Three Things...Gratitude Thread

My Town - I’ve lived here over 50 yrs - a lot has changed - I’m sad the town has grown so much - a little is nice but way too much with bad city planning is not good - sadly we have a HUGE drug problem which brings with it a lot of crime - meth is a horrible problem not to be out done by heroin - very sad - I’ve had houses by me blow up from the people in it making meth
When I was looking to move I would only look at new houses as old ones could be meth houses and people are not honest to rehab as should and meth houses are very dangerous as the chemicals get into everything - they are a bio hazard
Often times it’s not the poor people who are doing the drugs - it’s your nice well to do neighbor - it’s really sad
One of the draw backs of being in an area that has a lot of rural spaces

I do find I enjoy being close to big box stores - we have them now - most of the time you can obtain just about anything you need within 5 miles
I can get a lot more food deliveries now than ever before - I’m grateful for that
I now have awesome neighbors - something I have not had since I was a kid - both sets if neighbors are very kind and friendly and my new neighborhood is safe - can’t put a price on that !! 🙏
My only drawback for living here is winter - y’all know how much I LOVE winter 🤣🤣 if I had the funds I’d be living in a beach house in the Caymen Islands 🏝️💭
Here's to a tropical move for you one day! 🍹🌴🌞

I didn't know whether to "like" the second part of your post or "yikes" the first part. Glad you found a safe place and that it has some good points.

Thank you all again for all your lovely mom and extra mom's shares. Let us always give thanks for and celebrate love.

3 Town Things

That Dad and I have a safe and loving roof over our head together in health. God willing I would love for us to be able to afford to move one day. Zero complaints, only thanks from me to God always! Plus our area is covenient to many church options, stores, and doctors.

Kind people within our area who give me extta peace of mind knowing dad will see them when he's out such as our friend Aurora at Ralphs. Extra people looking out for those we love is such a blessing indeed!

We still have 2 places right now:

Old town suburban closer to rural:
Great place to raise a family, much lower cost of living & lots of family involvement in schools and activities, I was able to be a SAHM & did PTA from K - HS.
There were farms and such, I still love to go by and see the cows grazing and sunflower fields, creeks and all.
So much grass & land everywhere it made access to sports for my kids easy breezy so they were exposed to a lot of sports and fun including swinging by a rope into the river, it was idyllic. Grateful but time to pull up the last stakes & go.

New suburban closer to city town:
It is 20 min from a city with fab jobs for the family.
It is 20 min from a beach & the ocean.
My family is all here now:lovestruc

I'm grateful for my neighborhood because it was like a "time warp" when DS was little where all the kids could still just run around together and play.

I'm grateful for my town because it has as a wonderful library (which is also part of a great larger network).

And I'm grateful that it's not too far from a large, historic city - so we have the benefits of that as well.

There are many things about the neighborhood we live in that I’m grateful for…hard to just pick 3! Top ones right now…

1. Great hospital less than a 5 minute drive. Last June my husband had a heart attack and I was able to get him there as soon as he started feeling numbness in his arm. Thank God everyday that we got there when we did and that he had a quick recovery!

2. Walkable neighborhood. Everything we like to do, we can easily walk to…restaurants, shopping, church, metroparks system, coffee shops.

3. Great neighbors! Polite, friendly, and helpful…but nobody is in your business. A lot of new, young families moving in. We are now some of the “old folks” (50s) on our street. When did that happen, lol!

Good Morning!

Just a quickie answer today so I can go workout before my DD19’s 9:00am game, that I’ll be watching the live stream on my tablet - she’s in Georgia.

#1 - My DH - he‘s very creative (thanks to his mom, who’s also creative)

#2 - People who post on Pinterest and TikTok - I’ve gotten so many creative ideas from there

#3 - A friend who makes custom cups - I’ve had her make several gifts for people

Creative things I'm grateful for:

📸 The scrapbooking craze when DS was little - I really enjoyed the creative outlet and now I have so many fun pictures to look back on! (I should definitely get back into that hobby!)

🩰 Going to kids' performances. My "younger" (grown now) nieces were active in drama right through college and my friend's little girl (honorary niece) is in dance now. I love going to their shows!

📌 Another vote for Pinterest (and I'll include YouTube as well) - If you don't know how to make a craft or a recipe nowadays, it's so easy to learn how!

Creative Memories....I bought the humongous kit and never scrapbooked a day in my life 😂

Creative things:
1. DD. She just disappears and comes back with a painting, sculpture, jewelry...who knows what will come.
2. My cookie making. I love to come up with new flavors and methods.
3. Teachers that come up with cool ways to engage their students. I purchase off of Teachers Pay Teachers for some of DD's homeschool materials.

Creative Things:
1. I will add to the Pinterest love. I get decorating ideas there frequently, but mostly recipes. I used to use Allrecipes a lot, but these days it’s almost all Pinterest.
2. Beautiful gardens—Disney does this well, but I really enjoy a home garden that is nicely out together.
3. I have several pieces of jewelry made from broken China. Very pretty and so creative.
