Three Princesses and a June Trip to Disney World with pics, Final Update Aug 11th

When do you think you'll return?
It will be at least a couple of years before we go back. Next year will probably be a beach vacation like Cape Canaveral or California (if we can swing that one). The problem with California is that I always compare it to a Florida vacation and Florida is always cheaper so California gets put in the background again.

Also, the next time we go to Disney we would like to stay at either the Yacht Club again or at the Contemporary. We've been spoiled by the Yacht Club and much preferred it over POR. So, we need to save for that.

glad that you had a great day at AK.:goodvibes My favorite park at WDW. Dream Fastpasses:thumbsup2 , woowhoo. Glad that your family won them.

HI Patti...nice to see you again...sorry its a lot of reading! POR was beautiful and I am so glad we were able to stay there!!!! :yay: Are you going back soon?

Hopefully in the spring next year, we promissed the kids this fall but me dear sister is having twins and I need to be there for her:scared1:

I just checked out TGM wow that is pretty cool, I will definetly use him when the time comes!!:thumbsup2

Have fun planning your new trip

Finally caught up!!! I am so excited you won the Dream Fast Passes! We hardly saw the DT and when we did they weren't even looking at us. Oh well!!!

We didn't take the train to Conservation Station this year and I regret it. DH thought it was boring last year but I missed it.

Can't wait for more!! :goodvibes

Thanks so much Buffy!!! I thought it was a year? Doesn't it go till Dec? No?

I think it started on Oct 1 last year and is supposed to end on Oct 1 this year. It is kinda unclear, though. The online entrys end on Oct 1 but I'm unsure if the park promotion continues. I think the rumor is that since Epcot is having their 25 year anniversary starting Oct, the YOMD will end and the anniversary will start.

The best part of the greet was that we could skip Pocah. show near Lion King.:thumbsup2

I hear that!

I just found your TR and I'm not even halfway through it yet, but just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying it! You have a beautiful family!

And you know, I have always enjoyed the Jungle Cruise better by night than by day, myself!

I like the locations of those two places....you dont necessarily have to keep hoping on the bus to go somewhere!

Day Five – Animal Kingdom Lodge and Boma!

So I left off discussing our transportation options to AKL. Our solution was to try the bus first and if one didn’t come in a certain amount of time, we would take a cab. So back out to the bus stop we went. As it turned out, a bus came within a few minutes so we hopped on around 5:30 pm. After going around the resort and dropping everyone off, it was only ourselves and another family, who were going to BB. For some reason they felt the need to swim for an hour before the park closed. I asked them if they had the waterpark option on their tickets or were they going to pay full price for an hour. Fortunately they did have the waterpark on their passes so it wasn’t a total waste of money IMHO. So once they got off, we were the only ones on the bus and then more magic :wizard: happened. Our bus driver asked us if we were going to AKL and we said yes so he took us there directly!!!! How cool is that! I forgot to mention that Belle fell asleep  on me during the bus ride over so we put her in the stroller to nap once we got off the bus.

We arrived at 6 pm for our 6:30 pm ADRs and had some time to look around. The AKL lobby was amazing! :yay: We took some pics and DH took Cindy outside to see the Savanna. I did notice the construction outside and they had the 2nd and 3rd floor draped. At least I think that drape was due to construction. I didn’t hear any noise but since our visit, apparently Disney decided to go all out and finish the construction. So they did start moving some guests out to other hotels during August. Some people really got great deals in the move too but I can see how they would be disappointed not to stay here.

I went downstairs to Boma to check in and get our light-up ressy thingy. Then relaxed upstairs with Liz and the sleepy Belle on a nice comfy sofa. Liz watched TV, which is something she hasn’t done all week. AHHHH! pirate: About 6:25 the device lights  up but DH is no where in sight. I wait a few minutes then leave Liz by the doors to snag DH and Cindy when they return. I take the elevator with Belle downstairs and get in line at the check in. I look up and here comes the rest of my family! Apparently DH had Cindy on video. Here it is:

"Where are we?" video...click here

Boma is amazing! :dance3: We got a huge table and brought the sleepy babe and stroller in with us. Disney is so kind about this situation. Our server was nice and brought us drinks right away. The girls colored and then we started taking turns going up to get our food. Ahhhh the flavors were excellent. I loved the soup and dressing on the salad. I had to have seconds on that. I couldn’t believe Belle was missing out on all of this good food. We took our time and made lots of trips. I don’t know about you but even with DD9 I go up to the buffet and help her but apparently that was lost on some parents. They let their kids go up by themselves and they would inevitably touch the food. DH had to speak to several unattended children and also one child who parents were there but oblivious. I guess even the OP had to eat sometime. When we finished dinner, it was time for the dessert bar. I had heard mixed reviews on the Zebra Domes and so I had Liz try one first…she’s the pickiest of all. Her eyes lit up when she took a bit and she loved them! I concur! We also had cookies and some kind of pie for dessert. Boma is da bomb I tell ya! I would never skip this place on our future trips!

