Good morning killers!

I hope everyone is on the road to recovery and good weather. Are ya'll still getting snow? We're having a beautiful day. sunny and 72 deg today.

magikitty - I love that you dress for the Oscars!:thumbsup2 I never get to see grown-up movies any more, so the awards don't really mean anythin, but I like watching to see the beautiful gowns and handsome men.:groom:

Keep teaching tose kids to cook. I was 30 before I took an interest in cooking, but now I love it. DD loves to help me in the kitchen. I just got a new slow cooker and a food processor this weekend. Sale at Target. I'm addicted to the Food Network and cookbooks.

Have a great day everyone!

I only have time for a quick hello. Hope all the sickies are better.

Of course they will cater the meetings!:rotfl: And they will give you a great deal--you know, they have to "cater" to the stars!!:lmao:

:lmao: :rotfl2: that's one more thing off the checklist. :goodvibes

And in honor of "post a less-loved smilie", I have this to add. I must be going, my little motormouths :hyper2: are yelling for lunch.

Later

:wave2:
i've really missed a LOT!
hardly on here the whole weekend.

so real quick, i hope everyone's on the mend from all these sicknesses. dennis has finally had a normal poop. so sorry for that!!!

whgrn, it's great that the kids take cooking classes. i LOVE to cook and now my maggie loves it too. she's 3 so i give her whatever jobs are safe, but she loves to watch. and she gets all her stuff from her play kitchen and plays along.

the last movie i saw in the theatre was the veggie tales, the pirates who don't do anything. it wasn't nominated. but DH saw "there will be blood" and he loved it. he was happy daniel day lewis won. that guy is excellent.

i gotta go, but i'll definitely check in later.

Geez. You guys have been busy busy since the last time I was on. Not even watching the oscars tonight. I'm so out of touch w/ movies, it wouldn't be worth it. Sort of sad for someone who was a theatre major and is currently employed in the tv/entertainment industry. :sad2:

Good for you for raising a girl with some sense. You obviously did a great job teaching her the value of money. Its a tough thing to do these days. I hope I can do as well w/ DS.

BTW - Dreamin'... was it you that mentioned the Celtic Classic oh so many pages ago? I know it happens near you. We're actually thinking of going up for the Winter Classic next weekend.

Well, poor DS was really sick today. Fever and all, so he's safely tucked away in a tylenol induced slumber, and I'm exhausted, so I'm going to go off and find something non-nutritious and easy in the fridge to eat (DH is out, and I never manage to cook anything healthy when its just me. I normally eat w/ DS on nights that I'm home, but he just wasn't hungry. I managed to talk him into some juice and some applesauce w/ cinnamon, but that was it.)

Keep up the smiles everyone. And, good luck w/ the thread counts.. there's a lot of you getting so close!

Hope your DS is feeling better today. :flower3:

Gee, I'm starting to be relieved that DD is such a tomboy! She's perfectly happy with jeans and a T-shirt.

And yes, my kids do have cell phones (for emergencies only, and they are very responsible with them), iPods (GREAT for travel!), a Wii (Chirstmas gift from me this year, and I get to play it too!!!) and Nintendo DSs (also great for travel, altho Danny would play his 24/7 if I let him), but to be honest, they've acquired these over several years, and the Wii is their first ever game system. I try hard NOT to spoil them with "things". I would much rather splurge on vacations to cool places. How many 11 and 12 year olds can say they've been to Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, Disney, and Turkey (twice each) as well as an Alaska cruise, a cruise from Boston to Montreal (with July 4th fireworks on the Charles River), a Disney cruise, and a Mississippi riverboat cruise? Not to mention visiting lots of the states in the US (our goal is all 50!!). I think that's much more worthwihile than all the "stuff" some kids accumulate. JMHO...

I agree :thumbsup2 I am curious to see different places, don't understand people who live their entire lives in one small area and never explore. :confused3

:rotfl: You crack me up!

We are flying to London, taking the train to Edinburgh, and taking the Royal Scotsman (fancy train) all around the Highlands for a week. Then we will take a train from Edinburgh to Glasgow to Dumfries and spend 2 days down in the Dumfries/Annan area, where my ancestors came from. Then it's back to London via train and fly home. My dad is a HUGE train buff, which is why that is our preferred mode of transport. And the Royal Scotsman takes us to so many cool places with interesting activities that we'd never be able to do on a regular trip. I've waited 25 years to get a chance to go to Scotland, and I am SOOOOOOOO excited!!!
Oh, that sounds like so much fun :goodvibes DH wants to go back so he can golf. :rolleyes2

Free the full length gowns! :groom:

They're just taking up precious space anyway. Wear them at all inappropriate times and occasions. Its nice to remember what you look like outside of sweat pants. Last night I got reacquainted with my bustline...I was like, "hello again! Haven't seen you in weeks. How have you been?" :lmao:

Why is there a smoking smilie? (someone brought that up yesterday) He looks rather sinister...

