Yeah, I agree Tony is a Chevy guy. I don't think he liked the switch to Toyota at all. As I was looking through the driver chart, I saw there was a ? next to Bowyer's name for next year. I was surprised by that. I figured RCR would have his contract all wrapped up. We have 2 Rusty Wallace tires but they're not signed. :( DH wanted to buy more to make a table with them but it looks like that won't happen since the teams don't keep the tires anymore.

I really wanted to share this guy...he's so cute.

I'm glad everyone noticed that I am "East Coast Deprived" I guess our camping and business trips (taken before we had kids) have only taken us West.
We are seriously considering a trip to PA next summer if we can do it cost effectively. Any good campgrounds in PA??? Somewhere near the Liberty Bell, Sesame Place or Hershey Park. I know that's all over the state, but what the heck - one night here and one night there.

My DH and I will be married 16 yrs tomorrow!!!! We would love to take an alone vacation (weekend) to NY some day. That's going to be a bit more costly, so I guess we'll wait for our 20th anniversary - unless someone has an extra room????;) Whgrn - We could try to squeeze in Jersey too. I'll bring my DS and he can raise cane w/ your DS. :hyper: :hyper: Can you imagine that?

Swim lessons are done for another year. :( Moving on to level 2. :woohoo: We'll be practicing at the lake a lot this summer now that the weather has warmed up.

Don't get me started on crazy relatives & family. :rolleyes2 I think mine wrote the book and my sis is the author.

Magikitty - I love Chicago (the band not the city). Chicago 17 was the first album I bought. Have a great time at the concert.

Blueberries sound sooooo yummy! Hope to do a little strawberry picking here, this weekend and freeze a bunch for sundaes in the winter. :lovestruc I love fresh produce. This is my favorite eating time of year.

Joke I got today: Man tells buddy: When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her out to some place expensive................... So I took her to a gas station.

There's a small campgrounds near Hershey. I'll ask around.

If I cannot get on tonight, try and behave.

I'm waiting for call from my aunt.

I was watching the evening news tonight and had the most brilliant idea! As you Nascar fans already know there is a race in NH this weekend. Well, the local news was covering the fact that race fans were lining up to meet their favorite drivers. They showed a massive line at Home Depot where a family that was first in line to meet Tony Stewart had been there since 1:30am! Well, I was saying to my hubby that there was no way I would stay in line that long and what they needed was to have fast passes. Then I thought, Hey! They have Super Soap Weekend at Disney they should have Nascar Weekend there. One big weekend where race fans can come down and enjoy Disney and get to meet their favorite drivers. They could have special Q & A sessions and maybe a special dinner you buy tickets for, etc. What do you think?

Now that is the best idea I have heard in years. We would be there every year for that. And I honestly think they could set it up much like Super Soap Weekend. But could we add a parade with their cars too? Please, please? Sooo, when are you emailing Disney with your idea?

Btw, DD12 and I waited 8 hours in the hot sun to meet Tony. What you don't do for your kids. But I don't think I would have wait from 1:30 in the morning. That's just insane.

Good idea about the parade! What else could they do?

When we went to Disney in Dec 2006 my husband spotted Ray Evertham(sp), the use to be crew chief for Jeff G (I'm sure he's done other stuff but that is what I remember him best for doing), there with his son. He followed him onto the Rock n Rollercoaster. He actually talked with him in line for a little bit.

I don't know what else they could do. If they just do the parade, autographs, and a Q & A session, that would be plenty. Include some retired drivers and it would be plenty.

That's cool about Evernham. He's got his own 3 car team now. I've read on here that Bobby Labonte has been seen in Disney quite a few times. Just strolling around with his family and nobody bothering them. I bet it's a nice change for them when it happens.

The race is in NH like you said. Have you ever been to one?

Once back in 1993. It was so hot! Talk about drunk people and loud (We camped out down there). That was my first and only Nascar race that I have been to. We had the headsets and radios to listen to the drivers. That was fun! DH has been to a few. Bristol, Daytona(many times) and Pocono. His folks had tickets every year to Daytona and used to camp out in the parking lot down there. Things sure have changed.

Well heck, if you're gonna be in PA, NJ is not much farther!! And Happy Anniversary to you and DH!!

Had a crazy day. I started out by taking my 2 kids to 2 different camps 20 minutes apart. (Hmmm, no wonder my gas light just went on...) Then to the gym for an hour on the elliptical. I ramped it up to 6, with a resistance of 5, and then 6. Got a bit of a workout with that!!