I asked the server about taking food out for Belle and he said it wasn’t allowed, which I figured since it was a buffet. I told DH we could just get her something later at the food court. However, then our server leaned in and said we were allowed to take the paper drink cups out. Would we like more cups? I didn’t get it at first but when he repeated himself it dawned on me that we could put food in the cups with the lids…awwwww great idea and now Belle could have some yummy Boma food too. :thanks: Thank you Mr. Server. I went up and picked out some stuff I thought she would like and put them in the cups with lids. We “paid” and were rolled out :upsidedow of Boma. I was tired and full!

Continued in next post!!! popcorn::

Day 5: Animal Kingdom Lodge and Boma Continued

What an Awesome Exciting pixiedust: Pixie-Dusted Disney Day!!! To top it all off, DH decided to taxi it back to POR. We just walked out the front door and there was a cab waiting. Belle woke up as we were getting in the cab and I worried about not having a car seat. Course the guy drove like a maniac :scared: … I was almost laughing/gasping in the back seat. It’s funny how you spend your entire life strapping your kids in until you get to Disney and there isn’t a car seat/seat belt to be found! I think he got us to POR in 5 min. but we were still in one piece!

Back in our room, Belle snacked on her Boma food while we talked about what to do next. We decided to cap off our day with a swim. Well I did anyways. DH decided to relax. watch TV and sleep! I got the girls ready in their suits and brought their pj’s and towels with me. Good thing since there are no towels left at the pool at night. We went to the kiddie pool and Liz swam for a little bit in the big pool. It was hard watching two places at once so she kindly came over to the kiddie pool and hung out with the lil' girls and I.

It was about 9 pm at this point and getting dark. Can you all stand one more misbehaving kid/parent story??? I noticed a little girl came over to the kiddie pool at this point. She was splashing Brook and I gently told her no. She looked at me and did it again. I smiled as sweetly as I could as said a little louder (so her parents could hear) not to splash. She swam away. It happened again a few minutes later. I asked her where her mommy and daddy were. A voice speaks up over on the lounge chair…it was a dad who was on his cell phone. I give him a glaring look (one of my best teacher looks) but it had absolutely no effect.:sad2: The little girl continued around the pool splashing other kids, pushing and trying to take things from them. We had brought a little ring so when she took that I let her play with it for a bit. She seemed  mad or jealous that Cindy, Liz and Belle were playing and swimming so nicely together. The next time she splashed Belle, Belle splashed her right back and then it was a splashing match. I said to stop and she looked me dead in the eye and kept going. The look in her eye gave it away. Have you seen the look in the eye of a child who is desperate? Who isn’t taken care of? As a teacher I see it a lot. So rather than make a scene, I picked Belle up and moved all of us over to the other side of the pool. Don’t worry though, the dad never saw it or did anything about the girl. At this point I felt sorry for her. Clearly there was something wrong with her…she was mean and out of control but obviously she was ignored and alone. Soon thereafter the dad was done on the phone and they left.

On a good note, :flower3: our friends from the night before showed up and played with the girls in the pool and the mom and I chatted. It was nice to hear about their day. At this point it was 9:45 pm so we said our good-byes and I got the girls out. I showered them off and wrapped them in towels. I clearly heard the hot tub calling my name, so while the girls sat on chairs drying off, I soaked in the tub :cloud9: for 10 min. Ahhhhhh, that was nice! But we did have to get to bed for our big Epcot day. I changed the girls into their PJ’s (not Liz of course) and we headed back to the room.

We let ourselves in (see sidenote below) and I prepared the “night-night” milk. Belle nibbled at more of her Boma meal while Liz changed. We brushed teeth and I got everyone in bed and then I changed and went to bed myself. It was 10:30 pm …..I was asleep before my head hit the pillow!

Next up…Epcot Day!

Sidenote: To let ourselves in we had to have our Key card. I came thru the door and put down a bunch of stuff, including the card, down on the table. Just want you to keep this in mind…wait to see what happens next!!!!!

That's it. A side note and then nothing. You can't tell a little story like that and leave us hanging:headache:

Another great installment! Looking foward to hearing about your day at Epcot!!!:goodvibes

I'm so glad you all enjoyed Boma! I really want to try some other places next trip, but I'm having a hard time leaving Boma off the list. :guilty:

Hi MickeyDee :yay: Thanks for coming on board and reading!! :cheer2: I also want to try BTMRR too....have you tried it at night??

I have not tried it at night. And...hmmm...come to think of it, I have not tried it at all, because I am a BIG CHICKEN! I definitely need to hit that ride on my upcoming trip!

Haha! That's great! What an awesome waiter!

And what a great trip report installment! Can't wait for the next!

Wow--what a great dinner! DH would really like to try Boma, but I'm too scared.

Was this the first night you went to bed at the same time as the girls? :rotfl2:

Uh oh, I sense a "forgotten" key card story coming up!

Denise

Reading about Boma is just killing me!!! :lmao: What a wonderful server you had! And I loved the video of your little princess! princess:

How very sad to read about the little girl at the pool. :sad2: I have seen children who are just dying for attention. Once a little girl (maybe 8?)followed Maddie and I around Target just listening to our conversation and watching our interaction as we shopped and chatted. I thought it very bizarre, until I saw her mother, gabbing on the cell phone oblivious that her child was wandering the store.
But I'm glad you got in some nice pool time with your resort friends! :goodvibes

popcorn:: Can't wait to hear what happens next!
