D&D - i was thinking the same thing as magikitty - i've been wearing glasses since 7th grade, and i've never broken any. i guess there's a pretty big difference between boys and girls (among others! :rotfl: ). i did manage to lose them for a while now and then, when i first started using a purse. did anyone else go through that? i'd been in another class and realize i left my bag on my chair.

i forgot to mention, once my husband's family's dog ATE my glasses - maybe that counts. he was a little crazy that dog, so i don't blame myself for that!

have a great time at the wedding, lighttech! what a nice treat to go out as grownups! have fun!

by the way, i saw that clay aiken was on qvc - did you do the lighting? i told my husband "my friend works at qvc." and i didn't even have to say "you know, my disboard friend." he knew what i was talking about!

so here's to you all, no longer my pretend friends!!

Hi all

Just got back from my aunt's funeral. It was beautiful. I am SO glad i went! The service was really nice, her priest did such a nice job. The cemetary was beautiful, up on a hill, so peaceful. Her father is buried about 100 feet above where she is, and her mom will be next to her father when she dies (she's now 91) So mom and dad looking down over her, kind of nice.

Then we went out to eat at a place that they like--the food was excellent! I had pasta for the first time in months and it was awesome! Really nice to see everyone, talking about fun times, etc. There was a collage of photos of my aunt, and it was so nice to remember her the way she was then instead of how she looked when I saw her Tuesday.

Got to talking with my folks about what they want when it's their time. Mom thought the whole thing was perfect, so that's how we'll go for her. Dad says it's all good, just leave out "the preacher" and he'll be fine with that. Well, now I know, so that makes my job alot easier when the time comes.

I was very good and really took it easy all day. I feel fine, just tired. So I will sit in my chair the rest of today, and all day tomorrow, to make up for the activity of today. Hopefully when I see the doctor Monday everything will look good and I'll get a bit more freedom. I'm just so very grateful that I was able to go today.

CYaLater!

Hey all! I am still here and trying to post everyday. I took my Mom out for lunch and some shopping today in honor of Mother's Day. I will not be available on the Offical Mother's Day so I decided to celebrate a week early. I always feel so cheap because my Mom hardly eats anything! She'll have a half a salad at Applebees or soup and a drink. WOW! It cost me a whole $10. (Said with sarcasm.)

whgrn-I'm glad you were able to attend your Aunt's funeral since that was what you really wanted to do. It sounds like it went really well.

DL55-I'm still hanging around. As I mentioned above; I've been trying to post everyday so that everyone can "see" me. ;)

MagiKitty- :wave2:

disney54us-I haven't been scared away, yet. Unless you "killers" morph into some sort of scary, Disney loving loons who can only think about the next trip to ..... Wait, where am I? :rolleyes1
TTFN!:tigger:

The glasses are fixed. Thank God there is a 1 yr warranty on them. The optician was surprized that they broke so soon but said I can bring them back as many times as I need to in the year. She's going to be sorry she said that. She doesn't know my Nick.

Whgrn - Bomb scare...WOW!!!:scared1: Glad you were out of there. Glad too that you could make it to the funeral.

Pikester - I know what you mean about Mother's Day. I never know what to do for my mom. Usually get her a hanging basket of flowers. Not sure what I'll do this year.

Bopsmom - I've been watching the baseball game (Brewers and Houston). My all time favorite player is now your coach - Cecil Cooper. I was soooo into baseball when I was younger. A regular tomboy. Anyway, it was good to see him coaching now after Trebelhorn (sp?) left. He's looking so old. I wish I was there.

lighttech - Hope you enjoyed the wedding. :bride:

Still working on finding a patio set under $500 that looks nice. Sure isn't easy.

had to catch up before i went to bed. see you all in the morning!
sleep well!

night night, dreamin.

Morning everyone....I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who has a hard time with Mother's Day stuff. I think its hard because Moms mean so much to us, and we want to get that perfect gift, that perfect way to say thanks and "I love you THIS much!". My Mom does not care for cut flowers, she's better with plants, but after years of giving plants, I want something a little more personal. I'm on the acive search. In recent holidays, I've given her personalized gifts with pictures of the family. I just got a "its not too late!" email from Kodak, I think I may make a keepsake box with a recent picture of Mom and Dad on it. We'll see if its actually not too late.

whgrn...I'm glad that you managed to get to your Aunt's funeral (although it was risky so soon after surgery!). Now you just relax and let yourself heal!