::yes::

Hope everyone's children are feeling better today.
I used to watch the Food Channel but it just made me hungry. :upsidedow

I am so not getting much done today:confused3. Except being on the boards so I am going to try to do something maybe :laundy: before Drs. appt.

:yo-yo: Don't worry...I never seem to get anything done. And when I do, there's just more and more waiting to be done also. Vicious cycle.

Speaking of, it stills amazes me just how snarky people can be. My fave haunt, aside from here, is the Budget Board. Someone posted that tomorrow Dunkin Donuts is having 99 cent lattes in the afternoon, good to know, right?

A posted reply is that "this makes me sick", something about Starbucks closing for training, and DD taking advantage of it. So what? Aren't they a business? Don't they have a right to sell lattes as they see fit?

The OP meant quite well, and as a DD fan, I thanked her. There is no Starbucks around here, so this "sick" plan of DD really doesn't shake any of Starbucks' coffee beans around here. Point is, she was trying to let people know that there was a good deal around. :coffee:

So much for good deeds going unpunished. I dislike snarky people. There, I feel so much better.

I saw that thread but never read it. Glad I didn't. I don't understand why people have to be like that. Isn't the whole point of that board to post any type of deal you may find. If you don'l like DD, then just skip the thread. So, I'm right there with you about snarky people.

In fact I was just on the budget board....though for osme reason, it's not too budget for me. It just makes me spend more money. All those deals are so hard to resist. :rotfl2: Did you see the deal for the free pictures from CVS? Think I'm gonna have to try this one. I'll copy and paste the instructions from the other thread for everyone.

1. At the CVS Photo Center, click on "Start Now" to create an account w/ your email and ExtraCare Number
2. CVS will instantly send you an email link to connect to & credit you w/ 50 free photos
3. Fill out this Survey and receive another 20 Photos
4. Under “Order Prints”section (you may have to upload a photo to get to this page), click on the "Do More with Your Photos" on the right side of the screen. Another 10 prints will be credited to your acct.

I'll let everyone know if it works.

I'm checking in today. :wave2: Ready to use as many smilies as possible.
It's a cold, dreery, more-snow-again day here in WI. The temps were above freezing this weekend (near 40) and it was sunny. People were driving w/ windows open, washing cars, and jogging. It was like summer here. :beach: Now, back to winter!:charac2:

Magikitty - Congrats on your Oscar.:smooth: Nice acceptance speech!:mic: I'm impressed that you have a full length gown to wear. I don't think I have ever wore one - a nice one that is. The only gowns I own are old bride's maid dresses. :crazy2: Nasty!! That's not counting my wedding gown which I wouldn't fit into any way. I also have some nice cocktail dresses I used to fit into.

whgrn - Size 12 is not PLUS size in my book. And, mother-of-the-bride at 31. That's just crazy talk! I also do not get into the Oscars. I don't really care about people in Hollywood. They're on another planet as far as I am concerned. :stitch2:

DL55 - Saw you on the Peep Watch 2008 thread. What exactly is that all about? :confused3 Is it about creative things to do w/ peeps? Or, are we watching for interesting types of peeps? I saw some cocoa ones at the store today. Does that count? My MIL will only eat peeps if they are hard and stale. :rotfl2:

:clown: Later TKs!

So much happens over the weekends! Congrats to MagiKitty. I didn't realize you were nominated or I would have dressed up and watched it too. I was busy watching the rain in CA at the race.
:teleport: This is the smilie I've always wanted to use. I like Statgate SG1.
Gotta go face the scales...wish I had a smilie who smashed the scales! :upsidedow

:rotfl2: Peep Watch thread? :crazy2: I was going to post more but must go to watch the peeps! I won't post there because I do not want to be a peep killer! :rotfl2:

Hi Guys :wave2:

Checking in- Hope everyone is doing well and staying warm. :cold:

It's just  around here.

I am still outside most of the day(going full :tilt: for a week now)-
It's getting kinda old but I have to get a jump on things.

