Has anyone given any thought to what you are going to do for the holiday weekend? We will be just hanging around the house.

Kim

We will be at home too.

We've invited DB and the kids to swim Saturday.

Sunday, we are swimmin' and then we are having a "London Broil" with another family and their kids- this where everyone brings meat for their family and a side. We will crank up the grill and have the drinks-watch out DH's wine cellar!
You'd be amazed how many people drop in when they smell the BBQ cranked up.:rotfl:
Monday we are going the the Veteran's Memorial Cemetary (Dad, Brother and Grandfather are buried there)

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Weekend

Happy Birthday!!! Do you guys have something special planned?

Thank you.
We had a big party last Saturday for him. He had a blast. I showed him the pictures so he would remember it.

Hello!

Just thought I'd stop by while the boring part of AI is on. Why can't they just get on with it and tell us who won!

The recipes sound really yummy. I am such a boring cook. We have the same thing every week. Monday is freezer night (as in stuff from the freezer), Tuesday is chicken or pork night, Wednesday is pasta night (chop seuy or spaghetti w/meatballs or alfredo), Thursday is whatever we can find in the cupboards night and Friday, Saturday, Sunday are eat out/cupboard/ or sometimes I plan a big meal on Sunday. See what I mean. BORING! I would love some crockpot recipes. The less mess and time I have to spend on it the better.

It is finally suppose to warm up here this weekend! :woohoo: The weather man is showing upper 70s on Sunday and lower 80s for Monday. I so hope he is right about this.

I allready mentioned that I would be doing some planting this weekend but what I didn't mention was that my in-laws are taking my DS10 and DS7 fishing the entire weekend at a cottage they are renting near Lake Champlain! No kids!

I love love LOVE Hell's Kitchen!!! I have not watched it yet this week. I have it on TIVO, but DH is taking a nap (he needs to get good and rested to go to sleep later I guess. ) We will watch it when he wakes up though. Last weeks show rocked!.

This is the first season that I am watching it. I remember seeing it advertised before and thinking what a giant you know what he is! It wasn't until I started watching Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares on the BBC that I started liking him. It's hard to believe that he actually has a softer side to him. The other thing is I couldn't believe how much they swear on the BBC. My jaw just about hit the floor when they didn't bleep many of the the words that they normally do.

Greetings from the St. Barnabas Hilton! (also known as St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ) Yup, I'm here for at least 48 hours with DD. Quite unexpected. I talked to her neuro today about her strange behavior lately (remember the Sierra story? Seems it was all in her head!)and the doc thinks it may be seizure related (DD has epilepsy). So we are here so she can be monitored around the clock for 48 hours (or more). Ugh. So NOT how I had planned to spend this week! Had to scramble to cancel about 8 appointments, kids activities, etc, and get the ex lined up to pick up Danny and keep him for the 2-3 days. Oh, and get the lady from doggie camp to come pick up the doggie for a few days. Ay yi yi...

So, dinner tonite was, gasp!, hospital food! Actually not too bad. I went down to the cafeteria and came back with some yummy tomato soup, a salad with grilled chicken with raspberry viniagrette dressing (yum), and a sweet potato. Worked out fine. I brought some things from home so I would be sure to have the stuff I needed.

Crock pot recipes--my fave!! Hmmm, off the top of my head, the only one I can think of is Tortilla Soup, which I think I posted here before. All the rest are at home in my recipe box, but I'll gladly share them when we get home if anyone is interested. I LOOOOOVE my crock pot!!

Well, I'm off to make up my "bed"--one of those horrid chair thingys that pulls out and resembles a poor excuse for a bed that is about as comfortable as sleeping on a folding chair.

Later.

Hi guys, just checking in real quick. I've been:sick: and in addition it has been one thing after another to do or attend. DN's wedding is this weekend, the one that her and the bridemaids are getting ready here. So after suffering with this sinus thing for a week I gave in and called my doc. Hopefully he will have me better in the next 24-48 hrs.
I have so much to catch up on including the last few pages of the original thread and now we are on page 20 of this one:scared1:.
Hoping after this week end things will slow down and I can catch up.
Just wanted to pop so you know I'm around and miss you guys!!!!!
Whgrn, did see your post on this page, to you and your DD, hope they figure things out.
Gotta go, talk to you all soon:love:

Morning all. I haven't been able to check till today because I've been very sick. Thought I was getting better but ended up at the hospital on Tues night with a ruptured eardrum. I'm on antibiotics now and making a slow recovery. Just wanted to let you all know that I am still around.

whgrn- to you and DD. Please keep us updated.

