push me to make my pictures more interesting. I see the work of others and it sparks inspiration. We often test this during travel. DH and could take a photo of an elk. His pic may be a perfectly fine photo of an elk, but in mine, I've usually zoomed in or out some, angled it a little, and tried to frame it with bits of mountains and trees.

Chefs - Again, another novice here, but chefs are inspiring. I might not be able to deliver a Michelin star restaurant level dish, but everything from unexpected flavor profile pairings to plating and prep methods inspire the home cook to do more than just the basics. Not that the basics are bad, but they do say that variety is the spice of life.

My first real voice teacher - She was in her early 70s, had a really respectable background with Juilliard and later went on to work at one of the crown jewels in the public school system. She normally only worked with adults and older teens for private instruction, but she decided to take a chance on a 12 year old. We were an odd couple and she was extremely tough, but we clicked and she worked her magic. In addition to music, she taught me about art, etiquette, fashion and the world of social elites with the theater. In fact, during my studies, her adult daughter left corporate America and miraculously transitioned into a highly regarded sculptural artists in the NY art scene. Her pieces were featured in magazines like Town & Country, but would take up space in my voice teacher's living room while they were waiting for gallery space to open up. I could write paragraphs on the experience, but I don't want to bore everyone.

@flyingdumbo127 asked about my Charlie Brown Christmas dishes, that DH gave me. I figured I'd post the picture here, so everyone can see them! The only thing about them that makes me sad is the price; Sam's club dropped the price by 65% the day after Christmas!
(And yes, that's a POP Century resort mug from back in the day, when each resort had a mug that was SPECIFIC to that resort; none of the generic stuff that Disney passes off these days!)