I am drying oregano (if that doesn't get blown away today) I had a whole huge bag full of thyme blow into the pool yesterday :headache::rotfl: We are really windy right now.

Seed Update: We have culled the basil seeds and cilantro seeds.:woohoo: I will work up some care packages for ya'll over the weekend.

DD is so excited to do this:yay: (she culled the basil) but she has been swamped at school this week. She has County Science Fair on Thursday and is playing Grace Kelly in the Living History Museum Friday.

DH is back out of town (He was in Laredo yesterday, Dallas for the rest of the week) and back out to San Diego the next week. :sad2:

I wanted to share with ya'll what I found it in DD's take home folder. It's amazing what kids think sometimes.:flower3:
:lmao: I asked her about "wining siblings" she said it was whining siblings and she put it in for her BFF that has 3 sisters

Hope to get caught up and be able to :chat: soon.

Morning all....snowing AGAIN here today. Really, this is ridiculous. 3-6 inches predicted. Schools in the county were cancelled since last night. I really just got the driveway cleared out from last week, and here we go again! Its only predicted to affect upstate New York and northern New England, so if you're there, or someone you know, wish them the best and safest day possible. :cold:

 Bopsmom! Thank you so much for the seed packages that are coming. But as a newbie, how do I start? Do I get those teeny tiny pots and put them in? Do I need certain soils? Can I start them indoors or do I have to wait until spring? (whenever that may be). I really have no idea how to start, and would appreciate any advice you could give.

And you're daughter's project was just precious. Makes me glad to think of all the good young minds out there in the world. What a beautiful soul. I'm glad she included the Britney Spears comment. Glad to hear your DD has a good head on her shoulders. Congrats to her!

Ok, who can clue me in on Peep Watch? (sounds so dirty. :ssst:)

I just checked the smilie list. Seems there are new ones everyday!

The Peep Watch on the CB: co-worker is a rude, ignorant fool. (There is a separate thread discussing this co-worker) OP is leaving peeps in the co-worker's cubicle (anonymously). Other posters are giving their ideas as to where to put them or how to display them. The suggestions are funny.

Hey, I like them hard and stale too! :rotfl2: I discovered that Peeps have their own website. :rotfl:

My favorite smilie for the CB or Budget board ::duck:

No problems!.:hippie: I'll send directions about planting. :thumbsup2
I directly sow the seeds into the outside beds
For you it could be outside (if past freeze time) or in a pot in a warm sunny window.
Herbs don't like to transplant. :sad2:
You can put them in peat/biodegradable pots(we make ours out of newspaper printed in soy based ink) and start the seeds inside, then plant outside(pot and all) when it gets warm.
Potting soil works just fine if in a pot. Herbs are very forgiving. They like it kinda dry so just don't overwater them.
And you're daughter's project was just precious...

Thank you I especially like the part about the jolly ranchers!:goodvibes it's sooo her.:upsidedow

Too too funny:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I love to put peeps in the microwave and watch them blow up 3x their size:woohoo:

If could plan where to put the peeps, this is what I would do::idea:
I would put a bunch of the peeps in the microwave and drape the "melty" peeps over objects like the phone, monitor, etc. and make that person's cubicle look like a giant Salvador Dali picture

Then he/she rude co worker would look like a Munch

BTW-Love the peep picture.:thumbsup2

Peeps grow to 3X their size in the microwave?!! How long do you put them in for? I HAVE to try this (of course, after I dig out). Do they explode after a certain time? Or just melt?

And how do you know this?

I like them stale too.

I've moved to Cadbury mini-eggs. But I only have them when I'm on the stepper. I may break even.

All this talk about peeps and Cadbury mini eggs makes me hungry for Easter candy. What types of Easter candy are your favorites?

Here's mine...
1. Cadbury eggs (the big ones w/ all that sugary goo inside.)
2. Jelly Bellies
3. Chocolate rabbits (must eat ears first)
4. Cordial Eggs - little bigger than jellybean size eggs w/ candy coating outside and chocolate inside w/ flavored juice. Mmmmm!!!!!!
5. Raspberry cream filled eggs
6. Reeses Peanutbutter Eggs
7. Gummi Rabbits (or anything gummi for that matter)

As a former science :teacher: I always try to stay up to date on all the latest scientific research:3dglassesin a variety of fields.:snooty: :rolleyes1
add my own innate, natural curiosity and you will find that I know all kinds of useless stuff.

BTW-I don't consider it Spring :flower3: until I see the Cadbury bunny clucking on the TeeeVeee.
