Three Things...Gratitude Thread

TGIF DIS Friends! :cool1:

Treats!
I ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Treats!

#1 - I’m grateful for all my bundt cake recipes that I have - I love making bundt cakes. I haven’t made one since December though because of DH becoming diabetic.

#2 - I’m grateful for Dairy Queen which is 1/2 mile from my house - DD19 and I go sneak an ice cream cone sometimes since DH shouldn’t have it - don’t tell him :ssst::lmao:

#3 - I’m grateful for all the treats my DD19 and I just shared at WDW - especially the beignets - so good! :goodvibes

YUM!

1. Strawberry shortcake - my favorite summer dessert!
2. Birthday cake - I love white birthday sheet cake with buttercream frosting!
3. Corn flake cookies / Almond bark cookies - they were my mom's "thing", and they've kind of become mine. Always an easy no-bake cookie to throw together to take somewhere and everyone seems to love them!

What are Magic Middle Cookies, Allison Joy, they sound tasty! I did love Mystic Mint Cookies in the green box as a kid. I also remember when visting my grandma in Houston in the early 90's, cookies we called, brown edge. They were similar, I think, remember it has been years, to shortbread cookies just not as thick.

What a sweet Friday thread :)

Grandma sure loved all things 🍫🍨I think she may have loved candy especially Reese's more than ice cream. I will always remember on a 🍓note that yes, she enjoyed the fresh healthy berry, but strawberry ice cream from Rite Aid brought her comfort in her last days on earth. As a kid, I remember her often enjoying a small fry and strawberry sundae at McDonalds as a light lunch. I sure, as I have shared, loved my grandma.

My very favorite sweet treat today is probably my small cup of hot chocolate. Simple, semi not too terrible for me because I make it with milk and don't drink very much of it, just 7oz. Of course hot, fresh out of the oven 🍪are sure wonderful, too!

Dad enjoys richer desserts at times such as small slices of🥧and ice cream.

Enjoy a sweet treat this weekend, friends :)

Treats…
1. Homemade snickerdoodle cookies.
2. My modified rice krispie treat recipe…fresh marshmallows, real vanilla, mini marshmallows folded in at the end so you get some whole ones, and 1/3 of the cereal is fruity pebbles…now I need to make some this weekend!
3. Our local ice cream shop…double scoop coffee chocolate chunk on a sugar cone.

I think you and I would make great friends. We have a lot in common. :)

I recently read about adding condensed milk to rice krispies to make them stay soft. I doubt I'd ever try it since classic is tried and true, but I thought it was interesting!

Treats

Refrigerator Biscuit Cake (I'm not sure it has an official name and I don't know what you call it your side of the pond), but... dark chocolate melted with crushed biscuits and honey/syrup, maybe with marshmallows and tiny pieces of almonds etc..

This week, I'm baking a fudgy brownie with raspberries and topped with frosting and marzipan. Decadent and delicious! Brownie 😋 Raspberries 😋 Frosting (you can never have too much frosting!) 😋 Marzipan 😋

A soft, chewy chocolate chip cookie. (I still haven't found my ideal recipe, most online are measured in cups.)

Special mention for butter (eggless) cookies and Anzac Biscuits.

Yes, that looks the same!!

And now I'm in trouble, because apparently I can order them through Amazon. :rotfl:

I think I'll wait until we're not having a heat wave, as I'm sure they'd melt on my porch, but I put it on my list so I can order some (and maybe the Wispa that popped up too  ) this fall.
Sorry and you're welcome! :rotfl: Wise to wait til cooler weather though.
You dear friends reminded me that today's kids will also never know the Disney Sunday night movie! I loved Flight of the Navigator for the first time that way.

Sweet dreams everyone :)
Flight of the Navigator is a lovely movie. :thumbsup2

> My red velvet cake. Recipe was given to me by a close friend from grad school in the late 80s; it was his mom's, and it's delicious. Frosting is a white sauce that is cooled and then butter and sugar beaten in, very different from any frosting I've ever had and not terribly sweet at all. It's amazing. I made it for DD's wedding cake in 2021. My friend was there and it turns out that he is a 2nd cousin to my son-in-law, and my friend's good friend is my son in law's step-uncle. A true family recipe, from both sides.

>My sister makes a killer maple creme brulee.

>Pink peppermint stick ice cream

Tink-osophy, I'm glad to hear you also liked Flight of the Navigator. It was a smaller movie that I really thought was well done.

Leebee, extra hug, with continuing healing prayers, I sure loved pink peppermint stick ice cream years ago!

PollyannaMom, hug always to you, too, positive memories through favorite treats, conversations, or as is often the case being with loved ones in every day moments or at ::MickeyMobring such comfort indeed. Grandma used to bake what she called Snowball Cookies that were so good. They were small ball shaped chocolate chip🍪rolled in powdered sugar. I've read about similar sounding treats in books. Grandma was a wonderful baker, all around cook, really, and these cookies were definitely a sweet treat. Good memory, thanks :)

Treats . . .

An old recipe we have called Disappearing Marshmallow Brownies. It has a butterscotch base, with chopped nuts, chocolate chips and mini marshmallows stirred in. We only make them at Christmas.

Ice cream, most flavors, with toppings or without. I love ice cream! 🍨🍦

Fruit pie, whether it’s cherry, peach, berry, lemon or key lime. I prefer fruit pies, with a nice scoop of a complimentary flavor of ice cream.

Treats I'm grateful for:

my Dad's strawberry shortcake!

Hostess snowballs - a childhood favorite, now occasionally a comfort food if I'm sick or going through a rough time

a lobster roll once or twice a summer
I haven't read all the posts yet, are you the first to mention a savoury treat? :thumbsup2 ETA: Yes, you are! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Funny how most of us automatically chose sweet treats.

Did someone say LOBSTER ROLL?????? YES please !!!!! PRETTY PLEASE with sugar in top?? Can you fedex me one ???
🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞
I can’t get them here !! I miss them so much ! Costco used to sell bulk lobster so for a treat ( once a year 💰💰💰) I would get some lobster and make lobster rolls - heaven !!!!! I always get them when I go to WDW ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’d get a whole lobster but I’d have to sell one if my organs to pay what Disney charges for a lobster 😳😳🤣🤣🤣🤣