Way too many things to comment on right now. I'll try to check in later.

whgrn:grouphug: for you and your DD!
racetrack18kbhope you feel better soon!
disney54us  Hope you feel better soon. Wedding won't be as fun if you're not feeling well.

All those recipes sound good. :goodvibes
We stay home on official 3 day holidays...it's safer. My DH has 3 day weekends every other week so we travel then.

Ok, all of you w/ your clever smilies... I need one for my busy bee threadkillers! I go away for 2 days and it takes my whole lunch break to barely catch up. I skipped a lot I wanted to comment on b/c I knew I wouldn't have time... hopefully I'll get thru this multi before I have to go back to work.

Don't you love it? FOOD PORN. People post entire reports on what they ate on vacation, complete with yummy pictures! Stimulating pictures of yummy meals. Food porn. I'm salivating at the moment. That's why I'm so depressed. There's so much good food out there, if I only were inspired and ambitious, I too could enjoy lovely meals.

Food porn is my new word. That and....

INFANTICIPATION! Isn't that great? I read it in one of my Filipino magazines. Instead of the traditional "I'm pregnant!" stories, they announce "we're infanticipating!"

I realized today that I should be so thankful for free dining, that wherever I eat I sould be grateful. No more changing ADRs for me!

My dad is huge crock pot fan. Mostly stews. I have yet to figure it out.

This is funny, a gf of mine is getting married and asked if I would help cook rice for the reception. I told her that I use a rice cooker, so really, all cooking that I would do would just be pressing a button! :rotfl2:

:rotfl: :lmao:  :rotfl: :lmao:  I just couldn't pass this up. MK, you're too funny.

Hey everyone. Just stopping by to say hi!!

Oh, did anyone see the explanation thread? Someone should tell Dreamin' that she should send an email.

Nope. What is this? Could you post a link... I've not been able to wander around the site as much as usual.

We will be at home too.

Monday we are going the the Veteran's Memorial Cemetary (Dad, Brother and Grandfather are buried there)

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Weekend

Thanks for reminding us what the holiday is really about. Celebration... yes, Family... most definitely, food and wine and friends... yes, yes, yes. But also, Rememberance and Thanks for those who have given so much.

Oh so sorry. for you and DD. I hope you and the docs get it all figured out.
You do an amazing job of keeping your spirits up! We could probably all follow your example in tough times.

Ruptured Ear Drum!!! Ack!!! I hope you are feeling better.

Well, I'm down to the wire... gotta finish my last few bites of lunch and head out.

I'll try to get back later w/ some recipe ideas. I could definitely use an exchange too... I'm also bored.

It sounds like a few people are sick (me included) or knows someone who is sick. I didn't want to multi quote everyone, so I will just say to everyone:

Get well soon!!

Kim

Don't you all know it's spring and you are not supposed to be sick?

Pepper: I've been in tough with Dreamin and she had emailed them 3 weeks ago and never heard anything from them. She saw the explaination thread and was not impressed with it. Did you find it? It's at the top of the community board---a sticky. I thought it really did not explain much but then I really did not read the post that was the final straw. I've read others since that disappeared. I could not find any threads about the explaination but I am sure there were some that are no longer there. I'm not sure Dreamin would even come back if she were allowed. She's very disillusioned--as you can imagine. I hope she does try to email them again and get her name cleared even if she does not rejoin. I know she knows we support her and know she's a very caring person. If anyone wants to email me (not pm-they are not private) with a message for Dreamin, I'll pass it on. Just put sonmething in subject line so I will open it because it'll go to my spam folder.

Oh goodness, what a terrible morning it has been everyone!

whgrn...I'm praying for you and your family these next few days. I'm sorry that you're cooped up at the "Hilton" but if in the end you're somehow able to help your DD it'll be all worth it, scary sleeping arrangements and all.

My friends! Please take the time to take care of yourselves! It seems that everyone is beyond sicky-sicky---you're seriously sicky sicky! Take care and rest. Get better soon!

Yeah, what explanation thread? Now my curiousity is piqued....

Please everyone be safe this weekend. Take the time to enjoy the simple freedoms of life and appreciate those who have and still are protecting them. My own sailor boys thankfully have all returned safe from their tours and will have a barbecue to celebrate the holiday. Thanks to everyone who have loved ones who have served.

:grouphug: Everyone. Feel better. Planning on lasagne tonight!

Wait a minute...how did I forget? My honey, David Cook, won AI last night! I know some people gave up on him after Tuesday's performance, but he rose to the occassion and he's the newest American Idol! Yeah!

I really felt my age when I did some research and found out that he's 25...a little too young for me. But if he'll have me, I'm his! (I've already run this by bf). BF is from Kansas City, so it must be something about those Midwestern boys that I like!