Yeah! Glasses fixed...what a great warranty! I bet they don't think people will actually remember they have that policy. I hope you don't have to use it too much! But if you do, let it be in the first year!

lighttech, how was the wedding? Hope you and your hubby had a good time!

magsnden...I am thoroughly impressed by the dog-eaten glasses. I made sure to have at least two pairs throughout my pre-LASIK life. Which is weird coz now that I don't wear glasses, all I do is wear sunglasses. Traded one for the other.

I've fallen to third place in my fantasy baseball league, another one of my guys got sent to the minors. I'm only .5 behind, so I'm looking to move up later this week. Looking to catch up on reading and laundry sometime today. Still have to squeeze in Lost and Gray's Anatomy somewhere. Have a good day everyone!

Morning all I will play catch up later but wanted to check in and say hi, i need more coffee:surfweb:.

:lmao: But she will soon, won't she?!?! Glad you have that warranty--sounds like it's gonna come in handy!!!

I slept like a baby last night--got up at 9 today feeling rested. Now I'm parked in my recliner where I will spend the day like a good little patient. i can't wait to see the doctor tomorrow and see how it all looks. I'll just be glad to get this thing unwrapped from around my middle so I can scratch all the itchy skin underneath!!

Has anybody seen Spring? It seems to be missing around these parts. It LOOKS like Spring--trees budding, green, green grass, flowers poiking their heads up, pink and white blossoms on the cherry and dogwood trees. But it still feels suspiciously like Winter, my least favorite season. It's cold and dreary. I never know how to dress my kids for school!! DD is in a hurry to wear shorts, but she'll freeze if she wears them at this point. I think I'm ready to skip right to Summer. I want it to be WARM!!!!!

Later killers...

Just taking a quick break from cleaning. I've only read the most current page, but at least I've gota small clue now! :) DHs Aunt is coming to stay with us for a few days on Thursday night, so I'm in a rush to clean out the back bedroom which has been storage for 4 years now! :scared1: (I've been working on it anyway b/c it will be DSs big boy room when the baby comes, but I really need to buckle down today.) Of course, DH decided he has other things he needs to do today, so he's no where to be found... We actually had quite a discussion about it the other night, I wish men could be pregnant just for a week or so so they would know how exhausting it is. I reminded him that this is HIS aunt that's coming, so hopefully he'll be pitching in a little more after his day off!

Of course, while cleaning, I realized that a few mice must have moved in while we weren't looking (we live in the woods, so its to be expected.) But, now, as I'm moving everything out, I have to clean it all... YUCK! And the floor will need to be seriously scrubbed as well.

Luckily, DS is being an  today and playing all by himself while I clean up. (Well, by himself relatively speaking for a 3 yr old!) :rotfl: ) Anyway, considering how much I love cleaning (sarcastic) just trying to keep a smile on my face and keep my sense of humor... that's why I stopped by here!

Wedding was nice but a little odd... more details later. But, good food and a night out w/ DH which we really needed.

No, I didn't do the Clay Aiken show, that was our other LD (there's 2 of us who alternate back end and front end of the week.) Actually, I didn't even see it! I tend to keep the tv off of QVC when I'm not at work unless I need to check on something (or go shopping.)

Glad you got to experience some closure and have family to talk to about the memories and the happy times. It really can be healing.

And, speaking of healing, I'm glad you seem to be feeling well too.

OK, gotta get going and back to work. Thanks for the break!

Hi everyone
The weather here is pretty good except for the winds that push the wildfires. We are way below normal for rainfall so the forests are closed to everyone. No camping. :sad1:
whgrn I'm glad to hear you were able to go the funeral. Now you can heal faster without having guilt if you were not able to go.
My mom doesn't need knickknacks so I usually send flowers. This year I'm sending something edible. It has fruit and some candy. (good and bad for her  )

Hey everyone. Just checking in. We have been quiet lately. I guess everyone is out enjoying this glorious weekend! Yesterday I spend the whole day yard sale hopping with DH. Today....well I have pretty much sat on my butt. :rotfl: I am off to the planning boards.

WHGN, so glad you got to go to the funeral. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

No glorious weekend here! Still really cold and overcast. But it is the weekend...this weather just justifies my couch surfing!

Spring? What's that?

oooh the sun FINALLY came out! yaayyy!

not much going on today. DH is away until tomorrow night so me and the kids are just hangin out.

by the way, lighttech - that floor scrubbing sounds like a perfect job for your DH, you know, after his day off! you shouldn't be breathing in all those chemicals - plus you're doing all the other hard work!

Hey, it's sunny!! It warmed up nicely. Not the 74 they were calling for, but well up into the 60s. And sunny!!