Then I stopped at Michaels and AC Moore for more fake flowers to fill in the empty spots on my hanging baskets. Then up to get DD from her camp at noon. On the way home we stopped at Drug Fair for a planter, and i found beautiful cushions for my patio furniture. I've been searching for months for something I liked. Problem was, they only had 2, and I needed 6. So I called the other Drug Fair near me, and they had 3. OK, still need one. I called my friend in Hamilton, and he went to Cost Cutters (same company as DF) and they had them there. So he got me 3. I went and picked up my 3, and one for the chaise lounge, and tonite I went and got the other 2, because I want them for both sets of chairs--10 total--so I'll need to go to Cost Cutters tomorrow and get 3 more! But they were on sale, and the ones I'm replacing are 8 years old and YUCKY!!

Anyway, the dryer repairman came this afternoon, and the landscaper to give me a price on the rest of the work, and I had to go get DS from HIS camp at 3:30. In between I worked on my fake plants, whcih look quite nice. Then, I finally sat down at my computer. Had to make a couple of phone calls. One was to the cruise line to see what's up with our cruise (we leave July 3, one week from today!)

 :( :furious: Waaaaaahhh!!! The nice lady says, Oh, yes, we called and left you a message, and sent you an email (well, no message on cell or home phone, no email, and the same is true for the rest of my family--NO ONE got any message or email!) In any event, they have TOTALLY changed our trip! We were supposed to fly to St. Louis July 3, spend 2 days there, cruise St. Louis to St. Paul, spend 2 days in St. Paul at the Mall of America. Then a train to Chicago, 2 days in Chicago, and fly home from there. WRONG!!!!!! We are now cruising round trip from Cincinnati, OH. Stopping in places I've never even heard of--Maysville OH, Pt. Pleasant, WV, Marietta, OH, Louisville, KY (OK, I HAVE heard of Lousiville!), Madison, IN, and back to Cincinnati. Nothing to do with Tom Sawyer, which I made DS read. Nothing to do with all the research we've done on the places we were going. No fireworks at the St. Louis arch. No Mall of America, no train to Chicago, no Sears Tower for DS to see.

So we are scrambling to get plane tickets (at triple the price since it's only a week in advance) to Cincinnati, and our trip has been shortened from 14 days to 8. NO time with my DSis and her family (they were meeting us in St. Paul). DMom doesn't even want to go anymore, but it's past the point for refunds. I am just bummed.

So now we are trying to figure out what to do for about 4 days that we can all be together and just relax. I suggested day trips from here, but no one liked that idea. DDad wants to do Martha's Vineyard or something like that, but I doubt we'd get anything decent at the last minute.

Anyone have any ideas? Something within driving distance from NJ would probably be the best, so we wouldn't have to fly again.

I'm just so FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!!!!

Pikester-We've only been to Pocono and Dover. 2 totally different crowds between those 2 tracks. Pocono had alot of loud, obnoxious drunks. Seemed like more people were there to drink than to watch the race. I love Dover. It was just different there compared to Pocono. There were still people drinking and being loud but it was different. Still want to get to Daytona. Maybe I'll have to plan one of our Disney trips around that time.

whgrn-Oh man, that really stinks. I can't believe they waited this long to let you know. What dates exactly do you have open now? I can check out the local papers around here and see if there's anything going on that might be interesting.

Wow! You were you busy today.

Go ahead and do some quick research on Martha's Vineyard. You never know, the way people are trying to save money maybe there have been some cancellations somewhere.

I am so sorry about your cruise! Maybe once you research those new places there will be something exciting there to see. Thinking good thoughts for you.

The very first time my DH ever went to Disney it was because they were in Daytona for the race. At the time, there was only Magic Kingdom.

Disney and Daytona. Not a bad deal on that one. :lmao: If I could go to any race though, it would have to be Bristol. It's not too far from here so maybe one day.

I gotta get in the Disney NASCAR thing. A Magical evening with Jr! I was thinking like a special dinner in the castle but thoughts went right to night in the castle and I laughed out loud! I figured I had better think of something else! :rotfl2: I remember sometime in the past, Disney had characters on some of the cars at Daytona. Can't remember why. They could easily do something special together.
I told Ractrack they should go to the Daytona USA place. It was fun to go out in the infield and see how big it is. The IMAX movie was good too.
And it's Bristol, baby!!! I can't think who says that. That would be my place to go too.
Whgrn: Is it because of the flooding? Do you get money back since it's changed? Come to Lancaster County. Amish, outlets, Strasburg train and a place that has model trains set up, Hershey Park, Chocolate World, antique auto museum. There's Indian Echo Caverns nearby (haven't been there since elem school but I know it's still there ;) )About 45 min away is Herr's Potato chip factory. It sounds like we should visit you and sit on your new cushions. :cool1:

Well, now we're looking at Ocean City, NJ from July 13-16. Not all that exciting, but they DO have miniature golf! (that's a family vacation tradition--mini golf and ice cream!) It might just work, and, amazingly, a really nice hotel right on the beach has rooms available!

I'm tired. But too razzed up to sleep! :hyper:

Yup, Mother Nature scr*wed us on this one!! No money back, they're free to change the itinerary. Lancaster County is another good idea. I'll have to run it up the flagpole...
