Three Petals + one stem = When planting, be sure to use the right-sized container, Day One
Date: May 8th, 2003
Plan: Leave @ 7:25pm with arrival @ MCO @ 9:05pm
Tiffany Towncar (TTC) pickup to Caribbean Beach Resort, meet
up with "Mum" and "T" Rose
After working all night on May 7th, I still find it hard to sleep while Pete is at work-whenever I lay down, the countdown begins Were leaving for Disney in ___ hours (minutes, seconds-you get the picture!)
This trip was so on again, off again due to our unstable finances (new house, new car, taxes, etc.) that I truly cant believe we are on our way! Packing is pretty simple since I kept all my stuff together from last trip (October 2002). Biggest decision: to bring Halloween pins or not? I do; Pete doesnt. We make sure to lock ourselves out of our house (sans house AND car keys) before we are
finally
headed to Greensboro, NC for our easy breezy nonstop flight to Orlando, FL.
After a long hot wait for our TTC (they only charge us $45/roundtrip for the hassle, thankfully), we make our way to CBR. Pete is surprisingly easygoing about the whole TTC ordeal so I take the hint and chill. (Not easy for this hot house flower! I want to be there already!
) Because Mum, being the beauty that she is, has prepaid our room, check in only takes ~10 minutes. Already I have taken loads of pictures
and we havent even got out of the custom house yet! Chagrined, I amuse myself with chatting up the bellhop but since we arrived ~10pm, there isnt much of a wait for luggage service. I am a bit disappointed to see a full-sized van as our transport and pine a smidge for our open tram from our last stay at POFQ. Its always a little overwhelming to arrive at a new resort at night-I want to SEE everything!-but I am really pleased to find that our request to be in Martinique (#23) has been granted (boy, AM I after seeing how huge this resort is!) and especially tickled to see the bus stop just yards away from the steps to our second story room, #2551.
Our secret knock opens the door to who else? T Rose and Mum dressed in their finest (pajamas.
) I feel like time is both standing still and speeding past. Its late and Im tired and I want to be up bright and early tomorrow, but I have to tell them about our trip and I want to get my refillable mug and check out the resort and-Oh. Whats this package? T Rose smiles and pleads with me to open it as I mentally speed scan our pretty tropical room. (Talk about sensory overload!) I find a Nurses Day 2003 pin (my first of the trip-woo hoo!)-Chip and Dales dancing picture complete with syringe and stethoscope inspires me to jump up and hug T. Mum alternates between hiding under the covers from the bellhop to jumping on the bed and giving us the grand tour of our room.
My first impression of the room is WOW! Really pretty. I was afraid the bright colors might be a bit too garish (I mean, Im use to the gentle colors of the All Star Resorts, after all
), but somehow the environment is both fun and peaceful. I really like it! Its a noticeable step up from the All Star Resorts-all the little extras like the ceiling fan, pegs on the wall to hold extra clothes and double sink makes it a much better room especially for four adults. Our favorite thing in the room will become our much-cherished boudoir curtain between the sleeping quarters and the bathing quarters (say this with a French aristocratic accent for full effect!). This allows us all to dress at the same time, and we love timesavers at Disney! (Plus its just fun to say boudoir.)
T Rose escorts Pete and I to the food court along a meandering (think confusing) path, but we manage to get our refillable mugs (green for Pete, blue-the best-for me!) and a snack before Port Royale closes (11pm). The night air is remarkably humid and the mosquitoes out in force! (Note to self-next time, bring bug spray!) I like the white sand beach look and the beautiful tropical flowering plants. However, we all will constantly be amazed and astounded this trip at the enormity of CBR. We absolutely cannot imagine a longer walk to the food court or main pool and we were in Martinique! What do all those poor souls do who are placed in Barbados? (We shudder to think.) This is one area that the All Star Resorts win, hands down. We also missed being able to fill our mugs and step our to the bus stop. You almost dont need a mug here because it is just so inconvenient to go fill it up! We absorb all this information along with the very small-for-resort size food court as we sip Poppin Pink lemonade and weave our way toward home.
Weeds-go away!
1. Waiting for TTC!
2. Locking ourselves out of our house!
3. Van ride to Martinique
4. Bug bites!
5. Enormity of CBR and distance to food court
Blooms of the Day
1. D Day is here!
2. Fun we had looking for signs of WDW from the plane (no luck!)
3. CBR-a new home to explore!
4. Our location and seeing Epcot ball on our way to food court
5. Our room-especially our boudoir!
6. My first pin!
7. Mum and T Roses hugs and kisses!