I have NO clue for Mom for Mothers Day. Flowers are lame (to her), and she needs absolutely NOTHING. I told my kids "you can never go wrong with a Talbots gift card!" Hmm, now that I think of it, that could work for DMom too! Since DSis and I are taking her to Talbots in June to shop for Scotland, she could put it to good use.

My ex always insists on getting me Godiva chocolate from the kids. For years. I HATE Godiva. The kids finally convinced him that I would only throw it in the garbage, so why bother? When they said I like Hersheys, he said it was junk and wouldn't buy it. Fine with me. I shouldn't be eating chocolate anyway!

The bigger issue is BFFs birthday on Wednesday. She is impossible to shop for. I've been using the old standby of gift cards to Avenue for so long--she really does need a new wardrobe! But I gotta come up with a better idea. I suggested a dye job (her grey is really showing) but she says she's not ready for that yet. I offered a mammogram-she won't even go to the doctor to get it ordered. She's talking about quitting smoking. I offered to buy the Chantix that insurance won't pay for. but that would mean she'd have to go to the doctor, and she won't go. I'm out of ideas!

Good Morning!:goodvibes I can't believe that no one has posted since yesterday! Today looks to be a beautiful day here in NH. Sunny with temps in the low 70s!:cool1:

Morning Pikester! I'm here...just playing catch up on the restaurant board. I have all my ADRs set for my trip in September, but I keep debating whether to change them, add new ones and pay OOP, or what to do. I'm slowly driving myself crazy (and taking BF with me!)

How was everyone's weekend? Happy Cinco de Mayo~(mmm...Mexican food)

Is it really going to be 70s there? We're only planned for mid-60s, but that's okay with me!

whgrn, how are you doing today? I say for BFF's birthday, find a way to spend some girl time together. Can you arrange to have a mani-pedi party at your house? I know you're not supposed to move too much. Or else, just order food in and have a girls night! I find as we get older, there really isn't a lot of time to just sit and really talk, and I miss that time with my own girlfriends.

Oh yeah! MagiKitty takes over the number two spot in her fantasy baseball league! I am triumphant!

Hi everyone :wave2:
Glad to hear temperatures are warming up. :cool2:
Later today I plan to post my trip report. It took me awhile as it brought back memories of school reports.

I guess I was dreaming when I watched the weather this morning because the 12:00p weather forecast shows mid to upper 60s for NH. Oh well, maybe 70s tomorrow. :bounce:

OMG you all are NOT gonna believe what I just saw on the news!!!! The hospital where I was until 11 am today had a BOMB SCARE and evacuation at 11:30 am today!! Just 30 minutes after I left!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
I am SOOOO glad I'm home!!

We're soooo glad you are home too. You had all the TKers behind you with that extra pixiedust: .

As usual, haven't caught up, but I'm checking in for my mandatory... still here, still alive post.

:cheer2:

I've had glasses since around 1960! I seem to be having more problems now than when I was younger. :lmao:
Glad we're 'real' now. :rotfl: I missed Clay.

I think as parents get older, it does get harder to get them something. My mom said to just take her out to eat. We're going to the M/D banquet at church Sat pm and then on Sunday after church with friends.

Hershey's---junk!
You had some wonderful ideas for BFF's bday. You hate doing the guilt trip on someone for their bday but it sounds like the mammo and Chantix could both be lifechanging.

Hi everyone :wave2:
Glad to hear temperatures are warming up. :cool2:
Later today I plan to post my trip report. It took me awhile as it brought back memories of school reports.

Don't forget to give us the link to the report.

As I quickly said Friday, I got back in the groove and got to teach at my school for the librarian. I was volunteering and she had a family emergency. I did enjoy it but not enough to regret retiring. Now I have lost of things to do to get paid. I probably won't make anything from it because I have to get 3 clearances and a TB test to get activated in the system. The school district has a service that gets the subs. I was at their office about an hour and now have to go to their web site to fill out forms for the FBI, state and some other clearance. I have to go get fingerprinted too! All this for $85 before anything is taken out!

Racetrack18kb You can still post here but I just have to make it known that I'm just a little upset over the race Sat. Your guy knocked my Jr out. I'm trying to rise above the situation and be as gracious as Jr was about it. I am trying not to be like 18 and never admit he could have been just a little wrong. I know the guys after the race were backing 18 and said he couldn't help it but those (Spence and Kenny) on Victory Lane were not. I did like what Jr said about having to get in line to have ot out with Kyle. (You know I kid because I care!)
