Three kids at what resorts?

After many trips with two kids...we know have an addition! Our happy family consists of 17yo daughter, 15 yo daughter and 15 month old son! We would like to go in October for Halloween party or late November or early December 2005 for Christmas party. I started checking room rates and found out (waltdisneyworld.com) that only the deluxe resorts sleep 5. We have stayed in the past at Poly, Coronado, Port Orleans, Carribbean and Fort Wilderness lodge. Other than the Poly..I didn't really notice that the rooms were that much larger or smaller than the deluxe wilderness room. Has anyone stayed at a moderate with this many people?
Also, DH wants to stay at Contemp because we can catch the monorail and walk to MK. We have never done WDW with a stroller before! Is it really close enough to walk?

If your child still sleeps in a crib, you can stay anywhere you want! All of the resorts will accomodate a crib in addition to the beds.

Congratulations on your recent addition. Hows it feel changing diapers again after all the years without them!?

Yep, kids under 3 do not count as a "person in the room". So you can stay at any resort.

We stayed at the CR this past Christmas and it was great. The main reason we stayed there because it was the busiest week of the year and we figured beging close to MK and the monorail would be a big plus, and it was. (but we had a great discount and could not have afforded it without it)

The rooms at the CR are very large. We've always stayed at a moderate or SOG and they were much bigger then the moderates. Having the daybed was nice, even though there was only three of us, everyone enjoyed spreading out on there own bed.

We stayed at POFQ in July and I can't imagine 5 people in one room. Have you thought of getting two rooms at a value resort. You would also have two bathrooms.

You could let the 15 and 17 year olds stay in a room by themselves just adjoining yours and then you could all have a little privacy. Thats what we started doing whenour kids were that age. It was very relaxing for all of us. Maybe just stay in a moderate if cost is an issue for you.

I have the same situation, DS17, DD15 and DS3, we are going in March and have a room at POR AB Section. I think it's going to be just fine!

Since your new addition is under 3 years old, you may stay in any of the resorts and ask for a portocrib.

If you desire more space, you will be best off in a home away from home or a deluxe. I would take advantage of the fact that you can still use a room that sleeps 4 for at least another 1 1/2 years! Port Orleans Riverside has rooms with a trundle that will sleep 5, as long as the 5th is young.

You could also get adjoining rooms at a Value and let the 15 yo and the 17 yo share one. Think of it... 2 bathrooms... so important when traveling with teens!

Well, your options sound wide-open. I'm not sure which kind of theming or parks you prefer...if the 17 and 15 yo would rather be in the Epcot area than the MK...hmmmm.

Based on your post it sounds like room size is a consideration, and the Contemporary has huge rooms right near MK (as you know) and there is a great arcade and shops your teenagers might like. I personally love GF if I had to choose a monorail resort...but your baby would be too young to participate in their range of children's activities and your teenagers would out of the upper range. There IS the great MK access and two great pools (much better than Contemporary) plus the lake access that is fun for everyone. It sounds like you know the Poly and maybe are looking elsewhere since it didn't sound like a dominating option to return.

POFQ is my favorite moderate...just stayed there last November after it had been refurbished and it was great. I'm a deluxe addict and I loved the place. The rooms weren't terribly small or anything and everything is very convenient to the room because it is so compact. However, it's all buses and not anywhere near as convenient in terms of location like the Contemporary is.

I think if you want to save some money, POFQ is a bargain for what you get and a great resort. If you are more interested in the pluses that the Contemporary has to offer, stay there.

Since the new addition I go weeks without being able to come on the disboards...but I got a few minutes today. Thanks for the idea of letting 17 and 15 have their own room at a Value..it's the DH who is hooked on the deluxe resorts. We stayed at Port Orleans before the refurb years ago..is it a lot different?
Also, what is a concierge room?

No one has mentioned the Cabins in Ft Wilderness. They have a separate bedroom with a double bed and a set of bunk beds and a murphy double bed in the living room and a full kitchen. I know the Campground is not everyone's idea of a resort vacation, but when our 3 boys were young it was the best choice for us. And it's a short boat ride to MK.

I don't have much info for you about PO, as we have never stayed there. However, we did stay at the Poly concierge last June and it was terrific. You stay in a separate building with keyed entrance. The cms will make all your priority seating arrangements for you before you arrive, and will take care of almost anything for you. (They had a Cinderella dress waiting in our room for my daughter when we arrived). A lot of times they will be able to get you the hard to get priority seatings, for example they got us CRT when there was nothing to be found when I called.
You also have access to the concierge lounge where they have a continental breakfast in the am, light snacks in the afternoon, appetizers at dinner time and dessert in the evening. They also offer beer and wine in the evenings, and soda, coffee, water and juices throughout the day. There is lots of info on the boards about the concierge service. We have four kids, one that is 18 months, and the concierge lounge made it so much easier for us. DH could take the rest of the kids to the lounge while I put the baby down for a nap, or in the morning while I got everyone dressed, he would bring them down to get something to eat. The Poly concierge lounge is an excellant place to watch the MK fireworks from, very relaxing.
