Three adults in a one bedroom= overkill??

DH and I stayed in a one-bedroom and studio at BWV with my Mom and we much preferred the one bedroom. The studio was do-able, but she is a very early riser and had to worry about waking us before we were ready to get up at 7 or so. With the one bedroom, she stayed on the sleeper (which she said was plenty comfy) and could get up, watch tv, make tea, etc. without disturbing us in the bedroom. If we were on a really tight budget, I'd do the studio again because it's better for us than two rooms at a value (location trumps most everything), but otherwise I think a 1+ bedroom is much more ideal.

Three adults in a studio really is not acceptable. I would think it would be extremely awkward. Definitely get the one bedroom. I think you'll all have a much more enjoyable vacation.

Not at all. I also think it depends on who is going. Last year, my adult DD and DS and I stayed in a 1BR at VWL. DS slept on the couch and DD and myself shared the king bed. All was well. This Oct. my adult DDs and myself will be in a studio at BWV. One DD and myself in the queen and other DD on the sleeper sofa. Since we're all "girls", the studio works fine. In Jan. DH and I will enjoy a 1BR at OKW just the two of us. If one of the "kids" wants to go I guess they COULD. But we will enjoy rattling around in all that lovely square footage, just us. :thumbsup2

This is my dielmma..although at this point, there is no way we would be able to get a 2 BR at BWV, and I REALLY don't want to give up our room there....
Right now we are staying at the VWL- in a 1 BR for the first four nights, then a studio at BWV...I am feeling not that great about having my dad sleepng on the sofa bed....Yet, I really don't want to sleep on it either...and DH bless his heart, said to give my Dad the bed and he could care less, BUT this is supposed to be a vacation for us too!! :confused3

I should have just booked a 2 BR from the start.....

Don't open the bed, just sleep on the couch. I have done that MANY times since hubby is a snorer. The couch is fairly comfortable if you just cover it with sheets, use a few pillow and cover up. I'm not too tall (5'4), so it's plenty comfortable for me.

I'm going to WDW next year with my sister and friend. We are sharing a studio (shared one for a night at VGC this year).

We are doing studios at AKV, BCV, and BLT. Hopefully it will be great! :-)

Our rule ... every couple/adult needs their own space. For just the two of us it's always a 1 bedroom ... when we bring guests it's always a 2 bedroom..if more than one family joining us we go with the grand villa. or 2 bedroom with additional studios.

Never tried the sofa bed, so can't comment on comfort.

I find the studios a bit tight if you have more than 2 people in them.

To each their own ;)
When it is just DH & I , we prefer the studios.....

Yes, us too. We prefer to save the points for the bigger family vacation. We booked a studio for the 2 of us in December.

I wouldn't hesitate to have my Dad sleep on the pullout bed.... they are very comfortable , with better support than a traditional sofabed. I guess it depends on his physical condition though.

A couple years ago I booked a studio at BLT for my elderly parents (who were CR addicts, thanks to us) and myself. What a mistake! I think the size/layout also contributed to the fact that it was a studio.

Then last year I had booked a one-bedroom at BWV for this past January. The original intent was the same "group" until my dad wasn't well enough to go (and ultimately passed away). I was the one that was going to sleep on the sofabed, which is fine with me. Then the group of people changed to my husband and me, plus my mom. Mom slept on the sleeper, and didn't mind. In fact, she said it was quite comfy. It gave my husband and I the privacy of the bedroom. And that avoids the "too much information" situations.

OTOH, I am the early riser of the crowd. We don't have nearly enough points to book a two-bedroom, plus do family trips every couple years. It would be nice to have a 2nd bedroom for Mom, but the one-bedroom worked out great! I'm with the others...not EVER doing a studio for 3 adults again!

Kathy, my daughter is a freshman this year at Muhlenberg..we love the school! :goodvibes and the surrounding area. She's a bit homesick (its a 4 hr. drive from us) but she will be fine.

to everyone who suggested booking 2 studios, what are the chances that they are next door or very close to each other? I really like the idea. We own at BLT and would love to hear if anyone's done this.

It would be a request and not guaranteed. But it might be possible for them to be close, but probably not right next to each other.

ONe month from today (Yay!!) my dh and I are heading to WDW with another couple. I booked us each a standard studio. When I called MS the other day, to add dining, they had to mess around with our reservations. But, the MS CM did tell me that she had noted that we are traveling together so we should get studios that are closer, rather than further away, to each other.
When I got the email from MS with the dining noted, it also said that we had a grand gathering..said it on each sheet.

So....after we leave BWV and our own studios, we are headed over to Kidani. I booked a one bedroom savannah view. Why?? I figured that they had the sleep sofa, the sleep chair and their own bathroom. That it would work out just fine to do it that way vs two studios again....but it's just for two nights, then we head home. There is no way I would do it without that second bathroom though....you do need some privacy!!

I've gotten a one-bedroom for one person before. It all depends on what you want (in my case, the 1BR was all that was available - otherwise I would have conserved the points)

Small world! (You probably figured out I went there.:lmao:) My BIL went there...my niece went there...my FIL worked there..good school! AND...because of all that, that's how I met my DH. :cloud9: I wish your daughter well!

Thoughts?
Currently in a BWV studio, it will be myself, DH & Dad...waitlisted for a one BR...thinking it will be more comfortable...Is it overkill to get the one BR for three people?

If your ticker is correct -29 days till Food and Wine - it's probably a moot point.

You are lucky to have the studio!

We book studios and one bedrooms for just us two. I need a bed. I didn't always need an actual bed but now that I'm older, it's much more important to me. The sleeper keeps me awake at night - I slept on it for a few nights in a one bedroom when I had friends stay with us a couple of years back. Never again.

Your father may not complain, but he will probably not rest well.

OP, while a one bedroom I think would be nicer a studio would honestly work as long as everybody has the right attitude about it. :)

My hubby is military, a studio with 3 people would be a luxury compared to accommodations he gets when on duty. :rotfl2::rotfl2: Yes these are apples vs oranges but I am just trying to make a point that a studio is not the end of the world and most definitely can be done!

I had people telling me we were insane having 7 people in a 2BR when in fact we had way more than enough room for how we travel.

I will be at BCV next month for Food and Wine.
Ialways reserve a one bedroom...

And I travel alone! :)

:) DH and I get a studio and his Mom and my parents get the other one. I figure we will get a one bedroom soon and if they come along we will stay on the sleeper sofa. My feeling is that we will be able to sleep in the king another year.
